Nothing screams “summer” quite like a getaway to some stunning Caribbean island.

But as some of us grow tired of going to the same ol’ places over and over again and others try to avoid the insane tourist crowds at some of those all-time favorite hubs, there’s one destination with surprisingly untouched beaches that emerges as the region’s trendiest hotspot.

View of Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas

Paradise Island in the Bahamas welcomed close to 1.9 million visitors in the first four months of 2024 alone, which not only marks a 13.2% increase from the same time last year but also lets us know that an even more successful summer season lies ahead.

But what is it about this place that sets it apart from so many other Caribbean gems of its kind?

    Stick around to find out.

Some Of The Caribbean’s Most Incredible Beaches

I know, I know – all Caribbean beaches are postcard-worthy, but it’s about time we accepted that some are simply more impressive than others.

Cabbage Beach in Paradise Island, Bahamas

You’ll see what I’m talking about as soon as you set foot on Paradise Island and catch a glimpse of the pristine white sand and translucent-looking waters.

While you could argue that the entire island is one big beach you won’t be able to get enough of, there are actually a couple of places that might be worth a visit more than others.

My personal top picks would be Cabbage, Paradise, and Colonial Beach – all different enough so that you don’t feel bored, but similar in what really matters – to-die-for views and the best waters you’ve ever swam in.

    Beach in Paradise Island, Bahamas

Flying To This Actual Paradise Has Never Been Easier

When people named this place, they weren’t kidding – it’s an actual real-life paradise!

And now, you can just hop on just about any plane and take it all in, thanks to the many airlines that have come out these past couple of years with new exciting routes to the Bahamian gem – well, to Nassau, but Paradise Island is just an 18-minute drive away from the Bahamian capital, so all the same.

Even budget-friendly carriers like Southwest and Jetblue have thrown their hats in the ring, making the once mysterious island reachable only by a lucky few more accessible than ever.

    Underbelly of JetBlue Plane

Not only have these companies helped expand scheduling opportunities, but they’ve also had a noticeable impact in lowering airfare prices from competitor airlines, too – as we speak, some tickets are priced at a little over $200.

Here, You’ll Find Everything From Budget-Friendly Stays To Indulgent All-Inclusive Resorts

I want to preface this by saying that there aren’t any really cheap hotels in Paradise Island, at least not ones widely available to the public, so the use of “budget-friendly” here is a bit subjective.

For example, one of the best lower-cost stays on the island is Comfort Suites, whose rooms start at $370 per night.

    Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas

Still, consider the fact that these are all big-ish resorts where you pay for more than just your stay, it all balances itself out; and when it comes to iconic places like the Atlantis Paradise you pay for the service and overall atmosphere, too.

The good news is that if your budget doesn’t allow for any of that, you can always book something cheaper ($80-$120 a night) near Nassau and drive back and forth whenever you want to take advantage of Paradise Island’s unreal beaches – I guarantee it’ll be worth it.

A Surprisingly Lively Hub With Lots To Explore

At just 1.1 sq mi (2.8 km2), you’d expect Paradise Island to be a tree-filled piece of land when nothing really happens.

Wine being poured from a bottle to a glass

Luckily, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The island’s event calendar is jam-packed this summer, and depending on what you’re into, you can take your pick between culinary festivals, basketball matches, wine tastings, gallery openings, and monastery excursions.

However, if being among nature is your top priority this summer, Paradise Island is still a fantastic choice.

Go diving in the Blue Hole, take on kayaking, try a boat tour or fishing charter, or enjoy a scenic hike – the choice is yours.

Dreaming of a Caribbean getaway in 2024? These are the hottest new resorts opening throughout the Caribbean this year, according to a list from TravelPulse.

Some of these resorts are located on familiar favorite islands (like the Dominican Republic) while others are opening on lesser-known but trending islands such as Grenada, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines.

Here are the top Caribbean resort openings to have on your radar in 2024:

Woman Walking on the Beach in the Caribbean

Sandals Saint Vincent And The Grenadines Resort

One of the most exciting new resorts coming to the Caribbean is Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Sandals already has 20 adults-only resorts across the Caribbean, and they are all known for their impeccable all-inclusive service.

This new resort is the most luxurious Sandals yet. Situated on a lush 50-acre property, it will offer over 300 guest rooms and suites, including overwater bungalows.

Although Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an underrated destination in the Caribbean, that will likely change soon as more travelers discover this beautiful hidden gem.

The new Sandals resort is set to open in March 2024.

    Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort

Another new Caribbean resort opening this year is Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Punta Cana is the most popular destination in the Caribbean, thanks to its gorgeous beaches and abundance of all-inclusive resorts.

The Dominican Republic is also known for being one of the most affordable destinations in the Caribbean, so you can enjoy a getaway to paradise without breaking the bank.

This new all-inclusive resort from Hilton will open later in 2024.

    St. Regis Cap Cana

Further expanding Punta Cana’s resort offerings is the St. Regis Cap Cana, a new five-star luxury hotel that is opening in the first quarter of 2024.

Marriott’s St. Regis brand is known worldwide for its ultra-luxury experience.

Guests staying at this hotel will enjoy amenities, including seven swimming pools, an indulgent spa, a fitness and wellness center, and access to the nearby Punta Espada Golf Club.

    Six Senses La Sagesse

Grenada is a lesser-visited island in the Caribbean, but it’s growing in popularity with travelers thanks to the launch of new nonstop flights from the U.S. on JetBlue.

Nicknamed the Spice Island, this gorgeous Caribbean destination will soon welcome the Six Senses La Sagesse, a new luxury resort focused on wellness and sustainability. This 38-acre property will feature just over 70 suites and villas, giving it an intimate, boutique feel.

The Six Senses La Sagesse will open in May 2024.

    Royalton CHIC Antigua

Another exciting new resort opening in the Caribbean this spring is Royalton CHIC Antigua. This resort, which will open in April 2024, is located in the stunning Dickenson Bay area of Antigua.

It’s an all-inclusive adults-only hotel that will feature tons of great amenities for guests.

Antigua and Barbuda is a small island nation that is still lesser-known among American travelers, but well worth a visit.

And getting there is easy — there are actually quite a few affordable flights to Antigua from the U.S. in 2024, making it the perfect time to visit.

    Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman

Finally, travelers can look forward to a new hotel in Grand Cayman. Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman is expected to open in June 2024.

Located on Grand Cayman’s famed Seven Mile Beach, this hotel from IHG will offer over 280 guest rooms and an infinity pool overlooking the ocean.

It’s a great addition to Grand Cayman, which is one of the best destinations in the Caribbean for scuba diving and snorkeling. Grand Cayman is the largest of the Cayman Islands, making it a great choice for travelers wanting a fun, active vacation.

This Stunning Coastal Region In Mexico Has Some Of The Best Resorts In The World

    [ad_1]

    Last Updated

It’s no secret Mexico is a regional leader in luxury travel South of the border.

Nowhere else in Latin America will Americans be extended the same warm hospitality or offered the same world-class amenities and wide range of attractions as they will be by their immediate neighbor.

All along the Mexican coast, from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea, U.S. visitors are certain to have an amazing vacation, but one coastal region in particular has been known to treat them like royalty and ensure they leave with nothing but fond memories when staying.

Resort Zone In Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico

Beating Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Acapulco to the number one spot, this stunning coastal area has some of the best resorts not only in Mexico, but the entire world:

Los Cabos Is The Luxury Tourism Travel Capital

As confirmed by Travel + Leisure in their latest yearly report, the Pacific gem of Los Cabos, in the state of Baja California Sur, lays claim to a whopping nine of the 25 best resorts in Mexico, as well as two of the top hundred hotels worldwide.

The reader-voted award takes into account T+L readers’ opinions on each property’s rooms and facilities, location, the quality of the service provided, food, value, and other factors that are relevant to the resort experience.

Couple Relaxing By The Poolside In A Los Cabos Resort, Los Cabos, Mexico

The highest-charting of them, the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, is the best-reviewed property in Cabo, as well as the 41st best hotel in the world.

With its intimate layout, infinity pools facing the ocean, and state-of-the-art spa facilities, it is a cozy nook for beachgoers looking to relax without leaving the premises, though it is still walkable to town and within driving distance of several of Cabo’s main natural landmarks.

This Is What Makes Los Cabos Resorts Great

View Of A Resort In Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico

The Waldorf claims to celebrate Mexican heritage through cuisine and cultural activities, helping guests immerse themselves deeper in the culture while still getting pampered, and its privileged location between a cliffside and the Pacific makes it particularly scenic – and it’s only one of many.

Rosewood’s majestic Las Ventanas is the second-highest charting hotel, as well as the only other Cabo hotel to feature on the expanded top 100, with its hand-carved wooden ceiling, indigenous Mexican decorations, and limited number of suites and villas at only 84.

Judging by the size of the two leading hotels, it is almost as if travelers are favoring resorts that feel more exclusive, almost never feel busy due to the fewer rooms available, and that focus on wellness: further down the list, the One&Only Palmilla is a prime example of that.

Named one of two best hotels in Cabo for ‘holistic experiences’, alongside Casa Dorada, which did not make T+L’s ranking, it is famous for its green spaces, rustic ambiance and spa premises, promoting a closer contact with nature and utter relaxation.

All Los Cabos properties that have made the top 25 can be seen below, in order of appearance on the expanded list:

    1. Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal
    2. Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort
    3. Zadun, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
    4. One&Only Palmilla
    5. The Cape, A Thompson Hotel
    6. Grand Velas Los Cabos
    7. Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection
    8. Montage Los Cabos
    9. Esperanza, Auberge Resorts Collection

A majority of the resorts above are located in Cabo San Lucas, with only three (Las Ventanas al Paraiso, the Zadun, and One & Only Palmilla) being found instead in the sister-city of San Jose del Cabo. For context, together, they form ‘Los Cabos’, or The Capes.

Americans Can’t Get Enough Of Los Cabos

In sum, visitors love Los Cabos for how well they are received and how welcome they feel, from the instant they land at the airport to their time of departure.

This is largely attributed to the resorts’ well-trained, English-speaking staff, award-winning butler service, impressive range of amenities, proximity to California, which makes it easier to get to for West Coast residents, and of couse, Cabo’s safety as a destination.

Tourists Out On The Sea Off The Mainland Coast Of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico

As per the definition used by the U.S. State Department, Baja California Sur remains at Level 2 heading into winter, meaning it is one of the safest beach spots in Mexico.

Over the years, Cabo has carved a niche for itself as the go-to luxury destination for high-end travelers, and the fact nine out of Mexico’s 25 top hotels belong to its development strip is proof of that.

Cabo appeals to several different categories of travelers, from celebrities like Britney Spears, a frequent visitor to the area, to anonymous vacationers looking for a sunny break, and certainly Americans wishing to escape their mundane worries at a majestic all-inclusive.

Many Americans are even planning to cross oceans in search of their perfect ski resort, though in that case, the options become so vast that the task of finding that perfect place for their next winter adventures seems borderline impossible.

    5. Racines-Giovo, Italy

There’s no better way to spend a cozy winter getaway than right in the heart of the Italian Alps, where Racines-Giovo promises skiers of all experience levels pristine slopes, a tranquil atmosphere, and a general sense of exclusivity that makes the 60€ ($64.6) daily pass feel entirely worth it.

Those looking to experience that authentic Italian alpine culture will love exploring the 16.9 miles (27.2 km) of slopes available during peak season, while the cozy mountain villages, delectable cuisine, and warm hospitality will just be icing on the snow-covered cake.

The recently built gondola lift will take you right above the tree line, from where you’ll be able to appreciate the surrounding landscape and state-of-the-art slopes that much more.

    4. Carezza, Italy

While in Italy, you’ll want to add a stop to Carezza, a resort known for its mesmerizing views of the Dolomites and the iconic Catinaccio-Rosengarten mountain range, making this the perfect choice for those in search of some of Europe’s best wintery landscapes.

The well-groomed slopes come in a wide array of difficulty levels, some of which are challenging enough even for the most experienced.

Whether you’re a professional skier or someone seeing snow for the first time in your life, one thing’s for sure – you’re guaranteed to come out of Carezza with notably improved skills.

The Ladin traditions, visible in the local architecture and cuisine, are something that can’t be replicated anywhere else on Earth, while Carezza’s proximity to other renowned ski areas in the Dolomiti Superski allows visitors to explore a vast, interconnected winter paradise.

    3. Les 3 Vallées, France

The largest ski area in the world was ranked third in InsureMyTrip’s list, boasting eight interconnected resorts, an unparalleled expanse of snowy landscapes, and endless learning opportunities for skiers regardless of their age or experience level.

In fact, Les 3 Vallées has a near-perfect 50/50 split between easy runs (greens and blues) and more challenging slopes (reds and blacks).

Amazing winter landscape and ski resort with typical alpine wooden houses in French Alps, Les Menuires, 3 Vallees, France, Europe

Though the sheer size of the place might seem intimidating, the extensive lift system and well-maintained infrastructure make navigating the entire area a breeze, not to mention time-efficient.

After a long day practicing on the slopes, you can wind down in one of the charming nearby villages, where you can even try out a few Michelin-starred restaurants.

    2. Kiroro, Japan

Those trying to look past the typical European ski resorts this winter will love Kiroro, famous for its gorgeous and, more importantly, consistently snowy 300-mile-long (483 km) slopes.

    Club Med Kiroro, Japan

The snow conditions here are something avid skiers only dream about, characterized by frequent, light, fluffy powder that’ll make your holiday pictures seem like something right out of a magazine.

If all that wasn’t enough to convince you to book your tickets to Japan now, Kiroro is one of the cheapest resorts that emerged out of the InsureMyTrip study, with daily passes costing a mere $43 – talk about value!

    1. Les Portes du Soleil, France

Taking the coveted top spot on today’s list is the stunning Les Portes du Soleil, a sprawling ski area straddling the French-Swiss border.

There’s really nothing not to love about this place.

view of les portes du soleil, France

Renowned for its expansive terrain, charming alpine villages, and unparalleled views of Mont Blanc, Les Portes du Soleil offers what can only be described as the quintessential alpine experience.

The area’s vast interconnected ski network spans 12 resorts, including Avoriaz, Morzine, and Champery, just to name a few.

The cost of a daily pass here is admittedly a bit higher, standing at $72; however, considering the location and the quality of the amenities you’ll get in return, that’ll be money well spent.

Traveling with the family or a large group this summer can be costly. With rising gas prices and inflation, buying a plane ticket for more than four people can cost an arm and a leg. That’s why it’s best to look into all-inclusive hotels this summer.

If you’re unfamiliar with the all-inclusive concept, it’s a flat rate you pay at a hotel, and you get things like food and beverages all included in your stay.

Woman in bikini eating fruits and relaxing in swimming pool. All inclusive concept. Summer vacation

Many all-inclusive hotels have almost theme-park-level amenities, so you’ll get most of your buck when there.

Occasional downsides of all-inclusives include heavy partying, which can get overwhelming if you’re not part of the post-college crowd.

That’s why it is important to select the right all-inclusive this summer. It varies on what kind of traveler you are, but getting the right one can make for a great vacation.

Europe is becoming one of the most visited destinations this season, and more all-inclusive are popping up. Take advantage of these offerings, but please remember to check out the rest of the country you’re visiting. People in all-inclusives often get stuck at the hotel and miss out on fun adventures.

These are the top seven destinations in Europe that offer all-inclusive resorts:

Pineapple and melon cocktails at the swimming pool.

    Marbella, Spain

This ritzy part of coastal Spain is known for having some of the best shopping and nightlife in the Iberian Peninsula.

These 6 U.S. Resorts Are The Best For Spring Skiing This Year

    [ad_1]

    Share The Article

Some people reach their limit with winter weather around March and April and jet off to warm beach destinations like Florida, Mexico, or the Caribbean. Others, however, can’t get enough of winter and head to the slopes in search of snow that lingers well into the spring.

Spring skiing doesn’t just mean warmer temperatures and sunshine. It also brings a more casual crowd, cheaper rates, and totally wacky events.

A skier flies through the air

    Why People Love Spring Skiing

Spring skiing can last into the summer months in some places. Resorts with later closing dates aren’t just appealing to skiers who can’t get enough. They also offer a more relaxed vibe, lower prices, fewer crowds, and plenty of fun things to do. Some of the reasons people love spring skiing include:

    • More sun and warmer temperatures
    • Soft snow conditions
    • Fewer crowds
    • More laid-back vibe
    • Epic events like pond skims, live music, skiing in bathing suits, and unique ski challenges
    • Perfect weather for après ski
    • Better deals on flights, lift tickets, and lodgings

We’ve chosen a list of the top resorts for spring skiing in the U.S. where visitors will not only find good conditions well into the spring but also have plenty of après ski options and fun springtime events.

Here is our list of the top 6 ski resorts in the U.S. where you’ll find great spring skiing conditions this year:

    Breckenridge, Colorado

Breckenridge is known as one of the best spots for spring skiing in Colorado. However, there are a few things to know about visiting later in the season. While the mountain typically remains open well into May, they switch to a spring operating plan once the snow and crowds start to dissipate.

This year, the full mountain will remain open until April 17, at which point they will shift operations to the high alpine areas. The terrain available in the high alpine areas is not suitable for beginners.

    Average closing date: Mid-late May

    Mammoth Mountain, California

Mammoth has the highest lift-served terrain in all of California, meaning the average 300+ inches of snow typically lasts longer into the year than other resorts in the state. Powder days in April and May are not unheard of, and in past years the resort has stayed open into June and July.

Average closing date: Mid-June, often later

Mammoth Mountain is one of the best places for spring skiing

    Mt. Bachelor, Oregon

Mt. Bachelor in central Oregon is one of the largest ski resorts in North America but is often overlooked for more well-known resorts. The resort, which sits atop a volcano, is particularly suited to spring skiing because of its shape.

With terrain on all sides of the mountain, skiers can follow the sun and the soft snow that comes with it throughout the day. The entire 4,323 acres of terrain typically stay open until mid-April. After that, it is reduced to around 1,500 acres with reduced hours until it closes at the end of May.

    Average closing date: late May

    Killington, Vermont

Nicknamed “the Beast of the East”, Vermont’s Killington Mountain is the best bet for late-season skiing on the East Coast. The terrain is typically more limited the later it gets into the season, so check before you go, especially if you are a beginner.

Killington hosts plenty of rowdy spring events like the mogul challenge and a pond skim and offers a spring pass with reduced rates.

    Average closing date: mid-May

A spring skier participates in a pond-skim competition

    Snowbird, Utah

Snowbird, located just outside Salt Lake City, stays open longer than most other resorts in Utah. Unlike some other resorts, Snowbird’s spring terrain is suitable for beginners. The warmer spring temps and soft snow make it a great time to learn to ski or ride.

Additionally, Snowbird is known for late-season powder days well into spring. As the season progresses, certain lifts close as the snow recedes. The majority stay open until at least May 1, at which point the mountain is only open on the weekends.

    Average closing date: mid-May

A female snowboarder poses for a photo on the slopes

    Arapahoe Basin, Colorado

Conditions at A-Basin are oftentimes the best in Colorado during the spring season. Because a significant portion of the terrain is north-facing and lifts reach over 13,000 feet, snowpack lasts longer.

Additionally, the mountain often gets hit with big spring storms, meaning April is typically the snowiest month.

    Average closing date: early June

All Resorts, Beaches, And Public Spaces In Mexico Will Be Smoke-Free

    [ad_1]

    Last Updated

Mexico has just launched one of the most comprehensive anti-tobacco measures in the world. Smoking is now banned in all public spaces. The ban was unanimously approved by the Mexican Senate in December 2021 but is now officially in effect.

Aerial view of resort in cancun mexico with pool and beach in view with travelers enjoying their day

    What Are The New Measures?

In a dramatic expansion of the 2008 law, smoking is banned in all public spaces. The new measures include:

    • A smoking ban in public places, including on beaches, at hotels and resorts, public parks, and outdoor bars and restaurants. Together with the 2008 ban, this includes all indoor and outdoor public spaces in Mexico.
    • Prohibiting the promotion of tobacco products by banning advertising and sponsorships by tobacco companies.
    • Tobacco products can no longer be displayed or promoted inside shops where they are sold.

These measures indicate that the only legal places to smoke tobacco is inside private homes or in private outdoor spaces.

    Enforcement

Mexico’s estimated 15 million smokers, along with any tourists who smoke, will now be subject to enforcement if they light up in public. According to a report by Reuters, smokers who violate the law are subject to fines between $50 – $300. It was also noted that smokers who refuse to cooperate with the ban could face up to 36 hours in jail. Businesses such as restaurants and bars that allow smoking in their establishments face fines of up to $46,000.

Concerns have been raised that the ban will be hard to enforce and that it is prone to abuse by authorities willing to accept bribes in exchange for looking the other way.

    What About Vaping?

In the summer of 2022, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador took a harsh stance against alternative tobacco products. He enacted a ban on the import and sale of all e-cigarettes and vaping devices. Officials cited negative health effects and harmful promotion to young people as the main reasons behind the ban. This ban, together with the new measures, means that vape devices and electronic cigarettes cannot be imported, sold, or used in any public places in Mexico.

The New Measures Are Building On Old Laws

In 2008 Mexico took the first steps towards a smoking ban when they enacted a law intended to reduce smoking indoors and in workplaces. The ban prohibited smoking in bars, restaurants, schools, and on public transportation.

It also increased the detail of warnings required to be printed on cigarette packaging to include graphic images of the damage smoking imparts on users. Additionally, shops that sell tobacco products to kids can be shut down. Sales of single cigarettes were banned – users now need to buy an entire pack.

a sign shows the smoking ban in mexico

Why Is There An Outright Ban On Public Smoking In Mexico?

Tobacco use has been known to cause health issues in users for decades, but it is still widely used. According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the use of tobacco is the most preventable cause of death in the world. Approximately 1 million people in the Americas die each year because of the harmful effects of smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke. Smoking accounts for:

    • 15% of deaths from cardiovascular disease
    • 24% of deaths from cancer
    • 45% of deaths from chronic respiratory disease

By increasing tobacco regulation, Mexican officials hope to reduce the drug’s adverse health effects that plague so many of its citizens. By making it inconvenient to smoke, hopes are that fewer people will partake.

The new tobacco regulations in Mexico are welcome news to health advocates around the world. Cristian Morales, former PAHO/WHO Representative from Mexico, has stated that “this amendment represents a historic step forward for Mexico in its anti-smoking policies and reaffirms its role as one of the leaders in the fight against tobacco in the world.
