Dreaming of where your spring break vacation might take you? Us too…

If you’re struggling to narrow down where you want to get your dose of sun and good times, then a new study may have the inspiration you seek.

Travel booking giant Expedia has examined flight search data from its users for the period between March 5 and April 26 to determine which domestic destinations will be most popular for this year’s spring break – and the results are fascinating.

    View of South Beach Miami

The list is a comprehensive one that covers all the bases for each kind of spring break vacationer – here’s the top 7:

    7. Fort Lauderdale, Florida

quieter and slightly less expensive destination than nearby Miami, Fort Lauderdale is becoming an incredibly popular pick for spring break travelers.

With a 24-mile stretch of beautiful beaches and fantastic restaurants that specialize in seafood and Latin-influenced cuisine, Fort Lauderdale has all the ingredients for a great spring break.

If you’re looking to keep spending down, many of its attractions are free such as Anne Kolb Nature Center, Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop flea market, and concerts at Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.

    6. Phoenix, Arizona

record number of people flew through Phoenix’s Harbor International Airport last year, showcasing that it’s a firm favorite among travelers.

The weather in Phoenix in spring is ideal, with March temperatures usually averaging around 75F and very low levels of rainfall.

There are plenty of great events to help you enjoy a party atmosphere, such as M3F Festival (March 1-2) and Innings Festival (February 23-24) – both of which feature live music and amusements.

    5. New York, New York

The ‘Big Apple’ will always be one of the most popular domestic destinations at any time of year.

That was proven in 2023 when a record number of travelers flew through the three major airports that serve NYC.

Away from its unrivaled selection of incredible restaurants covering the entire price scale, New York has several chilled things you can enjoy during spring such as a walk along the High Line, which will be bursting with floral color.

    4. Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles has the perfect spring break combination of amazing nightclubs and bars to dance the night away, as well as golden sandy beaches to slowly bring yourself back to life under the warm sun the next day.

There’s almost no end to the excellent hotels you can choose to stay at in Los Angeles as well as some unique spots to take in the views over the city while you enjoy a cocktail such as 71Above and Perch LA.

In between parties, Los Angeles offers the opportunity to tour its famous movie studios and even has many miles of hiking trails throughout the city to help you walk off the hangover.

    3. Miami, Florida

For great food, culture, and nightlife, American cities don’t come much better equipped than Miami.

This beloved Floridian destination has been breaking all kinds of records for tourism over the last year, and it looks set to remain popular as we move into this spring.

However, one thing to be aware of with Miami this year is that local authorities have been talking about introducing curfews for spring break this year between midnight and 6am in popular locations such as South Beach.

This is due to some issues the city experienced last year with unruly revelers and crime.

    2. Las Vegas, Nevada

Fresh from breaking a tourism record in 2023 and then hosting the Super Bowl this February, it seems that Las Vegas is an even more exciting place to visit than usual right now.

And with more affordable flights than ever heading into ‘Sin City’ combined with accommodation prices that seem to have stayed a little lower compared to many other major American destinations, it makes an ideal place to enjoy thawing out after winter.

    1. Orlando, Florida

There really is something for all the family in Orlando.

From the theme parks to some truly world-class dining and nightlife, this city seems like it was ready-made for a spring vacation.

There’s so much more to Orlando than just Disney World, including the opportunity to grab a bargain at an outlet mall, get up close with nature in one of the many nearby parks and nature reserves, or just chill by the pool in one of its fabulous hotels.

April is here, which means spring break (or Easter to some), and that also means taking a vacation that lasts up to a week.

Most Americans want to head somewhere warm after suffering through the cold for most of the year, and Expedia is noticing a rising trend in searches for warmer climates.

Not to say Americans are habitual, but we’ve seen the same destinations appearing around this time in other years.

Aerial view from drone on caribbean seashore with coconut palm trees and sunbeds. Summer holidays. Travel destination.

Traveling to the same place can be a good thing. Sometimes you can discover something new about a favorite destination by looking at it differently.

The Caribbean is beautiful since it has diverse cultures, gastronomy, and people.

If you’re considering heading somewhere this April, check out some of these destinations.

They might not surprise you since most of them have been favorites for quite some time now, but they are a sure bet for some sun, great beaches, and fantastic food.

According to Expedia, here are the top three destinations to visit:

    San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan, Puerto Rico, is one of the minor islands in the Greater Antilles, but it holds a culture and flavor that is immediately recognizable.

From dancing salsa to eating foods like mofongo (fried plantains), the island has tons of character that anyone will appreciate. It’s also extremely close to the United States, making this an easy trip.

Even better, you don’t need a passport to travel here. Considered by some “a modern-day colony” of the United States, traveling here just requires a U.S. license or identification.

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, United States.

San Juan is the capital city, and it holds treasures like el Viejo San Juan, a colonial architecture masterpiece and the oldest city in the United States.

More than just its architecture, you can find some of the best food and drink in San Juan.

Beautiful tropical palm trees at popular touristic Condado beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Places like The Cannon Club (a piano wine bar) and La Factoría have some of the best cocktails and drinks in the city, and the ambiance is to die for.

Here you’ll drink and (possibly dance) with locals and travelers in 500-year-old buildings once used by the Spanish military.

Other places to check out are Museo de Las Americas which showcases some of the colonial histories on the island, and Atlantic Beach.

These are just examples of the island’s diversity, and it’s no surprise searches have risen 10% for this tiny but mighty destination.

San Juan streets on a sunset.

    Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Another Caribbean island that has seen flight searches rise by about 10% is the Dominican Republic.

Neighboring Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic is home to some of the best all-inclusive hotels, and you can find a significant portion of them in Punta Cana.

The beaches here are the main attraction, but if you find yourself on the island, check out some local food.

Resort at Atlantic ocean in Punta Cana with turquoise water and palms on the shore, Dominican Republic.

Dishes like mangú (mashed plantains) are a local favorite and an excellent way to discover gastronomy that genuinely belongs to the island.

Pro tip: order it for breakfast with some eggs and salami. It’ll blow your mind.

Street musicians in the Dominican Republic. Santo Domingo Columbus Park, Colonial Zone.

    Montego Bay, Jamaica

Lastly, we have Montego Bay, Jamaica. There are so many things to do in this city that it’s impossible to explore all of them during one visit.

According to Expedia, searches have risen this month by 20%, which is fantastic and not a surprise considering how amazing this place is.

    Beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Like two other Caribbean islands, gastronomy is on another level. If you’ve never had jerk chicken (seasoned chicken) before, you need to book a flight here immediately!

Attractions like Dunn’s River Falls and the Blue Hole are some favorites.

Montego Bay also has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Places like Doctor’s Cave Beach are famous for their crystal blue waters.

Aerial view on beautiful Caribbean beach and pier in Montego Bay, Jamaica island.

Each island offers something different to travelers, and it’s no surprise they’re becoming increasingly popular every year.

According to Expedia, these are the top three destinations to visit right now. We know either three of these destinations will offer a fantastic vacation.

  • Top 6 Cultural Hotspots To Visit This Year According To Expedia

Top 6 Cultural Hotspots To Visit This Year According To Expedia

    [ad_1]

    Share The Article

Cultural hotspots have become more and more relevant in recent times. Since the pandemic, the idea of going on vacation has changed, and more people are looking for destinations with authentic cultures. Theme parks are known as the best places to go with your family, but people understand that some of them are a bubble. Some travelers like those bubbles because they are safe and predictable. But what about the other travelers that enjoy a little more adventure?

    Tuk Tuk taxis in Lisboa.

Exploring different cultures is an excellent way to educate yourself and your loved ones on our differences. It’s also a perfect way to showcase our similarities and show that we’re not alone. More and more travelers are becoming aware of those ideas and booking cultural hotspots. Check out this list of the top six cultural hotspots to visit this year, according to Expedia.

    Edinburgh, Scotland

Scotland has been on many people’s radars for the last couple of years, with 2023 expected to be the year the United Kingdom home state shines. Edinburgh, Scotland sets itself apart with its mix of art and culture different from the rest of the United Kingdom. In 2023, they’re planning the world’s most prominent arts and media festival.

    Lisboa (Lisbon), Portugal

Right before the pandemic, the Azores were becoming a thing, and that’s because multiple outlets were showcasing the islands as outdoorsy heaven. Now the urban city of Lisboa is beginning to get noticed. If you travel to this destination in 2023, check out the Time Out Market and grab a plate of bacalao (cod fish). If you want to see the city but fear its winding hills might be too much, grab a tuk-tuk taxi that will take you around. It’s a cute way to explore the historical province of Estremadura. It’s also very TikTok-friendly.

    Tokyo, Japan

Japan as a country has a lot going on this year, and Tokyo is on the verge of being a cultural dominator. If you make it out east, check out the bustling Shimokitazawa neighborhood, and if you’re feeling more adventurous, take a ride with the East Japan Railway Company. These luxury sleeper trains will take you around Japan, stopping in regions like Tohoku, where you can catch some of the best natural scenery the country can provide. Pro tip: head over in Autumn to see the fall foliage and save money on ticket prices.

    Dublin, Ireland

For a good reason, Dublin is fast becoming a favorite for many travelers. The city is affordable, packed with the cutest pubs, and the perfect place to catch a football (soccer) game. Hotels like the amazingly sustainable Wren Urban Nest have modern amenities but accessibility to the main happenings in the city. If you want to see why they often associate green with Ireland, head over to The Wicklow Escape.

This charming bed and breakfast is smack in the middle of Wicklow, the most beautiful area for hiking and exploring. If you’re interested in what type of spirits Ireland can provide, check out the Glendalough Distillery.

You’ll find gins and whiskeys made locally with a botanical forager supplying some of the season’s best flavors. Getting here is accessible; Aer Lingus has many flights from most major airports and is usually a one-way shot from most eastern cities.

Dublin, Ireland old stone building surrounded by greenery

    New York, USA

This city has so much to do, but if you want an excellent cultural experience, check out the town’s neighborhoods. The big apple is the perfect cultural hotspot for anyone looking for great pizza, fantastic broadway shows, and some of the best time-preserved neighborhoods like Chinatown and Little Italy.

These neighborhoods have been around forever, and you can get some of the best food there. Spanish Harlem and the Lower East Side have great Puerto Rican food, and you’ll always go right with pasta in Little Italy.

    Sydney, Australia

WorldPride 2023 will be in Sydney, Australia, this year; that celebration will be fantastic. Sydney is already an incredible city, but WorldPride will take it to another level, and if you’re a fan of LGBTQ+ events and celebrations, you must check it out. From February 17 to March 5, you can join festival parties like Mardi Gras and Queer Art After Hours. You’ll learn about Queer history while being able to party the night away.

Cultural hotspots are becoming the most significant trends for 2023, and we highly encourage checking out one of these cities. They are diverse enough for every type of traveler, and crossing at least one of them off your bucket list will give you bragging rights for the rest of the year.
