This results in destinations you might not find on some other lists and locations that offer affordable, tourist-friendly activities for guests of all ages.

    Camden, Maine

This idyllic seaside hamlet along the coast of Maine is a perfect place for a getaway, and the town’s many museums and galleries showcase its rich history. The mountains meet the sea here in Camden, and the small postcard-perfect town is only an hour and a half’s drive from Portland.

    Galena, Illinois

If you’ve never heard of Galena, don’t worry. This city seems to fly under the radar, with nearby Chicago taking the majority of the Illinois tourists. There is plenty to do in this 19th-century town, located just east of the Mississippi River. Voted as one of “America’s Best Main Streets”, what Galena lacks in chain restaurants, it makes up for with small boutiques and mom-and-pop diners.

This little historic gem is surrounded by farmlands and vineyards, offering a number of accommodations no matter what you are looking for.

Ireland has long been one of the most popular European destinations for Americans. It is well-connected and relatively close. Flights from the East Coast of the U.S. are just over 6 hours.

Recently, Ireland was voted the best European destination for the 9th year in a row. The Irish culture is welcoming, the landscapes are breathtaking, and there is plenty to do and see throughout the country.

Each year, one of Ireland’s leading newspapers, the Independent.ie, asks readers to weigh in on their favorites across a range of domestic and international categories. Readers choose their favorite Irish beaches, hotels, and overseas destinations.

This year they also asked Irish readers to determine the top visitor attractions for 2023. Here are the top 6 visitor attractions in Ireland, according to Irish readers:

    Beautiful Irish Landscape

    6. Birr Castle, County Offaly

The gorgeous Birr Castle is about a 2-hour drive west of Dublin. While the castle is still a private family home and closed to visitors except during seasonal guided tours, its extensive, well-maintained 120-acre grounds are enough to keep visitors busy for hours. Birr Castle has been owned and occupied by the same family for over 400 years.

During the 19th century, the castle grew as a center of science and was home to the largest telescope in the world for over 70 years. The telescope is still on display at the castle, and the grounds continue to be a site for scientific learning and exploration.

    5. Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin

Kilmainham Gaol is Dublin’s most notorious jail and is one of the city’s most well-known landmarks. Built in 1796, it functioned as a jail for over 100 years. The site was witness to some of the most historic events in Irish history, including the execution of 14 leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising and the fight for Irish independence.

The Gaol was closed in 1924 but was opened as a museum in 1966 by then President Éamon de Valera, who had been imprisoned in the Gaol decades earlier.

    4. Kilkenny Castle

Located a little over an hour from Dublin, the vibrant town of Kilkenny is worth a visit. The Kilkenny Castle is located in the city center, was built in 1195, and was in use for over 800 years. The castle and grounds have been beautifully restored to reflect its aesthetic during Victorian times. Visitors can explore the extensive 50-acre grounds, including the formal garden, through a trail network.

    3. Waterford Greenway

The Waterford Greenway is one of Ireland’s newest attractions. Opened in 2017, the 28-mile car-free path connects Waterford City with the town of Dungarvan. Visitors can rent bikes and cycle the entire route or visit sections of the path.

The scenic route takes visitors along former railroad tracks, along River Suir, over bridges, and through tunnels before ending at Waterford’s beautiful beaches. The path is chock full of Irish history and passes medieval ruins, Viking sites, and Norman castles.

    2. Guinness Storehouse, Dublin

Guinness is the most iconic beverage in Ireland, and the Guinness Storehouse is Ireland’s most visited attraction. In 2019 they welcomed 1.7 million visitors to the site of the original brewery that was opened in 1759.

While it is sold all over the world, it tastes better in its native land, and there is nowhere better to enjoy a pint and learn the storied history of the beer than at the Guinness Storehouse. The Storehouse is part museum, part interactive experience, and ends with a refreshing drink on the top floor, complete with views of Dublin.

    1. Cliffs of Moher, County Clare

The rugged seaside cliffs seen on every Irish postcard are truly a sight to be seen. The stunning Cliffs of Moher are worth the hype. Located on Ireland’s West Coast along the Wild Atlantic Way in County Clare, The Cliffs of Moher welcome over 1.6 million guests each year.

Visitors can walk along the cliffside path while taking in the sights before checking out the informative visitors center that is built into the nearby hillside. Tourists looking for a different perspective can take a boat tour of the cliffs from the nearby town of Doolin.

Bucket list travel experiences are a fantastic travel goal to work towards. Like saving up to buy a home or getting that dream job — bucket list travel could take years or even decades to complete, but the reward is much bigger when you finally get to tick off your long-awaited travel goal.

Check out the top 10 experiences that should be on every traveler’s bucket list:

    Watch the Northern Lights

The Northern Lights, otherwise known as aurora borealis, are a natural phenomenon that vividly light up the night sky with jaw-dropping colors — think of it as nature’s own laser show and light projection.

The colors are usually bright green or yellow, but on rare occasions, you might also see reds and blues. They can be found in select locations in the northern hemisphere, including the Nordic countries, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Greenland; as well as Russia, Canada, and Alaska.

    Motorbike Through Vietnam

One of the most popular ways to see Vietnam is by motorbike, which allows you to experience the vast landscapes and local life through off-the-beaten-path roads. From the mountain villages in Sapa to the white-sanded beaches in Hoi An, the empty forests, and bustling cities, you’ll be amazed at how vast this country is.

With motorbikes going for around a couple of hundred dollars, it’s a great opportunity to explore this exhilarating country on a budget.

    Safari In Africa

You’ll be amazed by the diverse and contrasting landscapes of this remarkable continent, as well as animals you can’t find anywhere else (like the gorillas). From taking a traditional canoe down the Okavango Delta to spotting lions in the wild or walking barefoot on the Kalahari Desert, each bend and turn will offer something new and exhilarating to look at.

Although on the pricier side, a safari in Africa offers different comfort levels, from sleeping on top of a van in a national park to enjoying the fancy linens in a luxurious tent.

    Cruise To Antarctica

With icebergs, penguins, and white desert for miles, this continent is one of the most unusual places to visit. Tourists didn’t begin coming to Antarctica until the late 1950s, meaning this location is relatively new to this generation.

You’ll have the opportunity to hike, kayak, and explore one of the most untouched destinations in the world. Numbers are capped, and you’ll want to make sure you’re choosing a cruise ship that is conscious of the human footprint since the icy environment is very sensitive.

Scuba Dive The Great Barrier Reef

Considered one of the seven wonders of the natural world and the world’s largest coral reef, this expansive reef system off the coast of Northeast Australia stretches over 133,000 square miles. Australia is known for its crystal blue water waters, making it a perfect viewing ground for this colorful water ecosystem.

With over 600 different types of coral in all different shapes and beautiful colors, you won’t be able to keep your eyes off this underwater world, which also provides an essential habitat for diverse animals.

Walk The Great Wall of China

This other wonder of the world stretches over 5,000 miles through grasslands, deserts, and mountains, and it would take around 18 months to walk its full length. The best sections to visit the Great Wall of China would be the north or east of Beijing, with Badaling being the most popular section due to its proximity to the capital.

This wall took over 2,300 years to build over multiple dynasties, so it’s considered a masterpiece in its creation, matched with sweeping picturesque views surrounding it.

    Stargaze In A Desert

There’s nothing more miraculous than watching thousands of freckle-like stars light up the sky and make you wonder what is beyond earth. Deserts offer the perfect location for stargazing because they’re often remote, have very few clouds in the sky, and have zero light pollution.

In an urban area, you’re lucky if you can see one hundred stars, but in remote locations such as the deserts of the United Arab Emirates or the oldest desert in the world, Namib Desert, there are thousands (and great chances for seeing the Milky Way).

    Hike to Machu Picchu

For those feeling adventurous, one of the best ways to get to these ancient ruins nestled in the Andes Mountains is to take the classic Inca Trail route, which is believed to have been used as a pilgrimage route by the Incas in the 15th century. The route is 26 miles long and, on average, takes 4 days to get there.

The walk can be challenging for some, especially due to the high altitude, but the breathtaking terrain and 500-year-old archeological treasures should keep you distracted along the route. When you finally make it to Machu Picchu, you’ll be rewarded with draw-dropping views.

See The Animals Of The Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a group of volcanic islands located on both sides of the equator in the Pacific Ocean and historically have never been attached to a mainland.

These islands are considered incredibly unique for a factor of reasons, from crystal-clear turquoise water made from three ocean currents colliding to its unique animals that have evolved differently over time compared to the same species nearby. A trip to the Galapagos Islands will be a travel experience of a lifetime that you won’t be able to repeat anywhere else.

    Surf In Bali

If you’ve always wanted to understand the feeling of bargaining with mother nature and flying down a wave, Bali is one of the best spots in the world to surf. Considered the Disneyland for surfing, Bali is a year-round surf destination, meaning you don’t need to choose certain times, and you’ll find some balmy sea temperatures that make you feel like you’re floating in bath water. With plenty of beach breaks to explore, you’ll find stunning locations suited to your level.

This Is One Of The Top Destinations In Europe For Sun, Sand, And Culture In 2023

    Last Updated

It’s still only January, but anticipation for summer is at an all-time high in Europe now that it has entered the post-pandemic phase. Popular countries like France, Italy, and Greece are all seeing a rise in demand — as expected — but this hidden gem, in particular, is stealing the show as one of the top destinations for sun, sand, and culture in 2023:

    Welcome To Cyprus

Aerial View Of Paramlini, A Resort Town In The Famagusta District Of Cyprus, An Island In The Eastern Mediterranean, Southern Europe

Cyprus is an island nation in the Mediterranean and the Southeasternmost member of the European Union (EU). Although it is indisputably European, its closest neighbors geographically are Turkey (the Anatolian peninsula is only 50 nautical miles north), Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt. Due to its unique status, it sits at the crossroads of Europe and Western Asia.

It is also one of the most ethnically diverse states in Europe, home to Cypriots of Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Maronite, and Latin origin. Although the ethnic Greek population forms an overwhelming majority – over 78% of the island – the cultural contributions of minority groups are evident, whether it’s the local folklore, cuisine, or customs.

As a tourist destination, Cyprus boasts a scenic Mediterranean coastline, untouched nature, and a fascinating History. From Ayia Napa, in the East, to Paphos out West, it offers a plethora of sandy beaches, heavenly turquoise-water bays, and marine parks, all interspersed with quaint fishing villages and lively urban developments.

During the health crisis, international arrivals dropped to a historical low of 663,000, a 79.57% decline from 2019. Similarly to other EU member states, the Republic of Cyprus enacted some of the strictest anti-tourism measures in their attempt to keep Covid variants from being imported, including banning entry to most non-EU nationals.

It only reopened for the wider public in 2021, though its vaccination, multiple testing, and mandatory quarantine requirements discouraged a majority of tourists from visiting. Once the virus came under control across the Union, however, Cyprus became one of the first European countries to lift all border measures as early as May 2022.

    Cyprus Is Nearing Pre-Pandemic Levels

Greek Ruins Facing The Mediterranean Sea In The Island Of Cyprus, Southern Europe

Following two years of self-imposed isolation, the move was warmly received by tourism officials, who feared the Cypriot Government’s tough stance would harm its competitivity in the Mediterranean region in the long term. Indeed, arrival figures are below 2019’s nearly a year into reopening, but they are nearing pre-pandemic levels fast.

According to the latest data published by the Statistical Service, between January and December 2022, 3,201,080 foreigners arrived in Cyprus, up from 1,936,931 tourists the year before. So far, 2019 retains the all-time record for yearly arrivals, with close to 4 million holidaymakers registered that year.

Young Woman Wearing Beach Attire And A Straw Hat Lying On The Sand As She Looks Out At A Turquoise Colored Ocean In A Tropical Location, Beach Vacation

From 2020, the year-on-year growth is rather impressive, taking into account that border curbs were only lifted in 2022 Q2 (second quarter), and the war in Ukraine led to a sharp decrease in the number of tourists from Russia and Ukraine, two of Cyprus’ most lucrative markets. To put it simply, Cyprus is totally smashing it on the post-pandemic scene.

Despite its popularity within Europe, Cyprus is still relatively unknown among Americans. They are nowhere to be seen in the top 10 nationalities visiting Cyprus every year, though the Government is investing heavily in online campaigns aimed at introducing the beautiful island to the world, reaching, on average, a billion smartphone users per year.

Why Is Cyprus Your Best Bet For A Relaxed European Summer?

More challenging to reach from the mainland U.S. than Italy or Spain due to non-existing nonstop flight options, Cyprus is largely ignored by U.S. passport holders heading to Southern Europe. For the crowd-wary traveler looking for alternatives off the beaten path, it is one of the best bets for a slow-paced, truly relaxing Mediterranean vacay.

If it’s all-inclusive packages you’re into, Protaras and Ayia Napa, on the Southeastern tip, have an extensive portfolio of luxurious beachfront resorts and villas. Looking for a lively social scene and the island’s best nightlife? Head to the coastal Limassol, the country’s second-largest city dubbed the ‘mini Dubai’. You’re a History aficionado? No problem:

Some of the top sights include Romanesque cathedrals dating back centuries, incredibly well-preserved Hellenic ruins, such as the UNESCO-protected Tombs of the Kings in Paphos, and cobblestone towns tucked away in a mountainous inland, famous for their tradition and winemaking. On top of that, Cyprus is the birthplace of Aphrodite in Greek mythology.

    North vs. South Cyprus

Traveling to Cyprus, non-European tourists are reminded the island remains divided between the internationally-recognized Republic of Cyprus, an EU member, and the breakaway, unrecognized state of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). A UN buffer zone runs along the northern third of the island and splits the Cypriot capital Nicosia in half.

Barricaded Street Along The Green Line In Nicosia, Cyprus

For tourism purposes, there are only two official entry points into the Republic of Cyprus: the airports in Larnaca (LCA) and Paphos (PFO). The third airport, Ercan (ECN), is controlled by TRNC authorities. Foreigners landing first in Ercan will be denied entry to the Republic of Cyprus when attempting to cross from North to South.

Top 8 Cheapest Spring Break Destinations That Are Close To The U.S

    Last Updated

Spring Break is fast approaching, and it is time for travelers to get organized if they plan on taking a trip this year. While anywhere different from home and traveling with friends or family is generally a good idea, some destinations offer more value than others.

Here are 8 fabulous (and warm!) spring break destinations that are affordable and easy to get to from the U.S.

The blue waters of punta cana wash ashore under palm trees at Spring break

    Punta Cana

Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic’s golden child, and for good reason. With world-class beaches and warm weather all year, Punta Cana is a great option for spring break. The city’s beaches are less developed than other popular resort areas, meaning groups of spring breakers can claim their own piece of paradise on the beach. There are also plenty of other things to do nearby, from watersports and ziplining to exploring caves and nature reserves.

an arial view of the resorts along the beach in Punta Cana

It is an easy destination to get to – close to 30 U.S. and Canadian cities have direct flights to Punta Cana. Bargain hunters can not only find cheap flights to Punta Cana, but the city’s multitude of resorts also offer spring breakers plenty of options for accommodations to suit any budget.

    Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is a fantastic destination for an enjoyable and varied spring break. The city is known for its nightlife, rich culture, and beautiful beaches close to downtown. Puerto Vallarta is generally a safe destination for tourists and has been recognized as a safe destination for the LGBTQ community.

waters and land of Puerto Vallarta Mexico are a great place to visit at Spring Break

Spring breakers on the west coast can’t go wrong with Puerto Vallarta. It is a quick 3-hour flight from Los Angeles, and flight deals can often be found for around $200. The downtown area is an easy 10-minute ride from the airport, which means tourists will have more time to party.

    Los Cabos

Los Cabos, on the tip of the Baja California Peninsula, is another inexpensive and close spring break destination, especially for anyone on the west coast. The region has two incredible resort towns that are linked with 20 miles of beachfront resorts. Cabo San Lucas is 23 miles away from the airport, and San José del Cabo is only an 8-mile transfer.

silouhettes of palm trees at sunset during spring break on the water in cabo san lucas

A quick search on google flights unearthed several options from LAX to Los Cabos for under $200 in March. And what’s even better is that it is only a quick 2.5-hour flight from Los Angeles.

    Mazatlán

Often overlooked as a spring break option, Mazatlán is actually an incredible choice. With a beautiful old town, an extensive beach promenade, and a vibrant tourist area, Mazatlán offers plenty to do at a great value. One can’t miss is Brenster’s Beach Bash, an all-you-can-drink live music party that happens every Tuesday at Diego’s Beach and Grill.

    Mazatlan crowded beach

Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, and Minneapolis all have direct flights into Mazatlán.  And while getting there can be more of a hassle for passengers needing to make a connection, the city makes up for it with lower accommodation costs.

    Cancun

Cancun is often at the top of mind when thinking of spring break destinations. The city is a well-polished tourism machine, meaning that spring breakers have plenty of options when it comes to accommodations. It is home to a huge range of resorts, beautiful beaches, epic nightlife, and plenty of nearby excursions.

    Crowded beach in Cancun

Cancun is well-connected and very convenient to get to. The airport welcomes over 500 flights each day, with over 38 U.S. cities offering direct flights. Because it is such a popular and connected destination, flights to Cancun come at a great value, as do many of the resorts.

    Playa Del Carmen

Playa Del Carmen is just 45 minutes south of Cancun. It is a great option for spring breakers looking for more of a laid-back vibe. The resort area has plenty of beautiful beaches and great nightlife. But what really makes Playa Del Carmen a great spring break destination is its access to the surrounding region. Tourists can easily explore the nearby Mayan ruins, breathtaking cenotes, and coral reefs that surround the area.

    Aereal-view-of-the-Hilton-Playa-del-Carmen

Playa Del Carmen is a great choice for anyone on the East Coast, as it is well connected via the Cancun Airport. Buses, shuttles, and rental cars are ready to whisk travelers from the airport to Playa Del Carmen. Later this year, a train will connect the two cities, making it even easier to get to.

    Montego Bay

Jamaica’s Montego Bay is known for its incredible beaches, fantastic resorts, and laid-back culture. The city provides a great mix of urban and resort life. This gives tourists a taste of the local culture without having to venture too far from their resort. Spring breakers can’t go wrong with Montego Bay – it has all the beaches, nightlife, and culture one could ask for.

People enjoy Doctor's Cave Beach in Montego Bay Jamaica on a sunny day.

21 U.S. cities currently fly direct to Montego Bay, and it is less than a 4-hour flight from most east coast cities. It is also one of the most affordable destinations to get to from the U.S. Direct flights from the east coast are typically around $200. Because the city has a well-developed tourism industry, there are plenty of amazing hotels and resorts to choose from.

    Puerto Rico

Another great option for spring break this year is beautiful Puerto Rico. There is no shortage of incredible nightlife and entertainment in Puerto Rico to keep tourists busy. With beaches and accommodations to suit every type of spring breaker, a rich and welcoming culture, and plenty of non-beach excursions, Puerto Rico is at the top of the list for many.

Puerto Rico is the best option for spring breakers who want to experience a different culture but don’t have a passport. Flights from Miami are just 2.5 hours and are often less than $200 if booked ahead of time.

Top 6 Countries With The Fastest Internet Speeds For Travelers In 2023

Which countries have the fastest internet speeds for travelers?

These are the top six countries with the fastest internet speeds, according to Nomadlist, a website that collects data from users to determine the best destinations around the world for digital nomads.

Internet is a factor that plays a big part in the viability of a destination for digital nomads, who need fast connection speeds in order to work online.

However, internet speed is something that is important for all travelers, not just those who work remotely. It can be the difference between being able to upload photos and videos of your vacation to social media and video chatting with loved ones back home or not.

Since many travelers rely on WiFi abroad rather than paying extra for international cellphone data, it’s important to have a speedy Internet connection.

Here are the countries with the fastest internet speeds around the world, according to user data from more than 4.5 million travelers.

    1. Portgual

It’s no surprise that Portugal tops this list, with an average Internet speed of 60 Mbps. Portugal has long been one of the best destinations in Europe for digital nomads because of its stunning scenery, sunny weather, affordable prices, and fast internet.

Portugal has become even more popular with travelers in the past year, who are drawn to its cities like Lisbon and Porto, its beautiful beaches, and its wine region.

    2. Norway

Next up on the list of countries with the fastest Internet speeds is Norway, with an average speed of 55 Mbps.

Norway may be one of the most expensive countries to visit in Europe, but you can rest assured that you’ll have quick WiFi speeds even while exploring the majestic fjords or chasing the Northern Lights in this Scandinavian nation.

    3. Switzerland

Switzerland is another European country with fast internet speeds. According to data from travelers, the average speed in Switzerland is 54 Mbps, so you won’t have trouble staying connected here.

Although this is another destination that is not exactly budget-friendly (in fact, it tops the list of the most expensive countries in Europe), Switzerland is still worth visiting.

During the winter, world-class skiing and snowboarding in the Swiss Alps attract many travelers. And in the summer months, stunning scenery, great hiking, and adventure activities make Switzerland a popular destination.

Even in the midst of nature in a small Alpine village, you can stay connected with Switzerland’s fast internet speeds.

    4. Lithuania

Lithuania has an average internet speed of 52 Mbps. This underrated nation is one of the Baltic countries in Eastern Europe, and it’s a fast-growing digital nomad hub.

The capital city of Vilnius is safe, beautiful, and very affordable. It attracts many entrepreneurs and start-ups and has a vibrant atmosphere. The rest of Europe is also easily accessible from Lithuania.

    5. Denmark

Another European country with fast internet speeds is Denmark, clocking in at 51 Mbps.

Although Denmark is not known for being a budget-friendly country, it’s possible to visit its capital city Copenhagen for $50 a day. Copenhagen is one of the best Scandinavian capitals, with so much to do and see.

Outside the city, Kronborg Slot (the castle from Hamlet) and the Louisiana Museum of Art are other popular places to visit in Denmark.

    6. Bulgaria

Finally on this list is Bulgaria, which has an average internet speed of 51 Mbps, making it a tie with Denmark.

This Balkan nation has become one of the top destinations for digital nomads in Europe because of its extremely affordable prices, budget-friendly ski resorts, and cool cities like Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo.

If you’re looking for a beautiful and affordable European destination with fast Internet speeds to boot, add Bulgaria to your list.

  • Top 5 Reasons Why Travelers Need To Visit Copenhagen This Year

Top 5 Reasons Why Travelers Need To Visit Copenhagen This Year

    Last Updated

Often regarded as one of the happiest countries in the world, it’s easy to see why Denmark is a long-standing favorite for travelers. While cities such as Aarhus, Aalborg, and Helsingor are going in popularity, it’s the capital city of Copenhagen that stands out for many reasons.

    copenhagen boats in canal

Copenhagen has always been a popular destination, and it’s looking like 2023 will be no exception. A recent survey named Copenhagen the safest city in the world, a fact that seems easy to believe after visiting. There is something about the laid-back, friendly nature of both the city and the residents that welcome you with a smile and a schnapps. There is a lot to be excited about in Copenhagen right now, and many reasons to visit this year.

Fun Fact: There are more bicycles than people in Copenhagen, and five times as many bikes as cars on the road!

    copenhagen bikes against a building

A small capital city, Copenhagen is a great place to spend a long weekend. Most of the things to see and do can be covered in just a few days. If you have longer than a weekend, you can easily head to other cities in Denmark, or cross the nearby border and visit the Swedish city of Malmo.

From canals to Carlsberg’s, Copenhagen has something for everyone. And don’t worry, it’s not as expensive as you think!

    1. A Culinary Destination

Foodies around the world dropped their forks in shock recently when Copenhagen’s famed NOMA restaurant announced it was to close its doors at the end of 2024. It’s been rumored to be the inspiration for the recently popular TV show, The Bear, and fans of both the show and upscale dining are lining up to get their last chance to experience it.

While getting a reservation at NOMA is unlikely, you can go into the bar and have a drink at their old location, Restaurant Barr, where each cocktail comes with a dash of history. If you can’t get into NOMA, don’t worry. Copenhagen boasts an impressive 14 Michelin Star restaurants, and those foodies who are here to try the best of the best are spoiled for choice.

    2. Architecture

Copenhagen has been named UNESCO’s World Capital of Architecture, and throughout this year, the city will be celebrating with a variety of events. From exhibitions to walking tours and festivals, those with an eye for architecture won’t want to miss checking out these festivities.

    copenhagen skyline from above

One interesting activity is Open House Worldwide, an event that lets people explore buildings that are not usually open to the public. From palaces to power plants, those who want to check out the inner workings of Copenhagens architecture will love this free event.

    3. Increased Flight Options

While Copenhagen is easily reachable by train from the rest of Scandinavia, those who are further afield will have to fly. The good news is that Copenhagen is seeing a boost in airlines adding it to their 2023 routes. Low-cost airlines now connect Copenhagen to Canada and the U.S., and it remains one of the mainstays on the European budget airlines’ schedule as well.

    4. Tivoli Gardens

Visit one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, right in the center of Copenhagen! Tivoli Gardens is not your typical theme park. It’s small, charming, and historical while at the same time offering exciting rides or a stroll around the stunning lakes and gardens.

tivoli gardens statue looking at a building

You might know that Walt Disney himself visited Tivoli Gardens many times as he was planning his first Disney park, but did you also know that Hans Christen Anderson was also inspired by Tivoli? He wrote one of his famous fairytales, Nightingale, based on his visits to the park. Tivoli Gardens is expecting a record number of visitors this year, so make sure to get your tickets early.

    5. Affordability

Being a Scandinavian capital city, Copenhagen is not a budget destination, and therefore many potential tourists head elsewhere. Actually, while not cheap by any means, Copenhagen can be surprisingly affordable if you do your research.

The metro system is quite a low-cost and efficient network, connecting you to anywhere you need to go with a 24-hour pass that costs less than $20. The train station is centrally located, and you can walk everywhere, and the airport is easily reachable by metro as well.

Copenhagen is a street food lovers’ dream, with a danish hotdog stand on every corner and alleys lined with open-front stalls selling pastries and meatballs for much less than you might expect. Beer gardens and casual canal side bars and cafes cater to a younger crowd, so prices can be quite comparable to many other mid-size European cities.

copenhagen skyline from above with church tower

    Another bonus?

There is so much to see in Copenhagen just by walking (or cycling) around that you don’t need to worry about paying entrance fees for every attraction. Walk to the little mermaid, stroll along the Famous Nyhavn Canal, and explore Freetown Christiania, all for free.

While you can stroll around on your own, there are many free walking tours to join if you prefer some guidance. Just remember, they do appreciate tips!

Travel editors at the New York Times have just released an epic list of 52 places to visit in 2023. To determine the world’s top spots, they asked the all-important question of why we travel. The chosen destinations hold the answers to that question. These worldwide destinations were chosen because they offer travelers food, culture, adventure, or natural beauty that is unique to that place and worth traveling for.

    7. Kangaroo Island, Australia

Kangaroo Island off the southern Australian coast is packed with wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and unique accommodations. This small island is home to less than 5,000 people, but it really packs a punch. It is an absolute paradise for animal lovers who want to see wildlife in their natural habitat. The island is home to kangaroos, wallabies, fur seals, koalas, dolphins, and more.

In late 2019 Southern Australia suffered horrific wildfires that destroyed so much of the region. Kangaroo Island and its wildlife reserve were decimated. As the island rebuilds, it is welcoming back visitors to partake in recovery efforts.

    6. Palm Springs, California

Palm Springs might be best known for its celebrity inhabitants, modern architecture, and hot springs, but the stunning surrounding nature is what really keeps visitors coming back year after year. Nearby Joshua Tree National Park has reignited popular interest in stargazing with its Night Sky Festival, which takes place each September.

    3. Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Arizona

Photographs simply cannot do this area justice – you must visit the park in person to truly understand the immense beauty and power of the land.

Visitors to the park can drive a 17-mile loop or hike through the valley on a 3-mile trail. Guided tours are also available to bring tourists to ancient cliff dwellings. No visit to the park is complete without a stop at the Trading Post for traditional Navajo arts and crafts.

    2. Morioka, Japan

Now that Japan has finally reopened for international tourists, it is time for the world to discover the city of Morioka. Morioka is less touristed than other Japanese cities and is only a 2.5-hour train ride north of Tokyo. Visitors who make the effort to go will be rewarded with a charming, walkable city full of fantastic food and some of the best coffee in the country. Not only is Morioka a charming and authentic spot, but it is also a great base for exploring the surrounding region and all the mountains and hot springs.

Drummers participate in a festival in Morioka Japan

Morioka is home to many rich cultural festivals. One of the largest is the Morioka Sansa Odori Festival which takes place each August. During the festival, over 10,000 drummers descend upon the city for the world’s largest taiko drum festival. The event plans to make a full return in 2023 after it was canceled or scaled back in previous years due to the pandemic.

    1. London, UK

London seems to be at the top of everyone’s travel list this year, and for good reason. The city continues to thrive despite many recent challenges. London offers so much to its visitors – a thriving and diverse food scene, efficient public transport, and 95 museums that you can visit for free.

    Last Updated

If you’ve been planning a trip to Disney World, Orlando this year, one of Disney World’s executives has just shared some of the best tips for saving money for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

For the past 15 months, Disney World has been celebrating its 50th anniversary, with many of its festivities continuing up until March 31, 2023. With less than 3 months left of its celebration plans, the attraction has announced a list of savings to entice visitors to its many resorts after the official celebrations conclude.

Disney Springs water fall Orlando Florida

2023 is still an important year for Walt Disney, as the entertainment company will be marking its 100th anniversary since being founded in 1923. The celebrations will be mainly focused at Disneyland Resort, but will eventually move to Disney World later in the year.

There are plenty of reasons to add Disney World to your 2023 destination list, from its latest attraction Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to popular favorites like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and the revived Fantasmic!

Highlights coming to Disney World in 2023 will also include Tron Lightcycle Run, one of the fastest new rides, and a new family-style barbecue restaurant called Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land.

Keep in mind that the cost to visit Disney World will vary based on which of the four parks you want to visit. Animal Kingdom is the lowest-priced park costing between $109 and $159, while Magic Kingdom is the most expensive park, costing between $124 and $189, and it’s best to reserve your tickets as soon as possible.
