United Airlines just released its newest seasonal report, pointing to what’s shaping up to be one of the busiest springs in travel history.

Over 20 million people are expected to fly on this airline alone in less than a month.

While a major player in the industry, it is just part of the unbelievably large carrier network helping travelers finalize their plans this season.

Still, that’s more than enough data to shed some light on some truly fascinating trends, the most important of which is figuring out where people are heading off to these upcoming months, and according to United’s booking numbers, the verdict is in!

Considering just how much Cancun has been on the news lately for its record-breaking tourism achievements, this list couldn’t start any other way.

The airline also suggests scheduling your flight on a Tuesday or Wednesday, which, while still relatively busy, are still the slowest days of the week.

United Airlines, one of the favorites for American travelers, just dropped some exciting news for those still planning out their trips in 2024.

So many cool places are already surging in popularity this year, but United is ready to take travelers across the skies and over oceans to some incredible destinations.

With the travel industry showing no signs of slowing down, more and more airlines are adding new routes to their networks.

For United, their route map is already jam-packed, but one popular city for Americans is being added for the first time in the airline’s history.

United Airlines Announces New Nonstop Flights to Marrakesh

Across the vast Atlantic is one of the best destinations to immerse yourself in out-of-body cultural experiences.

There is no U.S. city that comes even close to being comparable to the medieval city of Marrakesh, Morocco.

Beginning October 24th, Americans will be able to fly nonstop from Newark (EWR) and spend their days perusing mazes of alleyways and bustling souks and snapping photos of breathtaking architecture, such as the Koutoubia Mosque.

This new route will be the only direct U.S. flight to Marrakesh. Travelers can choose from three weekly flights on a Boeing 767-300ER plane.

Explore the City of Eternal Spring: Medellin with United

Colombia is super popular with travelers right now, but it does come with a mixed bag of reviews.

Depending on where you go, the country can be quite iffy when it comes to tourist safety, even resulting in a fairly recent security alert issued by the U.S. Embassy.

That being said, Medellin has long been a haven for expats, and even more so now that the digital nomad craze has taken over.

Given its warm climate, The ‘City of Eternal Spring’ is an awesome, affordable getaway any time of year to explore this scenic mountainous city.

Travelers will have to wait until October 27th to book a trip here with United, the airline’s first time ever venturing into Medellin.

The new flight will take off from Houston (IAH) with daily service. Tickets for this route are not yet on sale either.

United Airlines Announces New Nonstop Flights to Shanghai

Is 2024 the year Americans are ready to embrace China as one of the premiere destinations in Asia? Time will tell.

United is not the only airline heading back to one of the most iconic countries on the planet, but surely travelers will feel more comfortable taking one of their favorite carriers.

This new Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG) route is a reboot. For obvious reasons, it was shut down in recent years, but China is open for business again.

Despite travelers’ hesitations, the former popular route is now ready for a relaunch. Travelers can head to the vibrant bustling city of Shanghai with flight offerings four times per week beginning August 29th.

Unlike the other new routes, tickets are on sale already, and prices are a doozy! Round-trip Economy seats go between $1500 and $1700, while Business Class seats go upwards of $ 5,500.

Bonus: New Connection Route To Paradise

The Philippines is one of the most beautiful and affordable exotic getaways in Asia. Truth be told, more Americans have found their way there for its wondrous landscapes, safety, and minimal language barriers.

While the capital city of Manila is a worthwhile trip in its own right, a trip to the Philippines without visiting one of the country’s many stunning islands would be a real shame.

United has laser-focused on Cebu as the latest destination added to its network, but U.S. travelers will have to make a bit of a longer trek to reach it.

The official new route will begin July 31st from Tokyo (NRT) to Cebu (CEB) with daily flights on a 737-800 aircraft.

Americans can easily connect from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Newark, and Houston and arrive in paradise, where a bustling city and jaw-dropping beaches await.

Cebu is very affordable and is slowly but surely becoming more popular for digital nomads, and it’s easy to see why.

This narrow island stretches over 100 miles with gorgeous beaches dispersed across the coastline, and historic Cebu City itself, the former capital of the Philippines, is quite an underrated concrete jungle.

New Survey Reveals The Worst 3 Airlines In Europe According To Travelers

Europe may be the global capital for railway travel, with new exciting cross-border journeys launching this year, including a Sleeper Train visiting 7 of its most beautiful cities, but flying remains by far and large the easiest and cheapest way to explore the culturally-charged continent.

Even the most environmentally-conscious of travelers will throw caution to the wind when tempted with ten-dollar flights to Spain or a last-minute sunny getaway offer to Cyprus that costs less commuting within a single country, but flying in Europe does not come without its challenges.

While it’s true you can save a substantial amount of money traveling low-cost, you’ll have to master the art of carry-on packing, observe strict luggage policies, and you might have to allow for some flexibility in your travel plans (you know, just in case there’s some delay involved).

In case you’ve been wondering, and if you’re the kind who likes to make better-informed decisions when it comes to booking flights, a new Which? survey has revealed the top 3 worst airlines for short-haul flights in Europe (and it includes the leading budget carrier):

Iberia

With an approval score of 49%, Spain’s Iberia is not only the third worst airline for flights within Europe but the worst-ranking full-service carrier based on the Which? survey. That’s not to say it’s bad, as around 87% of flights will arrive on time.

Still, on-time performance is not the only metric to factor in, with the lack of complimentary food and personalized service on short-haul routes, which comprise the bulk of Iberia’s flight map, likely to be perceived negatively by customers.

This wouldn’t be a problem with Ryanair, Vueling, or easyJet, as resorting to aggressive fare wars while maintaining operational costs as low as possible seems to be their business model. Iberia, on the other hand, has higher ticket prices compared to budget carriers.

Flying from London to Madrid, tickets start from $86 one-way, no luggage added, compared to only $25 on Ryanair. At those rates, you’d expect Iberia to offer more comfort, or even provide free snacks onboard, and that is almost never the case short-haul.

Ryanair

Speaking of Ryanair, the Irish giant is the single-largest budget carrier in Europe, reaching 227 international destinations. Its short-haul flights serve not only European but also North African, Middle Eastern, and Western Asian hubs, with Morocco, Türkiye, Egypt, and Armenia, to name a few.

When it comes to customer service, you get what you pay for: you can’t expect pampering, well-cushioned seats, free nibbles, or even reclination, for that matter, on a $20 flight from Paris-Beauvais to Gdansk, one of the prettiest cities in Poland, or Malaga, in Spain’s warm Costa Del Sol.

At an approval rate of 47%, complaints include stiff seats and (at times) disdainful staff. Compared to the United States, it’s almost impossible to sack contract employees based on their performance and/or treatment of customers unless it’s something major due to Europe’s robust labor rights.

Don’t expect Ryanair flight attendants to go out of their way to be accommodating of your needs, nor the airline itself to show understanding, or issue refunds if you can’t make your flight due to personal reasons. On the bright side, their punctuality is not suboptimal, with most departures happening on time.

Wizz Air

The title of the worst airline in Europe currently goes to Hungary-based Wizz Air, with a customer score of only 44%. Issues are similar to those of Ryanair, as it scores low for seat comfort, food and drinks, and it’s essentially a Business and First Class customer’s worst nightmare.

It will get you where you need to be, and there’s no denying cheap last-minute tickets starting from as low as $34 are hard to come by in other airlines, but you definitely shouldn’t expect the typically indifferent staff to adhere to the highest standards of customer service.

Once again, this is not America, where it’s all smiles and pleasantries. That being said, Wizz Air flights departed on time for the most part throughout 2023, with only 2% being delayed by over three hours, higher than most of its competitors, yet not alarmingly high.

The company has fought back against the classification, declaring the survey methodology as ‘misleading’ and stating the results are ‘not representative’, pointing out that only 1.15% of respondents said they flew with Wizz Air during that period.

Bottomline

Wizz Air, Ryanair, and Iberia are three of the most popular airlines in Europe, and though the customer experience is not stellar, based on the Which? survey, it’s relatively satisfactory. Once again, you shouldn’t expect outstanding service paying the equivalent to a meal on flight tickets.

Being low-cost carriers, they will of course attract both fierce defenders and staunch detractors, and the latter is particularly true for those who have had a particularly bad experience flying low-cost in Europe, be it as a result of mishandled luggage, flight delays, or unhelpful staff.

This does not mean you should expect the worst yourself or that your own customer journey will be fully reflective of the results of this survey, which, as Wizz Air officials remarked, may have had its results affected by the underrepresentation of certain targeted audiences.

Flying to a new or far-flung destination should be an exciting experience, but if you pick the wrong airline, then that dream can quickly turn into a nightmare.

Flight delays, cancellations, turbulence, and even pilot strikes can make a trip to the airport stressful.

These are the top 3 U.S. airlines for 2024 according to the Wall Street Journal:

3. Allegiant

The 3rd best airline in the U.S. is Allegiant. The Wall Street Journal used 7 different metrics, including how often an airline was on time, the number of customer complaints, and any baggage handling issues to create their list.

Allegiant has jumped into 3^rd place for 2024, having been down in 5^th place last year. This is good news for budget travelers as Allegiant is an ultra-low-cost carrier that manages to combine budget travel with reliable travel.

New data has revealed that airfare across the U.S. hasn’t been this cheap since 2009 and this is in part due to the services offered by budget carriers such as Allegiant.

Some of the metrics that helped Allegiant soar in the rankings include their low rate of flight cancellations, small number of tarmac delays, and minimal baggage handling issues.

Allegiant provides nonstop services to over 110 U.S. cities, but it doesn’t fly outside of the continental United States at this point.

2. Alaska

Alaska Airlines has not changed positions and remains the 2^nd best airline in the U.S. for 2024.

Alaska boasts the highest punctuality rating of any other airline in the U.S., with at least 80% of their flights arriving on time. It also came first in the categories of cancellations and extreme delays.

However, it’s not all good news for Alaska fliers as the airline also came in 7^th place (out of the 9 carriers listed) for their baggage handling services, so it might be wise to consider flying with carry-on if you choose Alaska for your next flight!

Only United Airlines and American Airlines had worse reputations for their baggage handling services.

Alaska has taken this feedback on board, and according to a spokesperson, they are now introducing new tools and technologies to improve their baggage handling efficiency.

Alaska Airlines has just announced a new daily nonstop flight between Seattle and Toronto Pearson airport that will begin on May 16. This will be the 6th Canadian city served by Alaska and will join a roster of more than 120 destinations that are served by Alaska.

1. Delta

The best U.S. Airline for 2024 is officially Delta. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as this is the third year running that Delta has taken this crown according to the Wall Street Journal.

If you want an airline that is likely to be on time then Delta is the one to choose as 83% of their flights landed within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time.

Delta also ranked first for complaints and involuntary bumping and the airline is considered so reliable that it did not secure anything lower than 5^th place in any of the 7 categories.

In fact Delta has a reputation for heavily compensating any passengers who need to be bumped from their flights involuntarily.

Delta is only continuing to grow and expand its flight offerings, but it is clearly not compromising quality in the process. In the last month alone Delta has announced 11 new flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and has expanded its network with new and returning services to Rio de Janeiro.

These 5 U.S. Airlines Are Most Likely To Experience Flight Delays Right Now

The holidays are just around the corner, leading to some of the busiest travel weeks of the year. Flight delays are extremely common at this time of year, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Flying can already be a stressful experience, but delays can make it even more of a hassle.

Some of the best ways to avoid flight delays are to book with an airline with a high rate of on-time flights and to book a flight early in the morning — statistically speaking, it’s much less likely to be delayed than one later in the day.

According to new data from UpgradedPoints, these are the U.S. airlines that are most likely to experience flight delays right now.

1. Frontier Airlines

The worst airline for flight delays right now is Frontier Airlines. Flights with this budget carrier have a 31.9% chance of being delayed.

Rather than roll the dice and risk an almost 1-in-3 chance of having your flight delayed, it’s better to choose a more reliable airline for flights this winter.

Frontier is also currently facing other issues, including a class-action lawsuit over the airline’s $599 “unlimited flight” pass that was launched earlier this year.

2. Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines had a massive meltdown last year right around Christmas, leading to thousands of flight delays and cancellations.

Many travelers questioned whether booking with Southwest was safe in light of the total operations failure. And while it’s likely that Southwest will be working extra hard to avoid a repeat incident this winter, you may not want to take your chances.

And according to historical data, Southwest flights still have a 31.8% chance of being delayed, making the airline almost as unreliable as Frontier.

3. JetBlue

Another less-than-reliable airline with a high chance of delayed flights is JetBlue. This New York-based carrier does not have the best track record when it comes to on-time flights.

Although it’s not quite as bad as Frontier or Southwest, flying on JetBlue means that you still have a whopping 30.8% chance of flight delays when you travel.

4. Allegiant Air

Next up on the list of airlines likely to have delays is Allegiant Air. This budget airline is not particularly reliable, so even though you may save money booking your flight, you might also have to contend with unexpected delays.

Allegiant Air flights have a 29.2% chance of being delayed.

5. Spirit Airlines

Finally, we have Spirit Airlines. Although this budget carrier is the butt of many jokes for being a less-than-ideal way to travel, it’s actually not as bad as some other U.S. airlines when it comes to delays.

When flying with Spirit, you have a 28.1% chance of experiencing a flight delay.

Which Airlines Have The Least Delays?

So now that you know which airlines are most likely to experience flight delays right now (and which airlines to avoid!), here are the airlines with the least delays.

Although you might be tempted by ultra-low fares with an airline like Frontier or Spirit, it can be worth the extra money to book with a more reliable airline.

Here are the top three airlines with the least delays right now:
- Alaska Airlines: 20.3% chance of delay
- Delta Air Lines: 19.1% chance of delay
- Hawaiian Airlines: 15.6% chance of delay
Flights can be delayed for many reasons, including problems with the aircraft, staffing issues, weather, and more, but these three airlines experience the fewest delays.

Which airlines offer free WiFi on flights, and how can you get it?

Free WiFi on airplanes is still not very common, but there are a handful of airlines around the world that offer it — including one major airline that just announced free WiFi for all passengers.

In the United States, only two airlines currently offer free WiFi.

Internationally, there are a number of airlines that offer free WiFi as well.

As with anything “free,” there are a few catches to getting free onboard WiFi. Some airlines offer it on select routes only or for a limited amount of time.

Here are all the major airlines that currently offer free WiFi on most flights:

1. JetBlue

JetBlue was the first U.S. airline to start offering free WiFi to all passengers through their Fly-Fi service in 2013. Since then, it has expanded to cover almost all flights in the United States, as well as many flights to Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as select flights to Europe.

This makes JetBlue one of the best airlines to fly if you’re looking for free WiFi — but coverage may vary depending on the route and type of plane.

2. Delta Air Lines

Delta is the latest airline in the U.S. to start offering free WiFi on most flights. This new program began rolling out in early 2023 and is expected to cover all major domestic flights by the end of 2023, and all international flights and regional flights by the end of 2024.

In order to access the free onboard WiFi on Delta flights, you must be a member of SkyMiles, Delta’s frequent flyer program.

Fortunately, it’s free to sign up for SkyMiles and you can do it while you’re on the plane before connecting to WiFi if you aren’t already a member.

3. Singapore Airlines

The most recent airline to announce free WiFi for all is Singapore Airlines.

According to Simple Flying, free WiFi will be available for passengers in all cabins starting July 1. Previously, passengers flying in premium cabins already enjoyed free WiFi, so this roll-out is expected to cover all flights and routes immediately.

Now, passengers seated in economy class will be able to connect to free WiFi too. Similar to Delta, travelers will need to join Singapore Airlines’ free KrisFlyer loyalty program prior to connecting.

4. Qatar Airways

Another airline to offer free WiFi is Qatar Airways — but it does come with a caveat.

In order to access free WiFi on your Qatar Airways flight, you must be a member of the airline’s Privilege Club frequent flyer program (it’s free to join.)

Even then, you’ll only get one hour of complimentary WiFi. After that, you can choose to upgrade to a paid package to continue surfing the web.

5. Norwegian Airlines

European low-cost carrier Norwegian Airlines offers free WiFi on many of their flights. Travelers on short-haul flights within Europe will have access to complimentary WiFi, and as of 2020, it’s available on many long-haul trans-Atlantic flights too.

However, the free WiFi only applies to the “Basic” plan. If you want faster service or the ability to stream video content, you’ll need to pay for a premium WiFi package.

Honorable Mentions

These airlines offer limited free WiFi on select routes or to limited destinations:
- Philippine Airlines: Offers 30 minutes of free WiFi on select international flights
- Qantas: Offers complimentary WiFi on all domestic flights within Australia
- Nok Air: Offers free WiFi on all flights (mainly flies within Thailand)
- Air New Zealand: Offers complimentary WiFi on select flights
Free WiFi on flights seems to be a growing trend, and more airlines may offer this benefit in the future, making it easier than ever to stay connected.

WalletHub has announced the best and worst airlines of 2023 in a new report from data collected over the last year.

This is major news considering ticket prices are skyrocketing, and airlines see more and more cancellations.

Recently, Southwest had to ground more than 100 planes because of a technical glitch, so if you’re traveling this summer, be sure to study this list well.

No one likes to start a holiday with a flight delay or cancellation, and by reading this article, you can hopefully avoid an airline with a higher chance of problems.

The best and worst airlines may or may not be surprising to frequent travelers, but this new study took some new things into account when making the ranking.

Things like free WiFI, more legroom, and denied boarding were all factored into this study.

Best Overall

Delta Airlines will be the best overall U.S. airline in 2023.

They’ve had fewer cancellations and delays and are known for having more comfortable seating than most airlines. Even though the price tags are slightly higher for Delta flights in many cases, you get more reliability and fewer issues.

Delta was also announced as one of the best airlines to buy last-minute tickets. Surprisingly, Spirit Airlines was second. The low-fare economy airline has been performing better and better over the years.

Most Reliable

No surprise here, but Delta is also the most reliable.

Delta Airlines wins this category with its fewer canceled and delayed flights. It also has less mishandled luggage and denied boarding (in cases of overbooking).

Safety

Envoy Air wins this category.

If you don’t recognize this airline, you should look into them for your next trip if safety is top of mind.

Envoy Air is a small regional airline that flies to many places in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the Bahamas.

Data gathered by WalletHub has confirmed them as the safest airline to fly within 2023.

Most Pet-Friendly

If you travel with pets, you know how complicated the process can be with any airline.

That’s why picking the airline that has the most straightforward method is essential. In this case, there is a triple tie.

Delta, SkyWest, and Alaska Airlines are winning this category.

Most Comfortable

JetBlue is the winner here. The ever-expanding airline just announced service to Amsterdam starting later this year and begins its first-ever service to Paris at the start of this summer.

They’ve been crowned the most comfortable airline by WalletHub because they offer free WiFi, extra legroom, and complimentary snacks and beverages.

This goes a long way if you travel more than a few hours.

Most Affordable

Traveling this summer will be expensive because of rising gas prices and constant strikes leading to canceled flights. That’s why picking an affordable low-fare airline is essential if you don’t want to spend millions of dollars on a week-long vacation.

The winner of this category is Spirit Airlines. The airline has fares as low as $30 to some regional destinations like Atlanta, New York, and Orlando. It’s the perfect airline to grab a state-side flight without spending too much. You do have to be careful with the baggage situation.

Read the fine print and understand that they will charge you for overhead baggage, which airlines like Delta don’t normally do.

These Are Travelers’ Favorite Airlines According To Twitter

Airlines don’t typically enjoy the best reputations when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Between unreliable airlines with numerous canceled flights, shrinking airplane seat sizes, and aviation debacles like the Southwest meltdown of December 2022, many travelers are not exactly thrilled with airlines in the United States.

Many travelers take to Twitter to air their complaints — or share their positive feedback.

Travel insurance company InsureMyTrip used Twitter sentiment analysis to rank the airlines with the most positive (and the most negative) mentions on the social media platform.

These rankings are based on the aggregated sentiment analysis of nearly 4,000 tweets from 2022.

According to the data, these are the travelers’ favorite (and least favorite) airlines, along with the most common complaints that travelers share on Twitter when it comes to airlines.

Airlines With The Most Positive Twitter Mentions

InsureMyTrip looked at airline mentions on Twitter and categorized them into positive, neutral, and negative sentiments.

The airlines with the most positive Twitter mentions were:
- Alaska Airlines: 29% positive
- United Airlines: 26% positive
- Hawaiian Airlines: 23% positive

While far from a glowing majority, these airlines received more positive mentions than any other on Twitter.

However, that doesn’t tell the full story — all of these airlines still received far more negative mentions than positive ones.

When it comes to negative sentiment, here’s how these “favorite” airlines stacked up:
- Alaska Airlines: 51% negative
- United Airlines: 37% negative
- Hawaiian Airlines: 43% negative
Surprisingly, United Airlines came out as the winner in this, with the second-highest percentage of positive mentions and the lowest percentage of negative mentions.

Airlines With The Most Negative Mentions

While Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines are the three airlines with the most favorable mentions from travelers, these are the bottom three airlines with the most negative mentions on Twitter:
- Frontier Airlines: 61% negative
- Spirit Airlines: 59% negative
- American Airlines: 59% negative
It’s clear that the majority of travelers are NOT happy with these airlines.

That’s revealed even more so when you compare the percentage of negative mentions with the number of positive mentions these airlines receive:
- Frontier Airlines: 13% positive
- Spirit Airlines: 14% positive
- American Airlines: 19% positive
Interestingly, almost every airline on the list from InsureMyTrip saw an increase in negative mentions and a decrease in positive mentions from 2021 to 2022, some by as much as 20%.

What Are Travelers’ Biggest Complaints?

When frustrated travelers take to Twitter to air their grievances against an airline, there are a handful of key topics they’re typically complaining about.

According to the Twitter sentiment analysis from InsureMyTrip, these are the biggest concerns that travelers have in order of most to least mentions:
- Money
- Delay
- Cancel
- Customer service
- Luggage
- Flight attendant
Unsurprisingly, the airline with the most negative mentions (Frontier Airlines) had a high percentage of negative tweets mentioning these topics: Money (20%), Cancel (16%), and Delay (14%).

How Does This Data Stack Up To Other Rankings?

These airline rankings are based on Twitter sentiment analysis alone and don’t take into account any other factors.

When you consider that many travelers only take to Twitter to air their frustrations after a bad experience, and are less likely to spontaneously praise an airline on Twitter, these rankings can become a little more muddled and skew to the negative.

For example, Delta Air Lines won the award for Best Global Airline in the Americas in the APEX Passenger Choice Awards but despite its favorable position, it ranks on the lower end of this Twitter sentiment analysis.

However, these Twitter rankings may reveal what travelers really think about airlines, especially their in-the-moment reactions and frustrations.

Global Number One: Iberia Airlines

“Iberia (IB) starts the year off with a strong performance and takes the lead with an OTP of 86.80%, almost a four-point improvement from December (82.91%),” says Cirium.

Iberia Airlines is shining bright this season with the top score for being on time and having fewer delays. The airline is based in Madrid and was created in 1927.

Just because it’s in Madrid doesn’t mean it only services Spain; the airline is widely flown worldwide and is one of the most popular if you’re doing trans-Atlantic flights from cities like New York or Chicago.

This means that Iberia Airlines is the most punctual airline in the world. If you catch yourself in Spain or somewhere on the Iberian Peninsula, book a flight on Iberia Airlines to get somewhere on time.

APAC Number One: Thai AirAsia

Based in Bangkok, Thai AirAsia is the most punctual airline for the Asia-Pacific region. Coming in with an OTP score of 90.68%, it’s a sure bet you’ll be on time if you’re traveling with this airline.

Thai AirAsia is a good airline if you’re flying anywhere in Southeast Asia. It’ll get you to places like Malaysia and Phuket in an instant.

Air China came second for the Southeast Asian region with an OTP of 87.60%.

Both Airlines are good ways to get around and be on time.

North America Number One: Delta Airlines

If you frequently travel in North America, you’ve been on a Delta Airlines plane. It got a score of 79.88%, which is a lot less than the others on this list.

Still, it ranks as the number one airline to use in North America. It’s one of the world’s oldest carriers stemming back to 1925.

Atlanta, Georgia has the most prominent hub, and if you’ve been to the airport, you see why it’s so popular.

Europe Number One: Air Europa

If you’re in Europe (outside the Iberian Peninsula), you must check out Air Europa. The European airline came in with a score of 88.68%, progress from prior months.

Another Spanish airline’s headquarters are located in Mallorca, founded in 1986.

The airline is affordable and reliable, making your European vacation much more pleasant.

Latin America Number One: Copa Airlines

Copa Airlines takes the cake for Latin America, and it’s no surprise. The airline is trusted by travelers in the region or abroad for its quick and reliable service.

It came in with an OTP score of 90.79% and services most of Latin America.

Fun fact: This airline was founded in Panama City in 1944 but didn’t take off till 1947.

Middle East & Africa Number One: Oman Air

Traveling to the middle east is far if you’re coming from North America, and no one wants to be stuck at the airport waiting for a 13-hour flight that’s delayed.

Oman Air is the most punctual airline in the Middle East region, with an OTP score of 92.14%.

Royal Jordanian comes in second with a superb score of 89.90%. These Middle Eastern airlines are knocking the US-based scores by leaps and bounds.

Low-Cost Carrier Number One: Solaseed Air

Traveling on a budget means booking economy airlines, and sometimes that comes with the fear of delayed flights. This month Solaseed Air is taking top place for being the most on-time low-cost carrier.

It came in with an OTO score of 92.23%, which is pretty impressive. If you’re still getting familiar with the brand, it’s a connector airline in Japan.

The next time you’re out east, check them out for affordable and quick service.

Traveling this summer should be completed on time.

You should be able to enjoy every minute of your vacation from the moment you step on the plane to the moment you get back on it to go home.

The U.S. Has 2 Of The World’s Most Disliked Airlines

Airlines haven’t had the best reputation lately. From the Southwest debacle to plenty of canceled flights, lost luggage, and seats getting smaller, America isn’t the only country that has airlines causing problems for customers. One of the most popular ways to air these grievances is Twitter, which is why S Money decided to scour the internet and find out which airlines are performing the worst.

The online-only currency exchange platform analyzed thousands of tweets around the world to determine the most loved and disliked airlines. The company used an AI sentiment tool to analyze up to 4,000 tweets that mentioned the official Twitter handles of the airlines and gave them a positive or negative score.

While Twitter does offer up some insights into people’s experiences, there are some problems with using it as a single source since most people tend to air their grievances rather than their positive experiences. According to research from Harvard University, outrage is known to go viral quicker on Twitter, while there is also going to be a gap between what is annoying and negative between different people.

When looking at the Twitter analysis, the U.S. didn’t fare too well, as two of its airlines fell in the top ten of the most disliked airlines on Twitter in the world, and no airlines made it into the top 10 most loved in the world.

The Most Hated Airlines In The World

According to the analysis, two of the world’s most disliked airlines on Twitter are from the U.S.

Spirit Airlines takes the number 8 spot, followed by Frontier Airlines in the top 10, with Spirit receiving a 62.2% score of negative tweets while Frontier trailed behind on 61.9%.

Spirit has been compared to the ‘American Ryanair,’ with many users frustrated over its hidden additional fees and expenses that sometimes cost more than the flight itself.

Many of the Twitter responses for both airlines were about canceled flights and not being adequately compensated. One user shared how Spirit canceled a $230 flight, and he was then forced to purchase a $700 new ticket.

Spirit airlines is the worst airlines out there. Cancelled my flight to Vegas so had to book another, then cancelled my return flight. $230 original roundtrip turns into $700.

Meanwhile, the negative tweets about Frontier recommend people not fly it, no matter how cheap the flights are, with frustrations around terrible customer service and not being able to get through to a human.

Among the two U.S. airlines, the top 10 most disliked on Twitter include 3 airlines from Canada (WestJet, Flair Airlines, and Air Transat), two from India (Go First and SpiceJet), plus an airline from Portugal (TAP Air Portugal), Australia (Jetstar Airways) and Spain (Vueling).

Go First from India is considered the most disliked airline on Twitter in the world, with a 73.8% rating of negative tweets, which is 5% higher than Portugal’s TAP Air in the number two spot. A large proportion of tweets were likely attributed to the news headlines when the airline forgot to board 54 passengers before taking off.

When comparing North American-only airlines, the top three most disliked airlines are three Canadian airlines (WestJet, Flair Airlines, and Air Transat), followed by Spirit, Frontier, and then American.

Mexico’s airline Volaris comes in at number 10, the only airline from Mexico that makes the charts due to its difficulty in getting refunds for canceled flights.

The Most Loved Airlines In The World

No American airlines made the top 10 list, as Canada takes the lead for most loved, with three airlines appearing in the top four – regional Bearskin Airlines at number one with a 53.4% positive tweet score. Tweeters commented on its service to hard-to-reach places as well as the scenic views during the routes.

The other Canadian airlines in the top four include Pacific Coastal Airlines at number two and Canadian North at number four. The only American airline in the most loved on the Twitter list of North American airlines was Alaska Airlines, which made the number ten spot with a 34.% positive tweet rate.
