Spring is fast arriving and there’s no better way to celebrate the end of a long cold winter than to plan a trip.

Spring is a great time of year to travel, particularly to Europe, thanks to the mild temperatures and low crowd levels.

But where are American tourists planning to travel this Spring?

These are the top 10 most popular destinations for Spring according to a new report:

    5. France

France is a beautiful country year-round but it really springs to life in Spring.

The whole country blossoms and there are an abundance of events and festivals to attend as part of your trip.

Eiffel Tower during spring time in Paris, France

Most people want to spend Spring in Paris, where they can enjoy the café culture and sit under cherry blossom-covered trees. If you visit in April you can enjoy the Art Paris Art Fair which features works from 130 galleries from over 20 different countries.

But it’s worth noting that the further south you go, the better the weather will be, so head to Côte d’Azur if you want to relax in the sunshine.

Luxury destinations such as Nice, Cannes, and St Tropez can never be called budget spots, but they are quieter and more affordable in Spring than in summer.

    4. Spain

Spain is such a huge and multifaceted country that there’s never a bad time to visit.

But in Spring, many of the tourist areas and attractions that closed during the winter months open again, and the country comes to life.

    Sagrada Familia cathedral in spring

If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation, then the weather is warm and toasty, and the beaches are perfect for sunbathing during the spring months. Some of the best festivals and carnivals in Spain also take place in Spring.

This includes Carnaval in Cadiz, Semana Santa, La Feria de abril in Sevilla and Las Fallas in Valencia.

One of Spain’s most popular tourist cities is Barcelona and Spring is a great time to visit thanks to the 9.5 hours a day of sunshine, the chance to relax in open-air terraces, and the low tourist numbers in the best museums and galleries.

    3. Mexico

Late Spring is considered shoulder season in Mexico, so it is a great time to visit if you’re looking for pleasant weather and fewer tourists compared to the peak winter months.

This is when you can avoid the hustle and bustle in the most popular resort areas.

    Cancun Hotel Zone

Mexico has beautiful beaches and hot temperatures in the Spring months, so it’s perfect for those hoping to relax on the shoreline and soak up some rays.

As well as being listed as the 3rd most popular destination to visit this Spring, Mexico was also found to be the 2nd most budget-friendly destination for Spring 2024 in the same report.

So, if you’re looking for sunshine on a budget, this is the ideal choice. On that note, one of the best ways to stretch your dollar further when traveling is by utilizing credit cards that are optimal for travel. Here are some of our favorites.

    2. Scotland

During the winter months, Scotland can be a cold and dreary place to be, but as spring arrives, the whole country comes alive with verdant greenery and an air of possibility.

That doesn’t mean you won’t experience an April shower or two but in general Spring is a great time to be in Scotland.

Edinburgh Skyline Seen From Calton Hill, Scotland, United Kingdom

In the Highlands, you can enjoy the blossoming flowers and the huge number of lambs populating the fields.

Or head to the biggest cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow to soak up the native culture and enjoy the museums and galleries, and there’s no better time to visit the famous Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh.

The weather in Scotland in Spring is perfect for hiking around shimmering lochs and mighty mountains.

    1. Italy

Officially the most popular destination for Spring 2024 is Italy, and it’s easy to see why.

Spring is the best time of the year to visit this iconic country, thanks to the Mediterranean climate and the quieter but still bustling cities.

Lake Braies (also known as Pragser Wildsee or Lago di Braies) in Dolomites Mountains, Sudtirol, Italy

Spring is called Primavera in Italian, and it is a season of life, joy, and renewed excitement. Tourists can take advantage of fewer crowds and lower prices than in the peak of summer.

Hikers, skiers, nature lovers, and photographers will love the dreamy fields of wildflowers in the Dolomite mountains, while luxury lovers should head to Sorrento, Capri, Positano, and Naples.

In Italy’s famous cities Spring provides a great compromise between cost, weather, and crowds.

    The Complete Top 10 List

According to a new report by insurance provider SquareMouth, this is the complete list of the top 10 travel destinations for the upcoming spring season:

Before booking that flight, it’s always a good idea to consider what your priorities are when choosing a destination.

Perhaps this trip is to be all about cultural immersion, or maybe you simply want a relaxing beach escape.

No matter what kind of travel experience you are looking for, it’s always crucial to consider safety, especially if you’re traveling solo.

Not all destinations are created equal in terms of the risks of crime or political instability.

The good news is there’s a world full of safe destinations for all kinds of travelers.

With a little research and common sense, you can stay assured your experience of a place will be positive.

It’s no secret Americans can’t get enough of Europe, and a recent report based on Global Peace Index scores from the Institute of Economics and Peace has revealed the 10 safest European cities in 2024.

For the following list, the lower the scores, the better:

    Vienna Aerial View

    Lisbon, Portugal

    Global Peace Index Score: 1.333

Perceived Criminality of Society Score: 1.694 out of 5

This sunny, colorful European capital has been the darling of the travel world as of late.

We definitely understand why pictures of Lisbon’s rainbow architecture and sweeping hilltop views have been taking over social media!

This city has everything to offer its visitors, from the classically beloved European architecture and cobblestoned streets to lively nightlife and culture.

It also never hurts that Lisbon is one European destination that won’t break your budget.

With its friendly locals and magnetic appeal to backpackers and solo travelers, Lisbon is an excellent choice for both solo travelers and those wishing to feel safe abroad.

    Vienna, Austria

    Global Peace Index Score: 1.316

Perceived Criminality of Society Score: 2.037 out of 5

Austria is much more than its iconic Alps, and Vienna is a city you won’t regret adding to your itinerary.

The country’s capital has excellent public transportation, is easy to navigate, and is extremely safe for tourists.

Vienna’s baroque architecture, imperial palaces, and gorgeous gardens will leave you feeling you’re in a storybook.

Culturally, Vienna is renowned as the birthplace of classical music, and catching a performance at one of the city’s grand music venues makes a memorable experience.

    Dublin, Ireland

    Global Peace Index Score: 1.312

Perceived Criminality of Society Score:  2.376 out of 5

Perceived Criminality of Society Score: 1.542 out of 5

It is most definitely worth venturing north to check out this charming Scandinavian capital!

As well as being one of the safest cities in the world, Copenhagen is known for being one of the most bike-friendly cities anywhere.

One of my favorite memories from my own European adventure was feeling the wind against me as I rode along the colorful streets of this city.

Bicycles are the city’s favorite form of transportation, and once you master the art of bike traffic, you’ll be riding all over the city in search of the best smørrebrød–the favorite open-faced sandwich of the Danes.

This gorgeous city delights its visitors with its 19th-century theme park, Tivoli Gardens, lavash palaces, and adorable wharf houses and canals.

Copenhagen Red Boat and Colorful Canal

    Reykjavik

Iceland consistently tops the charts for being among the safest countries in the world and its capital has claimed the title of safest city in Europe.

Visiting the Nordic country is the adventure of a lifetime, and Reykjavik is the perfect first stop.

The city offers plenty of interesting attractions, including Hallgrimskirkja Church, as well as being the perfect base for nature-centered excursions.

In addition to the city’s timeless draw and awe-inspiring nature, 2024 is an excellent year to go due to increased solar activity that will make for peak northern lights viewing.

Rounding out the top 10 safest cities in Europe are:

    • Ljubljana, (Slovenia)
    • Bern, (Switzerland)

Home to world-renowned cities like Madrid and Barcelona, blessed with year-round warmer weather and boasting endless miles of coastline, it’s no wonder Spain is one of the top destinations for Americans flying across the pond.

The entire country is a hotspot for tourism, from the culturally-charged north-westernmost provinces to the resort-dominated Costa del Sol, but one island in particular seems to be fueling tourism growth the most (and stealing the hearts of visiting Americans).

Aerial View Of Old Town Palma de Mallorca With The Gothic Cathedral And Mediterranean Sea Pictured, Palma, Spain

How does eating heladitos as you walk down a palm-lined boardwalk, swimming in turquoise waters, and exploring postcard-ready medieval towns sound for a vacation?

Mallorca Is A Major Force Behind Spain’s Tourism Boom

According to Spain’s AIReF, the entity responsible for GDP-related stats, the Balearic island of Mallorca is a huge contributor to Spain’s tourism rebound, with the local economy (mostly tourism-based) having grown 3.2% in 2023, above the national average of 2%.

In total, it hosted 11.6 million tourists last year, a growing number of which are Americans, who have enjoyed nonstop flights to the paradisaical island since 2022; this year, it could break all-time records, as flight frequency from key markets increases and demand soars.

Racing for the number one spot in Spain, it challenges Malaga and nearby Marbella, voted a top destination this year, the tropical Canary Islands, Barcelona, famous for its Gaudí heritage and soon-to-be-finished Sagrada Familia Basilica.

La Seu, the gothic medieval cathedral of Palma de Mallorca in Spain

Still, with so many destinations in Spain to choose from, you may be wondering why it’s Mallorca where they’re headed.

    What Makes Mallorca So Special?

The largest island of a Mediterranean archipelago known as the Balearics, and the seventh-largest in this sea, Mallorca has been inhabited since at least the 3rd millennium BC, and though it is primarily a leisure destination in the modern age, it is a cultural site of the first order.

    A Beautiful Ancient Capital
Woman taking a selfie in Mallorca

Its beautiful, compact capital of Palma de Mallorca concentrates a number of historical landmarks, from a fortified cathedral, to Bellver (one of Europe’s last-surviving circular castles), to the monumental Royal Palace of La Almudaina, to the UNESCO-listed, Gothic Silk Exchange.

Similarly to other settlements in Palma, the cityscape is ochre-hued, giving it an enticing ancient flair, and there are several Mallorcan restaurants and traditional tapa bars serving cheap tintos and flavorful tidbits to satisfy the food connoisseur in you.

    Magaluf Is The European Cancun
Mallorca Spain Coastline, Balearics, Southern Europe

Palma’s true charm, however, lies in its unique combination of European, Old World charm and modern resort strips: a short 23-minute drive from the capital, straddling a section of the Bay of Palma where the sea is crystal-clear, Magaluf is where you’ll find your perfect all-inclusive stay.

Nestled in a Caribbean-style development zone, with tourist-friendly facilities and hotel complexes distributed along a sandy coast, it is where Germans and Brits flock into for their sunny getaways irrespective of season; it is, as we like to call it, the European Cancun.

The overnight average at Magaluf Beach resorts is only $123 ahead of the peak season, top Expedia picks including Hotel Spa Flamboyan Caribe, Leonardo Royal Hotel Mallorca, and the VIP, adults-only Ibero Star Selection Jardín del Sol Suites, at an entry-level rate of $314.

Man Lounging At Resort Pool In A Tropical Setting
    Scenic Coastal Scenes

Magaluf may be Mallorca’s ‘Cancun’, but you should bear in mind there is a whole island to be discovered, from highly-developed beach zones to unspoiled fishing villages with origins lost to time, not to mention a verdant, hilly hinterland dotted with charming historic towns.

Encompassing Palma’s tallest peak and unique geological formations, the Tramuntana Range is a sustainable tourism center rich in biodiversity, while the northwestern edge of the island is best known for its scenic coastal drives and charming port towns.

Village Of Polenca In Mallorca, A Balearic Island Of Spain In The Mediterranean Sea, Southern Europe

No visit to Mallorca is complete without Port de Sóller, popular for its historic tramway and imposing Romanesque-Gothic church, the stone-built settlements of Deià, Fornalutx, and Valldemossa, with their narrow streets and terracotta roofs, or the medieval Port of Pollença (and all its pristine calas).

Mallorca Is An Affordable European Getaway

When it comes to prices, Mallorca is incredibly affordable by Mediterranean standards, as a one-week stay will set you back by $1,045 per person, including accommodation, meals and transportation between different municipalities.

Heritage Tram In Soller, A Small Town In The Spanish Island Of Mallorca, Balearics, Mediterranean Europe

Most of the food served in restaurants is locally-sourced, and thanks to Palma’s fertile terrain and balmy climate, there is an abundance of tropical fruit and vegetables and freshly-caught seafood in markets; the cost of living outside resort towns is pretty low, too.

On average, restaurant menus in Palma are half the price of New York’s, with prices for inexpensive meals in local eateries set at $14, and more elaborate, three-course dinners for two people in mid-range spots costing $53.87, or the equivalent in euros.

Nonstop U.S. Flights Returning This Year

    Mallorca Beach, Spain

Furthermore, there will be an increase in capacity for United’s New York-Palma flights this year, proving demand keeps growing among Americans: starting May 25, the carrier will operate a 240-seat Boeing 767-400 ER on this route, 26 more than last year’s.

In the wake of United’s success, American Airlines is also planning on operating this Transatlantic route at some point this year, with flights from Miami to Palma expected to be announced soon, though at the time of writing, no further details have been unveiled.

With nonstop flights returning, and as many as three weekly flights scheduled, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from late May through September 25, not to mention a frequency increase for intra-Europe low-cost flights, we expect Palma to become one of the top destinations in 2024.

Thanks to its low consumer prices, vibrant culture, and sunny climate, Latin America has arguably become the leading destination for budget-conscious tourists, particularly Americans looking to escape the gloomy Northern Hemisphere winter.

From Mexico down to Brazil, these sunny spots are stealing the limelight and posting record arrival figures.

Still, there is one much smaller Latin gem that often gets forgotten but that has just recently been crowned one of the best travel destinations this year by CNN.

Colonial Square In Panama City, Panama, Central America

If you’re looking for a unique destination that is yet to be saturated in the media and where prices aren’t absurd, Panama is where you should be headed:

A Tiny Country With An Impressive Diversity In Nature

A transcontinental country sitting at the exact divide between North and Central America, at the Southernmost tip of the Central American isthmus, Panama is a small country boasting access to both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts and an impressive abundance of nature.

Aerial View from Panama City in Panama.View to Casco Viejo and Panama Canal

Traversed by hiking trails, bounded by azure waters, and with over 60% of the national territory being covered by a dense jungle, it is primarily a natural world destination, meaning it tends to attract tourists who are adverse to big cities and who are actively seeking adventure.

As the CNN writer notes, Panama has countless national parks, including Volcán Barú, home to the highest peak in the country, La Amistad, dotted with majestic waterfalls, and Coiba, a UNESCO-protected island 12 miles off the mainland offering marine life sanctuary.

    panama city skyline

Other than its vast open spaces, Panama is famous for its ingenious self-titled canal, a man-built waterway that cuts across the American landmass to allow for the passage of ships between the Atlantic and the Pacific and an unparalleled feat of engineering.

Of course, there is Panamanian culture.

    A Fascinating Cultural Tapestry

Beautiful Caribbean houses over the water in Bocas del Toro, Panama

Though the land was mostly forest and inhabited by native Americans originally, Spanish settlers who arrived in the 16th century would permanently alter the landscape and demographics through their introduction of urbanization and Western civilization.

At the apex of Transatlantic Spain, the constant migration influx transformed Panama into one of the most ethnically diverse territories on this side of the Atlantic, having hosted not only Spaniards but also other Europeans and, of course, enslaved Africans throughout its nation-building.

Old Historical Monument In Panama, Central America

It may have moved forward from the horrors of colonization, but modern-day Panama has stayed true to its multicultural character.

The cuisine has elements of both the Iberian (Spanish) and Native American diet, and its historical cities are reflective of the fading grandeur of an extinct empire, and that’s only one facet of it.

According to CNN, Panama City is a ‘vibrant capital’ with a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the city center, distinguished for its colonial architecture and Baroque churches.

Despite being a sprawling urban center, it is the only national capital to border a tropical rainforest.

    Panama City Skyline

That is not incidental: it’s proof that, in spite of humankind’s best efforts, nature can’t be beat, at least not in verdant Panama.

One thing CNN does not make mention of is how shockingly affordable Panama is for American visitors.

Panama Is Very Cheap For American Tourists

Based on data available on Budget Your Trip, a one-week trip to Panama costs only $548, on average, for one person, including accommodation, food, and local transportation.

That is approximately $78.28 per day, against Costa Rica’s average daily costs of $115.

View OF A Footbridge In Boquete, Tropical Jungle In Panama, Central America

On Airbnb, you can find rooms in Boquete Garden Inn, one of the top-rated properties in the small town of Boquete, in the heart of the jungle, for only $159.86 per night, or conveniently-located guesthouses like Buena Vista Boquete for as cheap as $56.92.

In Panama City, the capital city, restaurant owners will run you between $7 and $10 per person, and even fine dining won’t weigh heavy on your wallet, with main courses at some of the most traditional eateries costing $25.

Tourism in Panama is growing, and taking into account its thriving nature, fascinating culture, and high affordability, we can’t say we’re surprised.

These Are The Top 7 International Destinations For Spring Break According To New Report

When spring arrives, it can feel like a world of travel opportunities is opening up in front of you.

Faced with a huge amount of choice as the northern hemisphere begins to warm up, where should you look for inspiration? We might have something to help.

As part of its annual Spring Break Travel Outlook report, major booking platform Expedia has revealed which international destinations are the most popular based on flight searches by its users.

View of Paris in the spring with eiffel tower in the background

The full list features a few of the usual suspects in North America but also a surprise destination or two from Europe and Asia.

Here’s where people are hungry to travel to this spring:

    7. Barcelona, Spain

Nestled in the most visited region in all of Spain, Barcelona is a city with few equals around Europe.

Spring is one of the best times to visit Barcelona as the costs will be lower, and you’ll also avoid the infamous overcrowding that has been blighting the city in recent summers.

March also plays host to the Barcelona Beer Festival (22-24) and the Sant Medir Festival (3 March) where floats will parade along the streets and free candy is handed out.

view of the place de espana and venetian towers in barcelona spain

    6. Rome, Italy

Rome is a beautiful and fascinating city that requires a lot of walking if you want to see everything.

This is why spring is a great time to visit, with average temperatures usually sitting around 55F in March and April, so you won’t melt while trying to take it all in.

Compared to a summer average of 80F, it is much more pleasant to see outdoor attractions such as the Roman Forum and Colosseum.

view of the colosseum in rome from a high vantage point at sunset

    5. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Ever popular with American travelers, Punta Cana is an ideal spring hideout.

With warm and sunny Caribbean weather, stunningly clean and beautiful beaches, and a host of excellent all-inclusive hotels, it’s easy to see why.

Each year it seems there are more reasons to consider visiting Punta Cana, such as a planned new train route linking it with Santo Domingo, and several new resorts scheduled to be opened over the coming months.

    4. Paris, France

Ahh, Paris in the spring. Does it get any more romantic?

Well, maybe. But Paris is still a wonderful place to head to during the upcoming season.

This year, in particular, it may save you money to visit in spring before the inevitable hotel price hike this summer when the Olympic Games comes to town.

The city really comes to life during March and April, with many of its major sights enhanced by the blooming of pretty blossoms and other flowers.

And with more non-stop flights from the U.S. being added all the time, this is your sign to consider Paris.

view of the paris skyline with pink blossom in the foreground france

    3. London, United Kingdom

If London has been on your bucket list for a while now, then spring is a great time to tick it off.

The capital city of the United Kingdom always ranks among the world’s most visited cities thanks to its huge array of attractions and events – both of which step things up a few gears in spring.

London hosts excellent St Patrick’s Day celebrations on March 17, while the Spring Festival of Light theme park (through May 8) is a family-friendly attraction near Brent Cross Shopping Center.

    2. Tokyo, Japan

The curveball in this list is the Japanese megacity that seems to be at the top of everyone’s bucket list.

Tripadvisor recently listed Tokyo as one of the top trending destinations in 2024 for good reason: people just can’t seem to get enough of the idea of Japan.

Spring is the ideal time to visit as you may get a chance to see the famous Sakura cherry blossom, which occurs from late March into early April.

Head to one of Tokyo’s many gardens or temple complexes to see it in full bloom.

    1. Cancun, Mexico

What more can you say about Cancun?

It’s one of the world’s most popular beach destinations for so many reasons – and that list just keeps on growing.

Being within a stone’s throw of some of the best beaches in the world, having the benefit of an ever-growing range of all-inclusive resorts to choose from, and an ease of travel that is being enhanced with more flights and the introduction of the Maya Train – how can any self-respecting traveler resist?

Florida is always among the top destinations for a fun, sunny escape.

As winter temperatures drop by the day, perhaps more than ever Florida is on travelers’ minds.

But let’s be real – Florida is an awesome getaway no matter the season. In fact, some would argue there is too much sun at certain times of the year.

This Florida City Will Be One Of The Top Destinations In The U.S. For 2024

That’s what beach days are for, right? However, there is one major Florida city known for its fun year-round attractions and no beach within 60 miles.

This city is consistently one of the most visited in the U.S., and those in the know are predicting it will only become more popular in 2024.

    Orlando Is Booming

Along with Miami, Orlando is a top 5 destination in the U.S. in terms of popularity right now, and with good reason.

    disney world entrance

Orlando is nonstop fun and not just for grown-ups. This city is a safe space for the entire family or the perfect excuse to act like a kid again.

The “fountain of youth” may not be real, but imaginations can run wild in a judgment-free zone in the city’s number one world-famous attraction.

We’re talking Disney World, of course. Some would say Disney World is more of a household name than the city itself.

But the heartbeat of Orlando that brings in hordes of tourists is no doubt the world’s top amusement park, plus a handful of others.

What’s New At Orlando’s Theme Parks?

Disney World is the most notable destination for countless hours of thrills, but many love visiting the Universal Orlando Resort too.

Both parks are constantly adding new experiences, so it’s not the same-ol’ same-ol’ each year. Do you know how hard it is to keep kids entertained?!

Whether the whole crew is paying a visit or not, Orlando’s theme parks are fun for all ages.

For 2024, there are three new adventures to check out at Disney World:

    • The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure
    • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
    • Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana (already opened, but new to most visitors)
volcano themed swimming pool universal orlando

For Universal Orlando, 2023 was a year of many debuts, including the crowd favorite Minion Land. This year, park guests can experience Dreamworks Land with popular characters brought to life from hit films, Trolls, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda.

If these parks don’t tickle your fancy, SeaWorld Orlando and Legoland Florida have fun new additions, too, and may have fewer crowds, comparatively speaking.

    New Luxury Stays

No matter your reason for visiting Orlando, not everyone desires Mickey Mouse decor in their hotel room.

Away from the magic of Disney are four new luxury hotels welcoming guests in 2024. On Lake Nona, there will be the new Aloft Orlando Lake Nona opening doors this month.

    woman in luxury hotel room

Additionally, there are a pair of new resorts tourists can stay at – Villatel Orlando Resort and the Evermore Orlando Resort.

Villatel comes with the caveat of a soft opening in 2024, with full completion expected in 2025. While the Evermore is a gargantuan property with a man-made lagoon neighboring another new lavish hotel – the Conrad Orlando.

Some Orlando hotels received cushy upgrades, too, with the most noticeable being the 5-star Waldorf Astoria Orlando, with an overhaul of select rooms and culinary offerings.

    Affordable And Sunny

Even with lavish places to stay, Orlando is where fun-filled days meet affordability. It’s not only Americans flocking to Florida; Orlando has seen a surge in international arrivals too.

It is one of the most well-connected U.S. destinations. Travelers come from all over the map, knowing they can stay on a budget, all while enjoying the great weather.

There’s even a new train to reach Orlando from Miami for a Florida-packed itinerary.

Pack your sunscreen for theme parks, the Everglades National Park, or even beautiful Cocoa Beach, just an hour from downtown Orlando.

Wherever you go, this city has you covered on the extreme summer days too with interesting museums, immersive art like the soon-to-open AREA15, and educational experiences, such as the Kennedy Space Center.

After claiming the crown as one of the world’s most visited countries in 2023, it looks like nothing can stand in France’s way to repeat that feat this year

This romantic and iconic nation holds particular favor with American travelers, as shown in a recent study by luxury tour operator Scott Dunn.

It revealed that 34% of Americans are planning to travel to France in 2024 and that there has been a significant surge in interest and bookings for the country already.

So, where are the most popular places to head in the world’s trendiest country for 2024?

I’m sure you can guess one of them, but here’s the full top 5 to get you in the mood for some ‘Je ne sais quoi’

    5. The French Riviera

This is the place to go for those who love the finer things in life.

The Côte d’Azur is a scenic stretch of beautiful coastline that’s the home of French cinema with gorgeous towns such as Cannes and St. Tropez among its jewels.

It’s one of the most cultural destinations you can visit in France, with many longstanding festivals and traditions throughout the year.

One such example can be found in Menton from February 17 to March 3, where a celebration of citrus fruits takes place in the shape of the Fete du Citron. This year will be its 90th anniversary.

    4. Nice

If you want to get specific about great destinations in the French Riviera, look no further than the capital of the region, Nice.

Close to the border with Italy, this Mediterranean gem is a stunning place to enjoy a day of sun, sightseeing, and evening soirees.

The Cours Saleya market is not to be missed, while the Colline du Chateau affords exceptional views over the old town and the port – it’s a great sunset spot.

    3. The Alps

One of Europe’s premier skiing destinations, the French Alps attracts winter sports fans in their droves each year.

But it’s also a fantastic place to visit in the summer, with exceptional hiking, fishing, and cute mountain towns that just make you want to stay forever.

If you visit in early July, you will get to see some of the toughest men on the planet battle their way through the mountains as part of the world-famous Tour de France cycling race.

    2. Normandy

This coastal region of northern France is a cultural icon.

From the famous Mont-Saint-Michel to the beautiful brickwork of its rural villages, which are famous for cider production – this region is like its own mini culture within a culture.

It’s also the birthplace of impressionism, and 2024 will be the 150th anniversary of the art style.

A special Normandy Impressionist Festival will be running all summer long to celebrate the work and influence of the likes of Edouard Manet and more.

2024 will also be a great year to visit Normandy if you’re a history buff.

It’s the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Normandy in the Second World War and a host of events will be taking place between 1-16 June to commemorate it.

    1. Paris

It had to be, didn’t it? It should surprise no one that 77% of those surveyed in this report said that Paris was in their French travel plans, and why not?

The ‘City of Light’ has more than enough to offer to fill a week or two for even the most experienced traveler – world-class museums, an unrivaled café culture, incredible architecture – it’s hard to know where to start.

    Paris Champs Elysees Sunset

Despite all this, many travelers still have a love-hate relationship with Paris, and this year might not help, as prices are expected to soar during the Olympics, which is hosted in the city from July 26 to August 11.

And If None Of Those Take Your Fancy?

This survey also threw up a few popular destinations that just missed out on the top 5 but are well worth considering if you’re planning on taking a trip to France.

They include the cultural seaside metropolis of Marseille, the historic wine region capital of Bordeaux, and the region where the world’s favorite bubbles come from: Champagne.

These Are The Top 7 U.S. Destinations For Spring Break According To Expedia

Dreaming of where your spring break vacation might take you? Us too…

If you’re struggling to narrow down where you want to get your dose of sun and good times, then a new study may have the inspiration you seek.

Travel booking giant Expedia has examined flight search data from its users for the period between March 5 and April 26 to determine which domestic destinations will be most popular for this year’s spring break – and the results are fascinating.

    View of South Beach Miami

The list is a comprehensive one that covers all the bases for each kind of spring break vacationer – here’s the top 7:

    7. Fort Lauderdale, Florida

quieter and slightly less expensive destination than nearby Miami, Fort Lauderdale is becoming an incredibly popular pick for spring break travelers.

With a 24-mile stretch of beautiful beaches and fantastic restaurants that specialize in seafood and Latin-influenced cuisine, Fort Lauderdale has all the ingredients for a great spring break.

If you’re looking to keep spending down, many of its attractions are free such as Anne Kolb Nature Center, Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop flea market, and concerts at Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.

    6. Phoenix, Arizona

record number of people flew through Phoenix’s Harbor International Airport last year, showcasing that it’s a firm favorite among travelers.

The weather in Phoenix in spring is ideal, with March temperatures usually averaging around 75F and very low levels of rainfall.

There are plenty of great events to help you enjoy a party atmosphere, such as M3F Festival (March 1-2) and Innings Festival (February 23-24) – both of which feature live music and amusements.

    5. New York, New York

The ‘Big Apple’ will always be one of the most popular domestic destinations at any time of year.

That was proven in 2023 when a record number of travelers flew through the three major airports that serve NYC.

Away from its unrivaled selection of incredible restaurants covering the entire price scale, New York has several chilled things you can enjoy during spring such as a walk along the High Line, which will be bursting with floral color.

    4. Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles has the perfect spring break combination of amazing nightclubs and bars to dance the night away, as well as golden sandy beaches to slowly bring yourself back to life under the warm sun the next day.

There’s almost no end to the excellent hotels you can choose to stay at in Los Angeles as well as some unique spots to take in the views over the city while you enjoy a cocktail such as 71Above and Perch LA.

In between parties, Los Angeles offers the opportunity to tour its famous movie studios and even has many miles of hiking trails throughout the city to help you walk off the hangover.

    3. Miami, Florida

For great food, culture, and nightlife, American cities don’t come much better equipped than Miami.

This beloved Floridian destination has been breaking all kinds of records for tourism over the last year, and it looks set to remain popular as we move into this spring.

However, one thing to be aware of with Miami this year is that local authorities have been talking about introducing curfews for spring break this year between midnight and 6am in popular locations such as South Beach.

This is due to some issues the city experienced last year with unruly revelers and crime.

    2. Las Vegas, Nevada

Fresh from breaking a tourism record in 2023 and then hosting the Super Bowl this February, it seems that Las Vegas is an even more exciting place to visit than usual right now.

And with more affordable flights than ever heading into ‘Sin City’ combined with accommodation prices that seem to have stayed a little lower compared to many other major American destinations, it makes an ideal place to enjoy thawing out after winter.

    1. Orlando, Florida

There really is something for all the family in Orlando.

From the theme parks to some truly world-class dining and nightlife, this city seems like it was ready-made for a spring vacation.

There’s so much more to Orlando than just Disney World, including the opportunity to grab a bargain at an outlet mall, get up close with nature in one of the many nearby parks and nature reserves, or just chill by the pool in one of its fabulous hotels.

As the common saying goes, there are only two guarantees in life – death and taxes. Traveling the world can be a blast, but it can also be a big letdown.

Perhaps you take a trip to Alaska, Iceland, or Canada in hopes of seeing the mesmerizing Northern Lights but come up empty-handed.

Not every place is always as it appears, and it becomes even more unpredictable with natural phenomena.

These Are The Top National Parks For Your Chance To See The Spring Superbloom

Let’s be real – how often is the weather report wrong? A lot! When it comes to gorgeous wildflower superblooms, very specific conditions have to be met.

California is one of the most reliable states in terms of giving visitors these out-of-this-world colorful photo ops, but stretches throughout the Southwest as well.

We have buzzed with the bees, Rain Danced for the gods, and stuck our fingers to the wind to compile our best guesswork of giving travelers their best shot to witness one of the most scenic natural sights at U.S. National Parks.

    Lassen Volcanic National Park

pink flowers blooming Lassen Volcanic National Park

California may make headlines for all the wrong reasons but she sure is a beaut! Home to stunning National Parks, some more popular than others, you can’t go wrong immersing yourself in nature in this state.

Not a household name, Lassen Volcanic Park in Northern California is among your best bets to witness a superbloom.

Known for spectacular wildflowers, visitors tend to see them bloom in the summer months. However, California has been receiving more rainfall and may start to see vibrant fields and hills full of blue lupines, orange and yellow monkey flowers, and of course, the California poppy.

    Channels Island National Park

flowers blooming channels island national park

Those ready for an adventure should look no further than Channel Islands National Park off the California coast between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.

These standalone islands may not be a household name either, but you’ll be telling all your friends about it should you time your visit right to witness a superbloom.

Home to amazing landscapes incomparable to any other park on this list, even if you do miss the ‘bloom you won’t be that upset.

This park consists of 5 separate islands, all home to wildflowers consisting of seaside daisies and beach primroses blooming through winter and spring.

    Big Bend National Park

field of bluebonnets in big bend national park

Let’s give California a breather for a minute and go deep, deep, deep into Texas away from all the major cities.

Big Bend National Park is tucked away in West Texas near the border of Mexico and has been trending on social media due to its beautiful scenery for selfie-takers.

Despite its remote location, it’s one of the best places to see the state flower explode in color – the pretty Lupinus subcarnosus, otherwise simply known as bluebonnets.

While it’s all but guaranteed to see these blue beauties lining desolate West Texas highways, bluebonnets transform hillsides into an otherworldly blue hue through the end of March in the right conditions.

blooming pink flowers in big bend

Many species of wildflowers thrive in the park, giving the usual green landscape a new light of color.

    Pinnacles National Park

An hour and a half south of San Jose, California lies a phenomenal National Park with wondrous sites perfect for wildlife spotting, cave exploring, and rock climbing.

Wandering this vast park will make you feel as if you’re on another planet with its wild landscape of gnarly rock formations.

Wildflower season only adds to the allure with its already stunning scenery. Here, however, outdoor lovers can experience the rare Yellow mariposa lily and California jewelflower in addition to more common colorful wildflowers like lupines, poppies, and monkey flowers.

    Joshua Tree National Park

This quirky side of California isn’t just upscale desert towns and world-famous music festivals. Joshua Tree National Park, just outside of Palm Springs, is one of the best gambles to witness a superbloom.

Commonly a Spring destination given the great weather, eye-popping flower blooms are just another excuse to visit.

Named after the odd-looking Joshua trees, nature lovers have found the right place with endless sights for photo-ops given the additional 250 species of wildflowers to see, including the California poppy.

Flowers tend to bloom in early spring in lower elevations, rising to higher elevations into the summer months.
