Spring break might be over but we’ve still got a while to go before spring itself is finished.

For those in North America, the first official day of summer 2023 is June 21st, meaning you still have over 2 months of spring to enjoy (and/or get through), depending on where you are.

The good news is that the time period of late April and May is known as the shoulder season for most of America, which means it’s a great time for domestic travel.

So, if you can get the time off from work (or can swing a workcation or even a hush trip), a trip within the U.S. will come with a lower price tag than one taken during popular spring break travel time or the upcoming busy summer season.

Travel this summer is projected to be busy around the world, and America is no exception.

A large number of Americans are planning on traveling this summer, and many are looking to stay close to home.

This increase in interest means higher prices across the board, so taking advantage of a late spring getaway makes more sense this year than any.

So now that you know why you should be going on a late spring getaway, where should you go?

Well, luckily for you, social media company Ayrshare has compiled a list of the most popular places to travel this spring in the U.S., according to their popularity on TikTok.

By looking at the top 40 spring destinations in the U.S., each location’s hashtag view on TikTok was then factored in to generate a list of the top cities for spring travel.

Average spring weather was also taken into consideration after the rankings were determined.

Based on research by Ayrshare, here are the top trending travel destinations in the U.S. for this spring, according to TikTok:

    Houston, Texas

    • TikTok Views: 4.8 Billion

With an average spring temperature in the high seventies and around 14 days of rain, the weather in Houston allows for a decent spring getaway.

We all know Texas can (and does) get hot in the summer, so checking out some of its beloved cities is a bit more enjoyable in the spring.

    Austin, Texas

    • TikTok Views: 2.3 Billion

With average spring weather not too much different from Houston, Austin comes next on the list of great spring destinations.

There are loads of reasons that Austin is a good idea for a spring trip; from enjoying the many wildflowers that bloom to taking in some NASCAR, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

    Washington, District of Columbia

    • TikTok Views: 2.1 Billion

With an average spring temperature in the mid-sixties, Washington D.C. isn’t as warm as the first two contenders, but since there’s so much to do there, it still ranks quite highly on the list.

From strolling the cherry blossoms to wandering around the many monuments and museums, it’s all definitely more enjoyable than a visit in the middle of summer, when the temperatures spike.

@adventuressashley After seeing that early Cherry Blossom blooms were happening, I make the decision to make an early and unplanned trip to Washington D.C. to catch these beauties! Did you know DC is under 4 hours from NYC? Making it the perfect getaway for 2 nights or even a long weekend! Can’t wait to be back shortly to catch the next wave. Orlando, Florida

    • TikTok Views: 1.6 Billion

Since Orlando is one of the most searched destinations this summer, it should come as too much of a surprise to see it trending on TikTok as well.

Most Americans know Orlando as a pretty solid choice for a getaway any time of year, and spring is no exception.

The spring break crowds have gone, and the weather is perfect for some major thrills at the theme parks.

@visit_orlando There’s an endless amount of adventure in Orlando, but @Themepark Explorers picked a few things you can’t miss. What’s your favorite? #orlando #thingstodoinorlando #traveltiktok #universalstudios #seaworldorlando #adventuretime ♬ Animal (Alternate Version) – Max Farrar

    Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

    • TikTok Views: 1.5 Billion

Long gone are the spring break partygoers, but what remains is the great weather and over 60 miles of coastline for you to enjoy.

Myrtle Beach starts to warm up quite nicely in late spring, and come May, the temperature is perfect for some serious beach lounging.

Now is the time to come if you like it hot but not too hot, and not nearly as crowded as it will be in the summer.

    Denver, Colorado

    • TikTok Views: 931.8 Million

It might be known as a winter favorite, but spring is a great time to explore the Mile High City.

Come to witness the thawing of the snow and watch the landscape turn lush and green before your eyes with wildflowers and trees.

Denver is known to be getting more and more pricey for accommodation, and a visit in the shoulder season will save you some serious cash.

    Portland, Oregon

    • TikTok Views: 641.6 Million

Fancy a trip to Japan to see their famed cherry blossoms but can’t swing the airfare?

Portland might be a runner-up, as the Portland Japanese Garden is one of the most authentic of its kind outside of Japan.

Aside from flowers (of which there are many more to love besides the cherry blossoms), Portland comes alive in the springtime with festivals, waterfalls, and many events for everyone to enjoy.

    Charleston, South Carolina

    • TikTok Views: 409.4 Million

With an average springtime temperature of just over 70 degrees, Charleston is another city that is getting warm but not yet too hot to enjoy its charm this time of year.

Wander the storied streets and take in the wisteria that covers the grand front porches.

Events such as the North Charleston Arts Fest also take place in the spring, so make sure to check the event calendar to take advantage of some fun.

    Los Angeles, California

    • TikTok Views: 242.5 Million

With only an average of 5 rainfall days in the spring, Los Angeles is easily the top pick on this list for those who are looking to avoid some raindrops.

The shoulder seasons of spring and fall also bring clean and crisp air, as you are less likely to be subjected to the smog that can take over in the summer months.

Witness the blooming of Tinseltown and take in the flowers, or head to the beach or amusement parks. Either way, you are sure to have a good time.

    Seattle, Washington

    • TikTok Views: 242 Million

As another top searched-for destination for flights, Seattle’s popularity on social media shouldn’t shock anyone.

Travelers love to come here in the spring before it gets too hot or crowded with summer tourists.

And surprisingly enough, the Emerald City is a good choice weather-wise for a spring trip, only averaging 8 days of rain this time of the year.

Traveling this year can be tricky. With rising gas prices, flights are becoming more expensive, and post-pandemic, everyone wants to go everywhere. Another big topic that is trending is overtourism.

With places like Mykonos and Petra getting an influx of travelers, it’s taking away from what travelers want to do: get away.

Woman on a boat in palawan

You can’t get away if surrounded by a million people, and people realize that.

Now more than ever, people are looking to social media to find their next destination, and one big trend is shouting out the best places to visit before they become too popular.

The era of gatekeeping is no longer, and TikTok is letting loose on the best places to visit right now. They range from places like Saudi Arabia to California and are almost guaranteed to give you those getaway vibes.

Don’t take your time deciding; pretty soon, these destinations will become popular, and even though they are equally as fun, you can say you were among the first to discover them.

Check out the eight destinations you need to visit before they become too popular, according to TikTok:

Tropical landscape with rock islands, lonely boat and crystal clear water, Palawan, Philippines.

    Palawan, Philippines

According to TikTok, Palawan (an archipelagic province) in the Philippines is the next best place to check out.

Here you’ll get total Avatar vibes without trying too hard. Beautiful waters are almost crystal blue/green, surrounded by exciting peaks that seem almost unreal.

Head over to the Puerto Princesa Underground River by boat, where you’ll find total alien vibes.

The island also has fantastic white sand beaches and a cool town. If you’re a fan of scuba diving, this place is excellent for that.

The best times to go are in its dry season, November to May. Check it out before it’s too late.

    Glass Beach, California

Near Fort Bragg, this place is a TikTok and Instagram lovers’ dream. It’s a stone beach with different colored sea glass.

There is so much sea glass here because, back in the 1900s, this used to be a significant trash dumping site. The ocean has rounded out all the glass and brought it back to shore.

Local authorities are working hard to enact specific rules to keep the beach intact.

This is an exciting destination and one you should check out soon. It’s also a great place to learn about sustainability and how to avoid environmental mistakes.

    Zakynthos, Greece

This TikTok screams summer vacation like ASAP.

Located on Zakynthos, an Ionian island in Greece, Navagio beach is what the video mainly shows.

Only accessible by boat, this beach is one of the most famous attractions on the island. There’s a shipwreck on the beach due to a 1980 boat mishap, and the waters there are incredibly blue.

Book your vacations here soon before the beach overcrowds. Other beaches on the island, like Agios Nikolaos, Alykanas, and Tsilivi, are great for travelers looking for a Grecian holiday.

Blue Lagoon 1 and Phu Kham Cave Vang Vieng, Laos

TikTok is not a reliable source for predicting the future, but we’re counting on it to showcase the Blue Lagoon 1 and Phu Kham Cave in Vang Vieng, Laos.

Known as the only Southeast Asian landlocked country, it makes up for that with its mountains and lagoons.

There are about five blue lagoons, and each one of them has its personality and charm.

The one on this TikTok is Blue Lagoon 1, where you can swim in the lagoon surrounded by lush tree-covered mountains.

    Madeira, Portugal

Madeira is a grouping of four islands off the coast of Africa that are part of Portugal.

What makes them unique is it being a hiker’s paradise.

Any outdoorsy person will love the main island due to its volcano, rocky beaches, and many rugged high cliffs.

There’s also delicious wine here, so don’t miss out on that if you’re checking it out.

    AlUla, Saudi Arabia

For the last couple of years, Saudi Arabia has been opening up to the world as a destination, and AlUla is part of that.

If you’ve ever been to Petra in Jordan, you must check out this place.

It’s an ancient oasis city with some of the coolest Nabataean tombs. It’s already becoming trendy, so check it out soon.

If you are somewhere deep in the middle of winters cold grasp right now, it should be no surprise that one of the biggest social media searches at the moment is winter getaways. The hashtag winter sun has over 26 million views on TikTok right now, and there’s no better time to sit and dream about these sunny destinations.

village on the coast tenerife spain trending on tiktok

Each location is known for its long sunny days in March and April, and most of them offer high temperatures as well. If you are looking for some inspiration to get away and escape the winter blues, any of these sunny destinations should help to give you some ideas.

Here are 6 Sunny Destinations Trending On TikTok Right Now

    Tenerife, Canary Islands

    • Average daily temperature: March 66° / April 68°
    • Average hours of sunshine a day in March: 8 Hours
    • Average hours of sunshine a day in April: 8 Hours
    • TikTok Views for #Tenerife: over 1.4 billion views

Most people in the UK and Europe know that the Canary Islands are the warmest you can get in March and April without leaving Europe. Despite being so far south, the Canaries are a territory of Spain, making them still a part of the European Union. Laying off the coast of Western Africa, Tenerife is a clear favorite for many reasons.

It’s been called The Island Of Eternal Spring, and a visit to this diverse land in the months of March or April will bring enjoyable weather without the summer crowds and roasting temperatures.

While the south of the island is much more touristy and arid, don’t miss out on the lush and mountainous north as well. A visit to Tenerife is not complete without a trip up the mountains to the village of Masca, where you can taste the famous coffee drink, barraquito, and watch the sunset into the Ocean.

    Curaçao

    • Average daily temperature: March 81° / April 88°
    • Average hours of sunshine a day in March: 9 Hours
    • Average hours of sunshine a day in April: 10 Hours
    • TikTok Views for #Curaçao: over 6.7 million views

This Caribbean island is known for having some of the best weather in the spring, when it’s warming up but not too hot. March is the driest month of the year, and April is the best, as it’s nice and warm but not too hot yet. March is also a quieter time for the island, as spring breakers don’t venture to Curaçao as much as the other Caribbean islands, and many locals are recovering from the carnivals.

There is no shortage of ways to spend your time on this island paradise. While its ABC island neighbors of Bonaire and Aruba are also good choices, Curaçao seems to be a favorite among those looking for a winter sun getaway.

    • Average hours of sunshine a day in March: 7 Hours
    • Average hours of sunshine a day in April: 8 Hours
    • TikTok Views for #Malta: over 2.4 billion views

If it’s history and culture you are looking for, Malta might be a good choice for you. This destination enjoys much cooler weather than the others on this list, yet the average hours of sunshine leave for long days exploring in the mild and breezy climate.

You would not want to hike around Malta’s Gozo island in the summer or explore the dusty and windy streets of Mdina or Rabat. It’s still a bit too cold to swim for most tourists in March and April in Malta, but you will see many locals enjoying a dip.

    • Average hours of sunshine a day in March: 9 Hours
    • Average hours of sunshine a day in April: 10 Hours
    • TikTok Views for #PuntaCana: over 1.6 billon views

It’s no surprise that the Dominican Republic has made the list of trending sunny destinations, as its place as a favorite for spring travelers has all but been written in stone. While there are many other choices on the island for sun and sea in spring, it is Punta Cana that travelers seek out the most.

With an average temperate of 80° in April, it’s no wonder so many Americans visit to escape the never-ending winter that grips most of the northern half of the U.S. Punta Cana is also relatively painless and cheap to reach, with a variety of carriers servicing this route form all over the US.

    • TikTok Views for #Cancun: over 7.6 billion views

Although recent news coming out of Cancun and neighboring towns in the Yucatan have been less than favorable for travel, it still remains a long-standing favorite for travelers looking for a beach escape. Through travel warnings, sargassum, and taxi drama, Cancun seems to enjoy large crowds and overall traveler satisfaction. It’s hot and sunny in Cancun in the spring, and it’s easily the cheapest on the list to reach from most places in the U.S.

    • Average hours of sunshine a day in March: 7 Hours
    • Average hours of sunshine a day in April: 9 Hours
    • TikTok Views for #CostaRica: over 12.7 billion views

Costa Rica is having a bit of a moment with US tourists, and the Central American country is drawing crowds nearly year-round. This tropical hotspot has also won the title of Central America’s best tourist destination. Spring, however, is an ideal time to visit, as the dry season is just coming to a close, and the green season is starting to make its appearance.

It’s important to note that Costa Rica is a country with many different climates, from the Pacific coast to the Caribbean and the Central Mountain area in between. March and April will bring different weather to each of these regions, so staying on top of the latest forecasts is crucial to ensure a good holiday.

With temperatures dropping to record lows in large swathes of the U.S., Americans are looking for warmer places to be this season, where they can bury their feet in the sand and bask in the sunshine. It should come as no surprise, then, that these 5 stunning beaches are currently trending on TikTok, amassing hundreds of millions of views.

Why These 5 Beaches Are The Best In The World On TikTok Right Now

As the fastest-growing social media platform right now, TikTok is a great tool for tracking the latest travel trends, learning new travel hacks that will help you save money while traveling, and even uncovering the ugly truth about some of the world’s most popular destinations aesthetic-obsessed ‘Insta-influencers’ would never dare add to their perfect grid.

It also gives us an idea of which sunny locations youngsters are flocking into – and most importantly, why:

    5 – Waikiki Beach, Hawaii (U.S.)

An upscale neighborhood straddling the pristine coast of Honolulu, the largest city in O’ahu, Waikiki is dotted with high-rise properties, tourist complexes, and world-class restaurants ranking among the island’s finest. Its main attraction, however, has to be the man-made Waikiki Beach, watched 43.7 million times on TikTok.

When you picture Hawaii’s long stretches of sand sandwiched between turquoise waters and tree-flanked promenades, it’s probably this beach that comes to mind. Other than sunbathing, TikTok users are particularly enthusiastic about Waikiki’s diverse tourist offer, ranging from surf lessons and snorkeling to beachfront events for all ages.

4 – Vũng Tàu Beach, Vietnam

Vũng Tàu is a quaint fishing town in Vietnam’s Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province. Due to its close proximity to Ho Chi Minh City – the legendary Saigon – it makes for an amazing weekend escape from the hustle and bustle of the regional capital. Arriving at the bay, visitors are greeted by breathtaking views of a long sandy coast with imposing green peaks as a backdrop.

Besides being the ideal place for relaxing and soaking up the sun, viral TikToks show Vũng Tàu as a charming settlement filled with French-styled buildings dating back to the colonial era and historical neighborhoods offering a glimpse into life on the Thai coast. Overall, clips filmed here have collectively hit 61.9 million views on the app.

3 – Nha Trang Beach, Vietnam

Yet another Vietnamese gem was acknowledged as a distinguished beach right now. Contrary to Vũng Tàu, however, Nha Trang is anything but bucolic: it is a well-developed resort city known not only for crystal clear waters, but a lively social scene. Due to its cosmopolitan appeal and stunning nature, no beach site in Vietnam ranks higher on TikTok.

It curves along the famous Tran Phu Street, embellished by a scenic promenade lined with five-star hotels and traditional eateries serving freshly-caught seafood. Rounding out the top three, it has garnered up to 64.9 million views. Needless to say, Vietnam as a whole is one of the trendiest destinations in Southeast Asia right now.

    2 – Pattaya Beach, Thailand

Thailand’s most iconic beach, Pattaya, is highly sought-after both for leisure, encompassing lounging zones and bars, and water sports. Although the central section directly faces the modern development zone and gets overwhelmingly busy in the peak season, the northern part is usually quieter, with a greater sense of seclusion (and less visual pollution).

On TikTok, it is the second trendiest natural attraction, nearly topping the charts with 128.5 million views. Pattaya itself is a center for the culture of the sorts, home to the temple-packed Buddha Hill and the wooden-built Sanctuary of Truth, a prime example of Thai architecture, a museum still undergoing constriction featuring an opulent interior and tall spires.

    1 – Bondi Beach, Australia

In line with AirBnB, which recently added this coastal hub to their list of five destinations expecting to surge in popularity in 2023, the top viral beach content on TikTok is Bondi Beach, a white sand crescent with a distinct laid-back vibe in Sydney, Australia. So far, it has hit 445.8 million views across all TikTok posts, easily claiming the top spot on the list.

Perfect blood-red sunsets, big waves, and a bright blue ocean: it does tick all the boxes. Walking the beach at weekends, especially Saturdays, tourists will find food stalls selling fish and chips and other local produce, as well as beach markets. At certain times of the year, Bondi also houses film and sand sculpture festivals.

Want to find the perfect place to stay on your next trip? Try this useful TikTok hack recommended by a travel expert!

TikTok user Jessica Tsoi created a viral video sharing her unique strategy for planning your next trip.

The popular video platform has had a large impact on the travel industry. Users share videos on travel hacks for everything, from saving money on airline fees to the best way to choose a destination for your next trip.

TikTok has also helped certain destinations skyrocket in popularity after being showcased on the app. It’s a great resource for travel planning and finding inspiration for your next trip.

And in the case of Tsoi’s video, it will help you find the perfect place to stay on your trip.

    What’s The Viral TikTok Hack?

Normally, travelers decide on a destination, book a hotel or Airbnb, and then start planning an itinerary of attractions, sights, and restaurants.

However, the problem with this is that the accommodation they booked may not actually be close to any of the things they want to do. Just because a hotel is top-rated or claims to be in a good location, it doesn’t actually mean it’s close to most of the traveler’s interests.

In her video, Tsoi recommends reverse-engineering your trip instead.

“It has come to my attention that not everyone plans a trip this way. And ever since I started doing this, I can’t look back,” says Tsoi, a frequent traveler who shares travel vlogs on her TikTok account.

Rather than booking a place to stay first, Tsoi suggests using Google My Maps to build out your itinerary first.

This free tool from Google allows you to create your own custom map and drop a pin on locations you want to visit.

Tsoi even suggests going a step further by grouping your pins together and color-coding them based on attractions you want to visit, restaurants you want to try, and transportation options you will use.

Once you’ve done this, you can save your custom map and narrow down the best location to stay based on where the most pins are clustered on your map.

Tsoi also recommends doing a Google search for the best areas to stay in the destination you’re visiting and comparing that to your own map.

Then you can go to a hotel booking engine like Expedia or Hotels.com and zoom in to a particular area, filtering your search results to only show hotels within that zone.

You will see all the hotels available for your target area on your specific dates, and you can further filter by star rating, review score, price, amenities, and more.

What’s The Benefit Of Following This Trick?

Planning your trip this way has several benefits.

First, it allows you to find a place to stay in an area that’s actually close to the things you want to do so you can avoid having to pay for taxis, take a long public transportation journey, or walk for miles just to reach the places you want to go every day.

It also helps you avoid overpaying for a hotel that claims to be in a great location but may not actually be centrally located. It also lets you avoid booking a hotel just based on brand name and not your actual convenience.

Plotting out your itinerary using Google Maps also helps you familiarize yourself with your destination before you go, making things easier and faster once you arrive.

By following this easy TikTok travel hack, you can make planning your next trip a breeze and find the perfect place to stay based on your own custom itinerary.

Viral TikTok Flight Attendant Shares Vital Safety Tips For Your Hotel Room

There’s probably no better travel experts than flight attendants. Most are on the road and up in the air for over half of the year, staying in new hotels in different cities along the way.

For travelers, one of the most important aspects of your trip is staying safe, whether you’re out and about or in your hotel room.

That being said, ever wonder if your hotel room stay is completely safe? A flight attendant shares her top tips on keeping your hotel room safe while traveling.

TikTok Video On Hotel Safety Tips

This flight attendant has gone viral on TikTok recently with one of her videos on hotel safety. She frequently posts videos featuring top travel tips and hacks under the account name CiCi_inthesky – sharing everything from packing tips, how to use air tags, and the importance of using hydration stations at the airport.

The viral video currently has over 6.6 million views on TikTok, where she shares her top tips on how to know if your hotel room is safe and how to keep it that way. Here’s her expert advice:

How To Make Your Hotel Room Safe In Less Than 2 Minutes

    • Keep the door open and check the closet(s), shower, and behind the curtains: CiCi says that when she first enters a hotel room, she props her door open with her bag and checks all main areas of the hotel room to make sure they are free of intruders.
    • Check if the phone works: Once the hidden spots in the hotel room have been checked, she recommends checking to make sure that the hotel room phone works (you want to dial out if necessary, of course).

    • Cover the peephole: After that, close the hotel room door and check to make sure to cover the little spy hole on the door. If your hotel room peephole may not have a cover, CiCi says not to worry. Just use a piece of tissue paper to cover up the peephole so that people can’t see into the room from outside.
    • Put the ‘Privacy’ sign outside the door: Even if you leave the room, keeping the privacy sign on the door is another way to keep your hotel room safe.
hand is opening the peephole on the room door. Interior and object photo, selective focus at hand's part.

Try A Washcloth To Secure The Side Lock

    • Put a washcloth through the side lock: Once you’ve locked your room from the inside, you’ll also want to add a layer of security by using the side lock. To make sure it’s secure, CiCi recommends in the video to put a washcloth through the bar on the side lock before shutting it so that someone can’t disengage the lock from the outside. She explains why here in this video.
    • Leave your bag or suitcase in front of the closed door: Whenever you’re inside the hotel room, CiCi recommends putting your suitcase on the ground right in front of the door. This will help avoid someone from using a hanger or wire to unlock anything from the outside. It also adds that noise factor for extra protection.

More Hotel Safety Tips From A Flight Attendant

    • Keep the hotel TV on with the volume up: When leaving her room, CiCi keeps the TV on with the volume up, “not loud enough to disturb people, just a normal volume I would watch TV on regularly.”
    • Check the fire exits: Also, she mentions that it’s important to know where all of the fire exits are in the hotel. The map of fire exits should be taped to the back of the room door.

Don’t Reveal Your Room Number At Check-In

Another recommendation that CiCi offers is about staying safe during check-in. When you are checking in, make sure the front desk person doesn’t say your room number out loud and that you don’t say your room number, either.

And when going up to your room, CiCi says that it’s important to “always be situationally aware as you go to your room. If your gut is telling you that something is wrong, follow your gut.” This doesn’t mean you have to look paranoid all the time but to just be mindful of what’s around, which is typically the best way to stay safe when traveling in a hotel or anywhere else.

  • TikTok Study Reveals Most Popular Travel Destinations

TikTok Study Reveals Most Popular Travel Destinations

    [ad_1]

    Last Updated

A recent TikTok study published this month has revealed which are the most popular travel destinations in the world right now. Social media has long since had a significant impact on the way we travel and which destinations are considered to be the most en trend and “must-visit” – and TikTok, despite being a more recent global phenomenon than other more established platforms, is front and centre of gauging the demands of the millions of travelers in our post-pandemic world.

Spanning five different continents and billions of views, the top 20 list, compiled by the luggage storage company Bounce, features some of the more typical favorite destinations that travelers have been loving for decades, in addition to some more left-field choices that may come as a surprise. Here’s a look at the world’s most popular travel destinations according to TikTok, plus a look at how the study was completed.

    TikTok Travel Survey

The study, called the TikTok Travel Index, determined the popularity of each of the locations in the study by calculating the total view counts for a range of destinations around the world. Bounce collated the total use of hashtags containing each destination’s name, in addition to other alternative hashtags that were used where appropriate, such as #NYC or #LA. Each of the total view counts found by Bounce are accurate as of May 17th, 2021, making the finding up to date and relevant to the present day.

Most Popular Travel Destinations – Information For Travelers

Taking the top spot as the most popular travel destination on the platform is New York City – the first of five destinations in the US to feature on the list’s top 20. Whilst the attractions of New York City need no introduction, travelers couldn’t get enough of the city on TikTok, as it attracted more than 216 billion views – way ahead of the competition. Home to stunning cityscapes, some of the world’s best restaurants and top social media aesthetic-suiting backdrops such as Central Park, travelers couldn’t get enough of New York City, which will be bracing itself for an army of cell phone-toting travelers this summer and beyond.

Coming in as the world’s second most popular travel destination according to TikTok is Dubai. The TikTok friendly mega city, famed for its luxurious hotels, opulent malls and countless top-class attractions, attracted a whopping 37 billion views as social media users fantasized about days spent hopping across the man-made Palm islands, sampling its gold-crusted steaks and basking in the region’s hot climate.

The third most popular international travel destination on the platform is Istanbul. Somewhat of a surprise in the list, pipping much more established destinations such as Paris, London and Hawaii to a place on the podium, Istanbul garnered almost 17 billion views on the platform. Whether wooed by its sprawling markets, Islamic architecture or activities such as hot air ballooning, travelers reveled in any content based on the Turkish city, which is fast establishing itself as a must-visit destination.

The rest of the top 10 was fairly predictable. London was a close fourth place, attracting 13.9 billion views on the platform, with the photogenic destinations Barcelona and Paris relatively close behind with 12.6 billion and 11.2 billion views respectively. Mumbai was somewhat of a surprise in 7th place, with the Indian mega-city attracting 9.6 billion curious views, whilst the charms of the North America destinations Hawaii, Miami and Toronto sealed their places in the TikTok top 10 with 9.4 billion, 9.1 billion and 8.4 billion views.

    • Bali, Indonesia (6.4 billion views)
    • Chicago, US (6.4 billion views)
    • Kerala, India (6.2 billion views)
    • Berlin, Germany (5.7 billion views)
    • Sydney, Australia (5.1 billion views)
    • Melbourne, Australia (4.7 billion views)
    • Madrid, Spain (4.3 billion views)
