When spring arrives, it can feel like a world of travel opportunities is opening up in front of you.

Faced with a huge amount of choice as the northern hemisphere begins to warm up, where should you look for inspiration? We might have something to help.

As part of its annual Spring Break Travel Outlook report, major booking platform Expedia has revealed which international destinations are the most popular based on flight searches by its users.

The full list features a few of the usual suspects in North America but also a surprise destination or two from Europe and Asia.

Here’s where people are hungry to travel to this spring:

    7. Barcelona, Spain

Nestled in the most visited region in all of Spain, Barcelona is a city with few equals around Europe.

Spring is one of the best times to visit Barcelona as the costs will be lower, and you’ll also avoid the infamous overcrowding that has been blighting the city in recent summers.

March also plays host to the Barcelona Beer Festival (22-24) and the Sant Medir Festival (3 March) where floats will parade along the streets and free candy is handed out.

    6. Rome, Italy

Rome is a beautiful and fascinating city that requires a lot of walking if you want to see everything.

This is why spring is a great time to visit, with average temperatures usually sitting around 55F in March and April, so you won’t melt while trying to take it all in.

Compared to a summer average of 80F, it is much more pleasant to see outdoor attractions such as the Roman Forum and Colosseum.

    5. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Ever popular with American travelers, Punta Cana is an ideal spring hideout.

With warm and sunny Caribbean weather, stunningly clean and beautiful beaches, and a host of excellent all-inclusive hotels, it’s easy to see why.

Each year it seems there are more reasons to consider visiting Punta Cana, such as a planned new train route linking it with Santo Domingo, and several new resorts scheduled to be opened over the coming months.

    4. Paris, France

Ahh, Paris in the spring. Does it get any more romantic?

Well, maybe. But Paris is still a wonderful place to head to during the upcoming season.

This year, in particular, it may save you money to visit in spring before the inevitable hotel price hike this summer when the Olympic Games comes to town.

The city really comes to life during March and April, with many of its major sights enhanced by the blooming of pretty blossoms and other flowers.

And with more non-stop flights from the U.S. being added all the time, this is your sign to consider Paris.

    3. London, United Kingdom

If London has been on your bucket list for a while now, then spring is a great time to tick it off.

The capital city of the United Kingdom always ranks among the world’s most visited cities thanks to its huge array of attractions and events – both of which step things up a few gears in spring.

London hosts excellent St Patrick’s Day celebrations on March 17, while the Spring Festival of Light theme park (through May 8) is a family-friendly attraction near Brent Cross Shopping Center.

    2. Tokyo, Japan

The curveball in this list is the Japanese megacity that seems to be at the top of everyone’s bucket list.

Tripadvisor recently listed Tokyo as one of the top trending destinations in 2024 for good reason: people just can’t seem to get enough of the idea of Japan.

Spring is the ideal time to visit as you may get a chance to see the famous Sakura cherry blossom, which occurs from late March into early April.

Head to one of Tokyo’s many gardens or temple complexes to see it in full bloom.

    1. Cancun, Mexico

What more can you say about Cancun?

It’s one of the world’s most popular beach destinations for so many reasons – and that list just keeps on growing.

Being within a stone’s throw of some of the best beaches in the world, having the benefit of an ever-growing range of all-inclusive resorts to choose from, and an ease of travel that is being enhanced with more flights and the introduction of the Maya Train – how can any self-respecting traveler resist?

Dreaming of where your spring break vacation might take you? Us too…

If you’re struggling to narrow down where you want to get your dose of sun and good times, then a new study may have the inspiration you seek.

Travel booking giant Expedia has examined flight search data from its users for the period between March 5 and April 26 to determine which domestic destinations will be most popular for this year’s spring break – and the results are fascinating.

    View of South Beach Miami

The list is a comprehensive one that covers all the bases for each kind of spring break vacationer – here’s the top 7:

    7. Fort Lauderdale, Florida

quieter and slightly less expensive destination than nearby Miami, Fort Lauderdale is becoming an incredibly popular pick for spring break travelers.

With a 24-mile stretch of beautiful beaches and fantastic restaurants that specialize in seafood and Latin-influenced cuisine, Fort Lauderdale has all the ingredients for a great spring break.

If you’re looking to keep spending down, many of its attractions are free such as Anne Kolb Nature Center, Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop flea market, and concerts at Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.

    6. Phoenix, Arizona

record number of people flew through Phoenix’s Harbor International Airport last year, showcasing that it’s a firm favorite among travelers.

The weather in Phoenix in spring is ideal, with March temperatures usually averaging around 75F and very low levels of rainfall.

There are plenty of great events to help you enjoy a party atmosphere, such as M3F Festival (March 1-2) and Innings Festival (February 23-24) – both of which feature live music and amusements.

    5. New York, New York

The ‘Big Apple’ will always be one of the most popular domestic destinations at any time of year.

That was proven in 2023 when a record number of travelers flew through the three major airports that serve NYC.

Away from its unrivaled selection of incredible restaurants covering the entire price scale, New York has several chilled things you can enjoy during spring such as a walk along the High Line, which will be bursting with floral color.

    4. Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles has the perfect spring break combination of amazing nightclubs and bars to dance the night away, as well as golden sandy beaches to slowly bring yourself back to life under the warm sun the next day.

There’s almost no end to the excellent hotels you can choose to stay at in Los Angeles as well as some unique spots to take in the views over the city while you enjoy a cocktail such as 71Above and Perch LA.

skyline of los angeles in california at sunset with palm trees in foreground

In between parties, Los Angeles offers the opportunity to tour its famous movie studios and even has many miles of hiking trails throughout the city to help you walk off the hangover.

    3. Miami, Florida

For great food, culture, and nightlife, American cities don’t come much better equipped than Miami.

This beloved Floridian destination has been breaking all kinds of records for tourism over the last year, and it looks set to remain popular as we move into this spring.

However, one thing to be aware of with Miami this year is that local authorities have been talking about introducing curfews for spring break this year between midnight and 6am in popular locations such as South Beach.

This is due to some issues the city experienced last year with unruly revelers and crime.

    2. Las Vegas, Nevada

Fresh from breaking a tourism record in 2023 and then hosting the Super Bowl this February, it seems that Las Vegas is an even more exciting place to visit than usual right now.

And with more affordable flights than ever heading into ‘Sin City’ combined with accommodation prices that seem to have stayed a little lower compared to many other major American destinations, it makes an ideal place to enjoy thawing out after winter.

    1. Orlando, Florida

There really is something for all the family in Orlando.

From the theme parks to some truly world-class dining and nightlife, this city seems like it was ready-made for a spring vacation.

There’s so much more to Orlando than just Disney World, including the opportunity to grab a bargain at an outlet mall, get up close with nature in one of the many nearby parks and nature reserves, or just chill by the pool in one of its fabulous hotels.

U.S. Issues New Travel Advisory For Mexico Regarding Spring Break

While American travelers are enjoying or getting ready for spring break travel, the government of the United States has just issued a travel warning for one of the top destinations this season: Mexico.

The U.S. State Department shared on Monday an official travel warning addressing multiple concerns, recognizing safety threats, and sharing advice related to current events.

Congo bar cancun, people waiting to get into bar

The document published on the website of the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico explains to travelers the main factors to consider when planning travel to this country, including risks of crime, drugs, assault, medication, and other warnings like drowning and arrests.

A list of actions to take when traveling to Mexico—like reading the Mexico Travel Advisory page, recommendations for safety applications that travelers can download, and general warnings— has also been included.

Considering top spring break destinations, authorities have specifically addressed locations like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and other popular beach destinations in the Quintana Roo region.

Just a few weeks ago, the U.S. The State Department issued a special travel advisory for U.S. citizens visiting Cancun related to disputes and violent incidents between taxis and Uber drivers in the region.

While American authorities warn travelers about travel to Mexico, the Mexican government assures tourists that Mexico is a safe destination.

Considering the current situation in Mexico, there are new updates for tourists. Here’s what travelers should know about this recent travel advisory shared by the American government:

Factors To Consider When Traveling To Mexico

The U.S. government states that most visitors travel safely in Mexico —Cancun is still considered a safe destination for many travelers— but those planning a trip to this country should bear in mind multiple factors.

buildings next to beautiful beach at sunset

Regarding safety, travelers are encouraged to maintain high levels of awareness and avoid risky situations since crime (including violent crime) can occur even in popular tourist destinations like Playa del Carmen, Cancun, and Tulum, especially after dark.

U.S. citizens have also been victims of assault, and lonely or drunk travelers have been targeted.

Authorities also remind travelers about illegal actions and behaviors in Mexico and that Mexican law is different from American law, and travelers should keep this in mind.

The document highlights that guns and ammunition are illegal, as well as drug possession—including medical marijuana—, public urination, and drinking and driving. Those who violate these terms can be arrested.

U.S. citizens are warned about consuming drugs or unregulated alcohol as travelers have been injured by contaminated alcohol, synthetic drugs, and adulterated prescription pills. Counterfeit medication has also been reported. Travelers should consult with medical professionals and buy medicine from reputable establishments.

In case of emergency or need for medical attention, the document mentions that private hospitals might be more expensive in Mexico than in the United States and that payment in cash might be required. This is one reason it is always good to buy travel insurance.

Concerning natural factors, it warns about rip tides and strong undercurrents, as well as a lack of security measures and lifeguards. Drowning has been considered a relevant factor of risk for visitors.

Travelers are advised to respect legal terms of stay as well with regards to visas, as violating those terms can result in detention or fines.

    Actions For Travelers

After taking into consideration all risks, travelers are also encouraged to take action. The U.S. government recommends:

    • Reading the Mexico Travel Advisory page, and the country information page.
    • In case of an emergency, call 911
    • Purchase travel insurance that covers Mexico or make sure that health insurance covers the destination.
    • To receive updates and relevant information on safety in Mexico, travelers should enroll in the  Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.
    • Drink responsibly, and don’t leave drinks unattended. Travelers must seek medical attention if they feel ill and report to the Mexican Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk (COFEPRIS) in case of alcohol contamination.
    • Stay in groups of friends and know your drinking companions, especially at night and at clubs and bars.
    • Monitor credit cards to confirm all transactions are correct, bring limited cash, and be careful when withdrawing money from ATMs.
    • Keep family and friends informed of travel plans.
    • Download the “Guest Assist” application when traveling in the Quintana Roo region for relevant updates, information, and assistance for travelers.
    • Keep passports safe.
    • Travelers can Contact U.S. Embassy or Consulate if they need assistance.

Spring is about reawakening, which should apply to everyone, not just college freshmen and sophomores. This year, spring break is turning out to be a refuge for everyone wanting to relax. If your version of relaxing means partying the night away and meeting new people, then that’s okay too. If you prefer to travel solo or want to make new friends, spring break is the perfect time to do it, but you have to consider where you go.

woman sitting on a rock in front of the ocean in ibiza

Destinations vary in terms of the holiday, and one might be different from your type of vibe. Another one might have the perfect ambiance, but you need to be made aware it exists.

Being adventurous can be part of a spring awakening, and trying something new this season can set your summer off to a good start. We’ve sourced the top seven spring break destinations for solo travelers, and they range from excellent poolside hotels to trendy urban areas where cocktails and meeting new people go hand in hand. This season, feel free to get out there.

    Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Located in Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta is a favorite of many solo travelers. It’s an incredible LGBTQ+ hotspot known for its high-energy parties and pacific-facing beaches that offer a sense of calm to many travelers. Properties like Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa blend those two experiences together.

The hotel has 433 Jalisco-town-inspired suites, all facing the recently renovated infinity pool, which is perfect if you prefer to meet other solo travelers by swimming at the floating bar. If floating isn’t your style, check out Nosh, an open-air bar facing the pacific. You’ll mingle with others while enjoying Jalisco-inspired cocktails and music.

Panoramic view of downtown Puerto Vallarta.

Check out the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center if you want a more all-inclusive vibe. It’s a massive all-inclusive property perfect to amp up the party. Prepare to relax; the renovated Maiave Spa has some of the best hands in the industry.

Their AAA restaurant Gaviotas has a fantastic assortment of prehispanic (before Spanish colonization) meals in a high-end ambiance that challenges the idea of an all-inclusive beach hotel. It’s worth it if you want to party but add a little culture to your trip.

    Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas has been known as America’s party town for what seems like forever, and we’re not trying to reinvent the wheel here. There are places that are a little different, like Superfrico (one of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas) newest restaurants.

It’s a funky hotspot where you can have out-of-this-world dishes and mingle with burning man-like people. It labels itself as an Italian psychedelic restaurant, and we’re good with that. It’s the type of place you go if you want to have a cocktail while your neighbor performs magic tricks or something. It’s bizarre, and for all the good reasons. If you’re ever in Nevada, you have to check it out.

    Ibiza, Spain

Another party place that doesn’t need a formal introduction is Ibiza. Back then, hippies looking to escape western wars made their way to the Balearic Islands and introduced the struggling habitants to the wonders of the party scene.

This created a party monster, and the island was never the same again. If you’re there, check out spots like BLESS Hotel Ibiza and TRS Ibiza Hotel. These hotels are the opposite, but it’s an excellent way to determine your wants. At BLESS Hotel Ibiza, you’ll find a killer rooftop called Epic Infinity Lounge that promotes hedonism and a 2023 Michelin-star award-winning restaurant called Etxeko Ibiza. It’s a posh way of partying in Ibiza.

Landscape with Eivissa town at twilight time, Ibiza island, Spain.

The TRS Ibiza Hotel is more original to an all-inclusive but has some of the best meeting spots for solo travelers on the island. A favorite is the Aurum Lobby Bar. Around check-in/check-out time, you’ll be immersed in this Balearic hotel’s foot traffic. Pro tip: if you’re at the TRS Ibiza Hotel, check out Cala Gracioneta and Cala Gració. These two adjoining beaches give spring vacation in Europe vibes.

    Miami Beach, Florida

Most spring breakers have been to Miami Beach, but have you been to the South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach? This is the perfect place to meet other solo travelers looking for a good time. Stay at The Balfour Hotel Miami Beach, a historic art-deco wonder with only 82 guest rooms. Designed by Anton Skislewicz (a pioneer in the art-deco movement on the beach) in 1940, it has a unique style that screams “let’s hang out.”

Another spot in the neighborhood is Minibar. Located on Meridian and 5th street, it’s the type of place you go to and ends up making friends with everyone from the bartender to folks next to you.

Aerial view of beach. South Pointe Park and Pier.

    Guadalajara, Mexico

Another great city in Jalisco is Guadalajara. If you’ve been to Mexico City and liked it, you’ll love this equally impressive counterpart. Walk through the historic city center, where you can visit spots like the UNESCO World Heritage Site Museo Cabañas and the golden-hued Palacio de Gobierno.

You can crash at the super modern brutalist-inspired Bellwort Hotel, located pretty much in the middle of everything. You can grab drinks at La Tequila Cocina, roam around the city, or eat at the earthy VENENO. It’s an amazingly excellent restaurant inspired by the once-populated Casas Grandas in Chihuahua.

One last stop could be the magical town of San Pedro Tlaquepaque. Its quaintness can often be overwhelming. This city has plenty of different attractions for making friends or wanting to be alone.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site Museo Cabañas and the golden-hued Palacio de Gobierno

    Madrid, Spain

The capital of Spain has some different attractions for solo travelers and is often known as a safe alternative for them. It’s a must-visit if you’re planning to cascade through western Europe. Don’t think it’s boring; places like BLESS Hotel Madrid offer interesting dining choices and a sophisticated-relaxed vibe you can’t find anywhere else in the city.

Madrid, Spain. Gran Via, main shopping street at twilight.

    Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

All-inclusive hotels are great if you’re looking for new friends, and we’re sure this last one will be full of potential new friends this spring break. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is the type of place you go if you want to party but also feel like you’re visiting a destination. It’s a massive resort with amenities like catamaran tours of some of the Dominican Republic’s most beautiful beaches and lagoons.

They also have a few nightclubs and bars on the property that are pretty fun. The Eden Pools are lively outdoor pools facing the ocean that can promote friend-making.

Fray Anton de Montesinos statue, over looking Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Worst case scenario, head over to Santo Domingo. This beautiful colonial capital is home to the Zona Colonial, where you can find some of America’s oldest churches and other historical sites. It’s also a fun place to have a cocktail and grab a bite with a blossoming LGBQT+ scene developing.

A significant portion of the Dominican Republic’s cultural identity can be found here, and it’s a welcoming spot every solo traveler should try at least once.

Spring is in the air, and that can only mean that spring break is nearly upon us. The very mention of this popular vacation might bring back memories of MTV beach houses, college students living it up, swim-up bars, and spending endless amounts of money on questionable amounts of alcohol. Or perhaps you prefer a more laidback vibe, and the idea of enjoying a spring getaway at a less frenzied pace sounds more appealing to you.

Daytona beach florida aerial view with beach and ocean spring break

With flight costs notoriously expensive around popular spring break times, why not stay closer to home? These five US cities are all easily reachable by domestic flights, have a major airport, and are serviced by multiple airlines at different price points, meaning no long-haul flights, layovers, or missed connections. These destinations are all well connected to other U.S. regions and reachable by bus, car, or even train in some cases — if you prefect to avoid flying altogether.

Here are the top 5 destinations in the US for a cheap spring break getaway for both the party-seekers and chill-chasers:

    Panama City, Florida

No spring break list would be complete without mentioning this “Spring Break Capital of The World.” Constantly ranked as Florida’s top spot for beachgoers, Panama City has all the ingredients for a memorable spring break. While Florida offers numerous cities and beaches for those looking for a spring break getaway, Panama City is known to be one of the most affordable spots in Florida.

At the time of writing, a search on Airbnb for a weekly rental in April (for 2 people) is about $600.

In addition to having accommodation coming in well under other Florida destinations, Panama City also offers activities day and night at price points that are sure to entice those looking to keep costs down.

Simply strolling and enjoying the white sand beaches is one free way to spend your day. If you are very committed, you can even pack a lunch to save costs on the many lively beach restaurants that tempt you in.

Or, if you prefer, head inland to Pitt and Sylvan Springs, where you can splash about in a tube or kayak or wander the trails and enjoy the cooler temperatures of the park. Panama City also is a great choice for both families and the younger crowd, as there are options for everyone here.

While prices may have risen in recent times, Panama City still offers a chance for a spring break on the beach, but at a lower price tag than many other US destinations.

    Outer Banks, North Carolina

Looking for a more mellow beach destination? A visit to the Outer Banks might be just what you seek.

A trip to these barrier islands can be cost-efficient as they are located within driving distance from many east coast areas, not only saving you money on flying but also the headache of air travel during this time of year.

Spring brings warm and mild temperatures to the area, and since the actual tourist season hasn’t started yet, the beaches are yours to explore. Climb the dunes along the ocean, and take in the views. An Outer Banks spring break also means that you can take advantage of the many seafood choices that occur in Spring.

    Outer banks sand dunes

After being closed all winter, most restaurants start opening up at this time, meaning it shouldn’t be too hard to get a prime table and prime prices.

While a trip to the Outer Banks can get pricy during the summer, the average weekly price in April for an Airbnb for 2 people is currently about $700.

Remembering that you can cook in for most meals and spend days aimlessly combing the beach for free, this destination surely deserves a spot on the budget spring break getaway list.

    New Orleans, Louisiana

A spring break getaway to New Orleans could be the perfect way to spice up your season and be the best remedy for the dreary March and April weather that tends to linger about for far too long.

Spring is the time to enjoy New Orleans without the muggy oppressive heat that summer cooks up. In addition to its warm and sunny weather, New Orleans is just overflowing with culture around every corner. One major attraction here is simply strolling and enjoying the charming streets of the French Quarter.

During March and April, it’s possible to find an Airbnb for 7 nights in the Big Easy for between $400-$500 (price based on 2 people). In addition, New Orleans is being added as a destination for most budget airlines, with flights from major US cities as low as $30 one way.

One main reason to head down to the big easy is for the food scene. Any foodie will tell you that New Orleans is a culinary destination in itself, but eating your way around this city’s famous restaurants might not be the cheapest way to spend your spring break. However, a visit at this time of year can land you in the middle of any of the city’s famous music and food festivals, meaning you can try more dishes without breaking the bank.

    street lights in new orleans

    Daytona Beach, Florida

It’s no shock to see Daytona Beach on any spring break list, as it’s been a classic favorite for years. While this destination does see higher prices in spring break time across the board, there are still ways to save on a trip to this party capital.

Hotels and apartments have never been more plentiful, meaning those who look can find lower-priced options. The area is well connected with taxis and shuttles, and most restaurants and bars are overflowing with special deals every day of the week.

Finding an apartment here in March or April can be done with an average weekly price as low as $400 for 2 people, and many cater to larger groups as well.

Daytona beach florida view from above the ocean

While flights to Daytona Beach airport are higher at this time of year, you can save money by flying into Orlando and either taking a shuttle or renting a car to reach Daytona Beach instead.

For example, New York to Daytona Beach for a week in March could cost you about $300 with a layover in Cleveland. The same dates but heading to Orlando are currently only about $100. Even if you factor in a shuttle at approximately $40 each way, that still saves a big chunk of change.

Not to mention if you were planning on renting a car anyway for your trip, Orlando might make a much more budget-conscious choice, depending on your starting point, of course.

    Washington, D.C.

Partying poolside all day not your thing? What about a trip to Washington, D.C. to take in some culture instead? Thinking of a visit to this national capital in the spring should immediately bring your mind to one thing-  cherry blossoms. This is the time of year to plan the perfect outfits and go take advantage of the beautiful backdrop that the city’s blooming cherry trees offer.

You might be surprised to see this city included on a list of budget-friendly spring break getaways, but the wide range of accommodations that are available in various neighbors and various price points makes finding something affordable not very difficult.

A beautiful reflection of cherry blossoms and the monument in Washington DC, Alaska's newest destination from San Diego

For example, many budget travelers choose to stay across the River in Virginia and commute via subway into the city center. A search on Airbnb yields many good choices, from guest suites to entire lofts, many coming in under $600 for a week.

Perfect for history buffs, D.C. is a good choice for spring break travel, and wandering among the monuments is much more manageable than doing so in the blazing summer heat. If the spring weather gets a bit drizzly or chilly, pop into one (or all) of the city’s famous museums, from the Smithsonian to the National Gallery.

The sheer amount of free activities in D.C. is another reason it can be considered a budget destination. There is so much more to do in Washington, D.C. than you might think, making it perfect for travelers of all ages. In addition to being a hit with history fans, Washington D.C. is also perfect for foodies.

The impressive food and drink scene here offers something for travelers of all tastes and budgets. To explore more off-the-beaten path and usually lower price options, follow a local publication. They are always in the know with tips and deals, helping travelers explore the local food and drink scene without breaking the bank.

You can enjoy sunny, mild weather while hiking to the Hollywood sign, hitting the beach in Malibu, or spending the day at a theme park like Disneyland.

    5. Lisbon, Portugal

Spring Break is fast approaching, and it is time for travelers to get organized if they plan on taking a trip this year. While anywhere different from home and traveling with friends or family is generally a good idea, some destinations offer more value than others.

Here are 8 fabulous (and warm!) spring break destinations that are affordable and easy to get to from the U.S.

    Punta Cana

Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic’s golden child, and for good reason. With world-class beaches and warm weather all year, Punta Cana is a great option for spring break. The city’s beaches are less developed than other popular resort areas, meaning groups of spring breakers can claim their own piece of paradise on the beach. There are also plenty of other things to do nearby, from watersports and ziplining to exploring caves and nature reserves.

It is an easy destination to get to – close to 30 U.S. and Canadian cities have direct flights to Punta Cana. Bargain hunters can not only find cheap flights to Punta Cana, but the city’s multitude of resorts also offer spring breakers plenty of options for accommodations to suit any budget.

    Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is a fantastic destination for an enjoyable and varied spring break. The city is known for its nightlife, rich culture, and beautiful beaches close to downtown. Puerto Vallarta is generally a safe destination for tourists and has been recognized as a safe destination for the LGBTQ community.

Spring breakers on the west coast can’t go wrong with Puerto Vallarta. It is a quick 3-hour flight from Los Angeles, and flight deals can often be found for around $200. The downtown area is an easy 10-minute ride from the airport, which means tourists will have more time to party.

    Los Cabos

Los Cabos, on the tip of the Baja California Peninsula, is another inexpensive and close spring break destination, especially for anyone on the west coast. The region has two incredible resort towns that are linked with 20 miles of beachfront resorts. Cabo San Lucas is 23 miles away from the airport, and San José del Cabo is only an 8-mile transfer.

A quick search on google flights unearthed several options from LAX to Los Cabos for under $200 in March. And what’s even better is that it is only a quick 2.5-hour flight from Los Angeles.

    Mazatlán

Often overlooked as a spring break option, Mazatlán is actually an incredible choice. With a beautiful old town, an extensive beach promenade, and a vibrant tourist area, Mazatlán offers plenty to do at a great value. One can’t miss is Brenster’s Beach Bash, an all-you-can-drink live music party that happens every Tuesday at Diego’s Beach and Grill.

    Mazatlan crowded beach

Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, and Minneapolis all have direct flights into Mazatlán.  And while getting there can be more of a hassle for passengers needing to make a connection, the city makes up for it with lower accommodation costs.

    Cancun

Cancun is often at the top of mind when thinking of spring break destinations. The city is a well-polished tourism machine, meaning that spring breakers have plenty of options when it comes to accommodations. It is home to a huge range of resorts, beautiful beaches, epic nightlife, and plenty of nearby excursions.

    Crowded beach in Cancun

Cancun is well-connected and very convenient to get to. The airport welcomes over 500 flights each day, with over 38 U.S. cities offering direct flights. Because it is such a popular and connected destination, flights to Cancun come at a great value, as do many of the resorts.

    Playa Del Carmen

Playa Del Carmen is just 45 minutes south of Cancun. It is a great option for spring breakers looking for more of a laid-back vibe. The resort area has plenty of beautiful beaches and great nightlife. But what really makes Playa Del Carmen a great spring break destination is its access to the surrounding region. Tourists can easily explore the nearby Mayan ruins, breathtaking cenotes, and coral reefs that surround the area.

Playa Del Carmen is a great choice for anyone on the East Coast, as it is well connected via the Cancun Airport. Buses, shuttles, and rental cars are ready to whisk travelers from the airport to Playa Del Carmen. Later this year, a train will connect the two cities, making it even easier to get to.

    Montego Bay

Jamaica’s Montego Bay is known for its incredible beaches, fantastic resorts, and laid-back culture. The city provides a great mix of urban and resort life. This gives tourists a taste of the local culture without having to venture too far from their resort. Spring breakers can’t go wrong with Montego Bay – it has all the beaches, nightlife, and culture one could ask for.

21 U.S. cities currently fly direct to Montego Bay, and it is less than a 4-hour flight from most east coast cities. It is also one of the most affordable destinations to get to from the U.S. Direct flights from the east coast are typically around $200. Because the city has a well-developed tourism industry, there are plenty of amazing hotels and resorts to choose from.

    Puerto Rico

Another great option for spring break this year is beautiful Puerto Rico. There is no shortage of incredible nightlife and entertainment in Puerto Rico to keep tourists busy. With beaches and accommodations to suit every type of spring breaker, a rich and welcoming culture, and plenty of non-beach excursions, Puerto Rico is at the top of the list for many.

Puerto Rico is the best option for spring breakers who want to experience a different culture but don’t have a passport. Flights from Miami are just 2.5 hours and are often less than $200 if booked ahead of time.
