After years of delays and confusion, the ETIAS travel pass has a firm deadline, and the countdown has officially begun.

1. Check Your Passport Expiration Date Right Now 🛂

This is the single most important and actionable tip on the list. An approved ETIAS will be valid for three years, or until your passport expires—whichever comes first.

Think about it: if you apply for your ETIAS with a passport that expires in one year, your ETIAS will also expire in one year. To get the absolute maximum value, you’ll want to apply with a passport that has at least three years of validity remaining.

The Pro Move: Check your passport’s expiration date today. If it’s set to expire in 2027 or 2028, consider renewing it in early 2026 before you apply for your first ETIAS. This simple step will lock in your travel authorization for the full three years.

2. Bookmark The Official Website (And Ignore The Fakes)

As soon as the application portal goes live, the internet will be flooded with scammy, third-party websites trying to charge you exorbitant fees for the exact same service. Don’t fall for it.

There will only be one official ETIAS website run by the European Union. While it’s not fully operational for applications yet, you should bookmark the official homepage now:

- Save this link, and when the time comes, apply directly through the official source. It will save you money and protect your personal information.
3. Know What ETIAS Isn’t

A lot of the panic around ETIAS comes from a simple misunderstanding. Let’s clear it up.
- It’s NOT a visa. It’s a simple, online visa waiver, much like the ESTA for visiting the U.S. There are no embassy appointments or interviews.
- It does NOT guarantee entry. You still need to go through passport control like always.
- It’s NOT needed for the UK or Ireland. ETIAS is for the 30 countries in the Schengen Zone and its associated members. The United Kingdom and Ireland have their own separate entry rules.
4. Add It To Your Mental Travel Budget

The good news is that the ETIAS is incredibly cheap. The application fee will be €7 (about $7.50 USD), and travelers under 18 or over 70 are exempt from paying.

While it’s a small amount, it’s a new cost to factor in. The best way to think of it is like a new standard travel fee, similar to a checked bag fee or a city’s tourist tax. Just know that for any trip to the Schengen Zone from late 2026 onwards, this will be part of the plan.

5. Know Which Countries Will Require The Pass

This is the most critical checklist item. Knowing where you’ll need the pass is key to a smooth trip. The ETIAS will be required for entry into the following 30 countries:

There’s a new monthly pass for digital nomads that’s generating a lot of buzz right now — but is it really worth the hype?

Landing, a furnished apartment rental platform that specializes in mid-term stays, has just announced its new Nomad Pass for $1,495 per month.

The pass includes unlimited access to furnished apartments plus unlimited free flights on Frontier Airlines with the inclusion of a GoWild! Pass.

But is this deal actually too good to be true?

Here’s what you need to know about the Nomad Pass, and whether or not it’s actually worth it.

What Does The Nomad Pass Include?

The Nomad Pass includes access to Landing’s 20,000+ fully furnished apartments across more than 375 cities in the United States.

These apartments are modern, stylish, and fully equipped. WiFi and utilities are included, so you can move right in and start working.

Included in the $1,495 Nomad Pass is a Frontier GoWild! Pass, a value of over $599. These passes were introduced in 2022 and allow unlimited flights on Frontier — but with lots of caveats.

So is this actually a good deal?

Here’s the good, the bad, and the ugly about the Nomad Pass.

Who The Nomad Pass Is For

The Nomad Pass might be worth it for digital nomads and remote workers who are extremely flexible with where they stay and don’t mind having a lot of uncertainty in their plans (see the cons below for more details on why this is important!)

One of the major benefits of the Nomad Pass is that you get access to high-quality furnished apartments with WiFi and utilities included for just $1,495 a month.

This is much cheaper than any decent apartment in most major U.S. cities, and Landing has properties in top digital nomad cities like Chicago, Denver, Austin, Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte, and more.

If you’re okay with moving around a lot, the Nomad Pass could be a viable option for living in lots of cool U.S. cities and trying out different neighborhoods.

You can also get some good mileage out of the included Frontier GoWild! Pass, although it does come with numerous restrictions (more on that below.)

So who shouldn’t get the Nomad Pass? Here’s why it may not be as great of a deal as it sounds like…

Why The Nomad Pass Isn’t Worth It

One of the biggest drawbacks of the Nomad Pass is that you will be part of Landing’s “Standby” membership.

So while you have unlimited access to their 20,000+ apartments, you can be “bumped” at any time if a standard member decides to book that apartment.

You’ll only get 3 days’ notice if you’re being bumped, and while Landing will help you find an available apartment in their inventory, you might be left scrambling to move into the next place quickly.

This is a major con because even for digital nomads who are on the move frequently, having to potentially move every 3 days and not being able to maintain a consistent schedule can make life difficult.

Also, the Frontier GoWild! Pass comes with similar catches.

There are a number of blackout dates, you still have to pay taxes and fees (so the flights aren’t really free), and you can only book flights one day in advance.

These factors make planning ahead very challenging since you have no guarantee of where you’ll be staying in a week or where you can fly to next, until the very last minute.

And finally, there will only be 1,000 Nomad Passes available at first, meaning it will be nearly impossible to even obtain one of these elusive passes.

These Are The 30 European Countries Americans Will Need A Travel Pass To Visit

Do your 2024 travel plans include visiting La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona or a gondola ride in Venice? If so, you’re going to have to plan on applying for a travel pass beforehand.

And, no, we’re not talking about the tourist tax to enter Venetian city limits or Spain’s Sustainable Tourist Tax. We’re talking about the ETIAS, which is set to launch in 2024.

Americans (and travelers from other countries like Canada and Great Britain) currently don’t require any special visa or travel pass to enter the Schengen area and other parts of Europe for short-term stays under 90 days.

However, the ETIAS is set to change that.

Here’s what to know if you’re planning a trip to Europe next year as an American or a passport holder from one of the other 59 different visa-exempt countries.

What Is The ETIAS?

ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorisation System. It’s a new system that will require visa-exempt nationals, like Americans, to request and pay for a travel pass before entering certain European countries.

And while that sounds a whole lot like a visa, it’s important to note that it’s not the same thing. Instead, it’s a travel pass, which is technically a visa waiver.

It’s similar to the ESTA some foreign travelers are required to have when visiting the US or Canada’s eTA.

The point? It’s not to make travel harder for Americans. It’s ultimately designed to help the European Commission enhance security and prevent travelers from overstaying their visit.

So, when will these new rules go into effect? The ETIAS was approved in 2016, but its official launch has been delayed numerous times.

Currently, all official websites note that the date is “from 2024,” but they’ve provided no official start date.

If you’re traveling to Europe in 2024, we suggest staying updated with travel news and bookmarking the European Union’s official ETIAS page to periodically check for updates.

Which European Countries Do Americans Need A Pass to Enter?

While there’s still no official start date, officials recently announced the complete list of 30 European countries where Americans and other visa-exempt nationals will need a travel pass to visit once the program launches.

The full list includes the following countries:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Cyprus
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Hungary
- Iceland
- Italy
- Latvia
- Liechtenstein
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Poland
- Portugal
- Romania
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- Spain
- Sweden
What if you’re planning to take a larger trip throughout several European countries in 2024? You only need one ETIAS.

The ETIAS travel pass is linked to your passport and is valid for three years or until that travel document expires (whichever comes first).

Applying For The ETIAS

Because the ETIAS is not a visa, applying for one is pretty straightforward.

In fact, it’s set to be as simple as applying for the eVisa required for Americans to enter Turkey or the Electronic Travel Authority they have to apply for when visiting Australia.

To get an ETIAS, you’ll fill out an online application. You’ll enter information such as your passport number, place and date of birth, address, email address, and travel information.

You’ll also have to provide information about prior criminal convictions, your current occupation, and information regarding your length and purpose of stay.

Then, you’ll pay the €7 fee and wait for your application to be approved (applicants under 18 and over 70 are exempt from paying this fee!).

It shouldn’t take any longer than four days (although ETIAS.com says 95% of people should be approved within minutes) unless they request further documentation, in which case it could take up to 14 to 30 days.

ETIAS Doesn’t Guarantee Entry

Unfortunately, simply having the ETIAS doesn’t automatically grant you entry to any of the 30 European countries in the list above.

You still have to go through the regular passport control check, where a border control agent will check your passport and any other required documentation.

This could include asking to see travel insurance, requesting proof of sufficient funds during your stay, or even asking to see accommodation reservations.

Ultimately, they have the last say on whether you’re allowed in or not, so check the entry requirements for the country you’re flying into just to be sure.

And finally, stay up to date on ETIAS news. Until it’s officially launched, start planning your European getaway by looking into underrated European cities to visit.

Are you planning a trip to Europe this summer? Here’s what you need to know about the Eurail Pass and whether or not it’s worth it for travelers.

The Eurail Pass allows you to travel between 33 European countries by train for one price.

There are various passes available based on different durations and how many days you plan to travel by train within a given timeframe.

For example, you can purchase an unlimited one-month Eurail Pass or a cheaper Eurail Pass that allows you to travel for seven days within one month.

So how can you determine if the Eurail Pass is worth it or not?

Here are some important things to know before you buy the Eurail Pass!

How Much Does It Cost?

There are many different passes available. You can see all the prices on the Eurail website, but here’s a sampling of the costs for the most popular Global Passes:
- Fifteen days within two months: $565
- Seven days within one month: $384
- One month unlimited: $767
- Fifteen days unlimited: $507
These passes allow unlimited train travel within 33 European countries.

However, if you are only traveling to one country in Europe, you can purchase a One Country Pass that covers intercity train travel within that country.

The unlimited pass typically only makes sense if you’ll be traveling every one or two days. Otherwise, the passes that allow for a certain number of travel days within a given timeframe are a better value.

Youth And Senior Discounts Available

The Eurail Pass offers a discount for youth travelers and senior travelers, which can make the pass a really good deal.

For youths aged 27 and under and seniors aged 60 and older, you’ll get a 25% discount on your Eurail Pass.

This means that a Eurail Pass that allows you to travel seven days within one month would only cost $288 for youths and seniors, as opposed to $384 at the regular adult price.

Extra Fees May Apply

The Eurail Pass allows for unlimited train travel within 33 European countries, but it’s important to note that additional reservation fees may apply.

These fees typically only apply to high-speed trains and night trains and can range from around €10 to €20 (approximately $11 to $22 USD.)

If you plan to take lots of high-speed trains and night trains, you’ll want to factor in these extra fees to determine if it still makes financial sense to buy the Eurail Pass.

Consider Your Itinerary

Another important thing to do before buying a Eurail Pass is to consider your itinerary.

Eurail Passes offer the best value and make the most sense for travelers who plan to visit several different countries that are all close to one another.

If you’re planning to hop all over Europe, a Eurail Pass doesn’t make as much sense because you’ll end up spending a lot more time in transit than if you just flew.

Is The Eurail Pass A Good Value?

The Eurail Pass is not necessarily the most budget-friendly option for traveling around Europe.

However, it can be a good value depending on how you use it (for example, if you can avoid paying additional fees for high-speed trains and night trains.)

It can also be a good value in countries where purchasing individual train tickets is extremely expensive, like Switzerland.

If you qualify for the youth or senior discount, it can definitely be worth it.

Additionally, traveling by train in Europe is more scenic, comfortable, and less stressful than flying. So even if it doesn’t save you much money, the convenience and more enjoyable experience may be worth it to you.

Disney fans have something familiar to look forward to this month. Walt Disney World just announced they are bringing back popular annual passes.

These passes were a fan favorite for Disney lovers but were previously discontinued over a year ago.

The mammoth family entertainment company posted a blog earlier this week with exciting details of what’s to come in Orlando’s main attraction.

Many former pass holders have practically been begging for the return of these passes. Disney officials confirmed, ”we heard you loud and clear!”.

What Disney Fans Will Receive With An Annual Pass

Beginning April 20, passes can be purchased online directly through Disney’s official website.

Although, quantities will be limited. The expectation is for certain passes to sell out quickly!

Those who are able to snag a pass in time will benefit greatly from the new amenities. Disney has taken feedback from prior users and made necessary changes to make this re-launch a hit!

Starting April 18, those with an Annual Pass will have access to theme parks after 2 pm without needing to make a reservation, with the exception of the Magic Kingdom on weekends.

Currently, Disney does sell $399 annual passes, but it is limited to residents of Florida for the Pixie Dust pass.

So, this will not be a new addition to the lineup. Current Pixie Dust consumers will have the option to upgrade once passes become available for sale online.

The upcoming passes will have a big jump in pricing but will offer many perks for its users.

Those who take advantage of the new passes can expect:
- Journey of the Water in Epcot
- TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom
- Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrates their 25th anniversary
Disney Pirate Pass

First, Disney will launch the Disney Pirate Pass. This pass is one step above the current Pixie Pass in terms of how it will benefit guests.

Just like the Pixie Pass, this option is limited only to those with a Florida address.

Main benefits:
- Discounts on souvenirs, food, and more
- Hold reservations for up to 4 days at a time
- Vacationers staying at select hotels can add additional reserved times
- Admission to Disney World theme parks on most weekdays (some limitations may apply)
Pricing for this pass will be $749 plus taxes. Financing options are available.

Disney Sorcerer Pass

Next in line with more perks than the Pirate Pass is the new Sorcerer Pass. This pass is not limited to Florida residents, as Disney Vacation Club members are also welcome to purchase.

Vacation Club members will actually have access to a pre-sale on April 13 as part of their membership privileges.

This pass has the exact benefits of the Pirate Pass. However, instead of holding reservations for 4 days, Sorcerer pass holders will be able to extend that by an extra day.

In addition, they will also have theme park parking perks to start a fun day off right.

Pricing for this pass will be $969 plus taxes. Financing options are available.

Disney Incredi-Pass

Anyone anywhere is free to purchase the highly anticipated Disney Incredi-Pass. Blockout dates apply to both the Pirate and Sorcerer varieties.

The Incredi-Pass, however, does not have any blockout date restrictions at all. Users will also be able to hold theme park reservations for up to 5 days.

Pricing for this high-end pass will be $1399 plus taxes. Financing options are available.

Since May, US air travelers have experienced an increase in flight delays by approximately 25% compared to last year. To make those dreaded flight delays a little more bearable, here are some easy and fun ways to pass the time at the airport.

Hit Up The Lounge

This may seem like an obvious one, but don’t rule out the option to check in at the airport lounge if you’re flight is delayed by a few hours or more. Whether you’re a frequent flyer with lounge access already or are thinking about splurging on a day pass, airport lounges can really help ease the stress of travel delays.

Before your trip, we recommended checking the lounge amenities of where you’ll be flying out of so that you can gauge if your splurge will be worth it. Many lounges come with free food, drink, showers, nap pods (!), workout equipment, and even a spa – a stay here is practically a vacation in itself.

Catch Up On Your Podcasts

Thailand Drops The Thailand Pass For Easiest Entry Requirements Yet

Thailand’s government has revealed its plans to completely drop the Thailand Pass needed for entry, paving the way for the country’s easiest entry requirements since the start of the pandemic. The popular Southeast Asian country, whose capital city Bangkok was once crowned the world’s most visited city back in 2019, has struggled to welcome tourists in large numbers since introducing strict entry requirements as Covid-19 spread, but that could all be set to change with the removal of the pass.

The removal of the Thailand Pass is just one of several measures that Thailand will be adopting next month as it repeals several Covid-related rules, such as the mask mandate and strict regulation of its nightlife industry. Here’s a look at what is set to change in the country, and how travelers can enter the country from next month.

Thailand Pass Removed – Information For Travelers

Ever since the Thailand Pass was launched last year, it has undergone several different facelifts and rule changes as the country reacted to the changing situation regarding the pandemic. From large insurance requirements and proof of vaccination, to booking stays in quarantine hotels and post-arrival testing, Thailand hasn’t made it easier for travelers to be able to enter the Land Of Smiles – until now.

Following a government meeting, it was revealed yesterday that Thailand would be removing its Thailand Pass requirements for all foreign travelers from July 1st. That means that travelers will no longer have to apply for a Thailand Pass in order to enter, nor will they need to purchase an insurance policy that covers Covid-19 prior to flying to the country. Thailand will also be removing its thermal scanning facilities at its borders.

There are still some Covid-19 related restrictions that are set to remain. Travelers will still need to have either proof of vaccination against the virus or a negative test result to enter the country, as arrivals will be randomly checked for these documents. Tests can be either a RT-PCR or professional ATK test taken within 72 hours of travel. Unvaccinated travelers who are randomly checked and cannot produce a negative test result will need to undergo a professional ATK test at the point of entry.

The Thailand Pass – with its bug-filled website and out of date entry requirements – has longer since been viewed with travelers as a significant barrier to travel, with many choosing to visit other, requirement-free destinations instead. Now that it is set to be removed, travelers are expected to travel to the country in their droves, bringing respite to the country’s ailing tourism industry.

Travelers will also be glad to know that the removal of the pass isn’t the only significant policy change starting on July 1st. Also from this date, the country will be partially repealing its mask mandate, making the wearing of masks when outdoors or in uncrowded places voluntary. Masks will still be required in situations such as public transport, markets and at concert venues, but travelers can look forward to mask-free strolls on the beach. More provinces are also set to become “green zones”, allowing more business types such as bars to open for longer.

Each of these changes are subject to their publication in the Royal Gazette, a process in the Thai legal system that is needed before changes become law, but their ascension into law is expected to be granted. It’s been a month full of change in Thailand, with the country also recently legalizing the use of cannabis – making it the first country in Asia to do so.
