The good news is that you don’t need to leave the U.S. to visit a trending hotspot and enjoy the trip of a lifetime.

Airbnb has revealed its summer travel trends, including a comprehensive list of the U.S. destinations that are currently surging in popularity.

Some of these trending hot spots were to be expected, while others have come as a big surprise!

Here are the top 10:
1. Santa Rose Beach, Florida
2. Rosemary Beach, Florida
3. Saint Paul, Minnesota
4. Broken Bow, Oklahoma
5. Eugene, Oregon
5. Ouray, Colorado

Ouray has been named as the Outdoor recreation capitol of Colorado and the rugged mountain peaks that surround the town often mean that it is called ‘Little Switzerland’.

This is the perfect place to enjoy a European-style vacation without leaving the U.S.

If you love spending time in the great outdoors then there are few better places to be.

Hiking is popular here as is kayaking and exploring the creeks that flow down through valleys and canyons into the city.

If you’d prefer a more relaxing vacation, then Ouray is also famed for its hot springs.

These geothermal heated mineral pools range in temperate from 75 – 104 degrees F (23 – 40 C) meaning that they can be comfortably enjoyed year-round, and are an experience that attracts visitors from across the U.S.

4. Glendale, Arizona

Glendale is renowned for its incredible array of hiking trails, its historic attractions, and its state-of-the-art sporting facilities.

It’s considered an affordable destination to visit while still being cram-packed with entertainment.

See a concert at the Desert Diamond Arena, enjoy the natural preserves of Thunderbird Conservation Park, or head to the Westgate Entertainment District, the biggest entertainment area in Arizona.

With so much to see and do, it’s no wonder that this destination is trending right now.

3. Las Vegas, Nevada

Viva, Las Vegas! Already one of the premier vacation destinations in the U.S. Las Vegas is trending for this summer.

This should come as no surprise as summer is consistently the most popular time to visit Vegas thanks to its dry, hot, heat and abundant activities. And we’re not just talking about the casinos.

There are more families in town at this time of year, which explains the larger visitor numbers, but despite this, accommodation tends to be cheaper in Vegas in the summer months. You’re sure to find somewhere to stay that suits your budget.

According to Airbnb, traveling for huge sporting events is a key trend this summer. One reason Las Vegas is trending is that travelers are looking for properties near America’s Soccer Tournament.

This is another factor in the popularity of Glendale, Arizona, too.

2. Columbia, South Carolina

Columbia is the capital city of South Carolina, and the 2nd largest city in the state. There’s so much to see and do here.

One of America’s best zoos, the Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens, is located in Columbia, not to mention a huge number of museums and monuments.

The downtown area of the city has recently been revitalized, but there is still an abundance of historic sites for history buffs. These include the Robert Mills House and Gardens, the Mann-Simons site, and the Hampton-Preston Mansion and Gardens.

Columbia is also one of the more affordable state capitals for U.S. travelers, which explains why the destination is trending so highly right now.

1. Quincy, Washington

The fastest-trending destination in the U.S. right now is Quincy, Washington.

Chosen as one of the best small towns in Washington State, Quincy is a must-visit destination for outdoor adventurers.

During the summer months boating, water skiing, hunting, and fishing are all popular pastimes here.

Quincy is also home to the Gorge Ampitheater which is considered one of the most scenic concert locations in the world, making it a huge attraction for tourists, particularly during the summer months.

Many will plan their vacation time around the concert they want to see at the Gorge Amphitheater, with upcoming concerts including the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Blink 182, and Dave Matthews. The Gorge Amphitheater attracts big names.

This tracks with Airbnb’s findings that travelers are seeking experiential stays right now. They want to incorporate once-in-a-lifetime experiences, such as concerts in incredible venues, into their trip.

This charming Michigan gem is actually the closest you’ll get to a more typical summer vacation today.

OK, so I’m not really a fan of the “destination dupe” trend going around right now since every place has its unique charm and character, but Pittsburgh truly is kind of like a smaller, cheaper, safer San Francisco, so if that’s a city you’ve wanted to visit for a while now, considering Pittsburgh instead might work in your favor.

The Pennsylvanian hub boasts the same “hilly tech town” vibe and forward-thinking industries that make San Francisco so fascinating.

If that sounds like something you want to experience in the near future, your decision-making process just got a whole lot easier!

Washington, D.C. might not be the first place you think of when it comes to amazing travel destinations in the U.S., but you shouldn’t overlook the nation’s capital for a great solo trip.

D.C. has been exploding in popularity as a tourist destination lately, with a record number of visitor arrivals in 2023.

There are tons of amazing things to do in the city, and it’s a surprisingly excellent destination for solo travelers too.

I’ve spent a lot of time exploring D.C. on my own, and these are the top reasons I think it’s the perfect place to go as a solo traveler:

Lots Of Solo-Friendly Activities

One of the biggest reasons you should visit D.C. as a solo traveler is because of the abundance of solo-friendly activities and unique things to do around the city.

There are tons of museums and monuments around every corner, and as a solo traveler, you can pick and choose what you’re interested in. With over 70 museums around the city, you can spend several days checking out impressive collections.

Along the National Mall, you’ll find some of the best museums, including the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Air and Space Museum.

Checking out the city’s many monuments and memorials, including the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the World War II Memorial, is another must while in D.C.

You can even take a free tour of the White House, which was the coolest thing I did in D.C. — it just requires arranging it in advance (you can make a request 21 days to 3 months in advance, and it’s best to have some flexibility in the preferred dates and times of your visit.)

Easy To Get Around

Another reason I’d recommend D.C. for a solo trip is because it’s really easy to get around on your own. You don’t need a car, because it’s a very walkable city that also has good public transportation.

All of the museums and monuments mentioned above are walkable from each other.

If you want to give your feet a rest, you can also take D.C.’s Metro, which is well-connected and a quick way to get around the city.

It’s Very Safe

If you’re traveling on your own, especially as a solo female traveler, safety is probably a factor you take into consideration when choosing where to go.

D.C. is an extremely safe city, so you don’t have anything to worry about traveling here solo.

Obviously, you should always take safety precautions when traveling solo, but in general, D.C. is a very safe and secure place to visit.

Lots Of Different Neighborhoods

Washington, D.C. has a lot more to offer than just government buildings, museums, and monuments. Many of the top tourist attractions in D.C. are located in Downtown, which is why I’d recommend staying there as a first-time visitor.

Another great neighborhood to stay in is Georgetown. This historic neighborhood is a little further away from Downtown, but it’s incredibly picturesque and walkable.

While in D.C., you should also make sure to visit Chinatown and Dupont Circle, two other cool and lively neighborhoods.

Easy To Get To From Other Cities

Finally, D.C. is perfect for a solo trip because it’s easy to get to from other places in the U.S. More than 60 cities across the U.S. have regular nonstop flights to D.C.

There’s also a direct Metro line from the Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Downtown for just $6.

And if you’re already on the East Coast, you can take Amtrak to D.C. easily. The high-speed Acela train connects Boston, New York, and Philadelphia with D.C., while other Amtrak train lines connect Southern cities along the East Coast to D.C.

You can gamble, live the high life at luxurious resorts, and spend countless hours enjoying breathtaking scenery, and this is just scratching the surface!

As winter has dragged on, it’s time to turn the page to spring and beyond and make travel plans with plenty to do for all ages.

Here are 5 reasons why you should visit the Ozarks in 2024:

Better In Real Life

Missouri is known for cheering on their Redbirds, but it’s another ‘Byrde’ more recognizable in the Ozarks.

That would be fictional character, Marty Byrde and his family, on the mega-popular Netflix show Ozark.

The show wrapped up with the season finale in 2022 and didn’t exactly paint this region of the U.S. in the best light as a run-down, trailer-park-filled, crime-ridden community of degenerates.

The real-life Ozarks is quite different in the best of ways. If there is one line from the show that may entice you to give it a fair shake, it’s Marty Byrde’s selling point saying, “This place right here has more shoreline than the whole coast of California.”

Although fictitious, this line is a straight up fact. The Ozarks’ gorgeous shoreline stretches approximately 1,100 miles and is far more than what the hit tv show depicted, especially since it wasn’t even filmed here.

So Many Stunning Sights

The Ozarks are largely seen as Missouri’s treasure, but this vast region crosses three more state borders – Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

The region’s namesake, Lake of the Ozarks, is perhaps the most common, but many would say Table Rock Lake is the most photo-worthy and a must when visiting the area.

Visitors can partake in a variety of water activities, with boating, fishing, and swimming being among the most popular.

There are delightful beaches, horseback riding, and lantern-guided tours to explore the area’s wondrous caves.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park is the largest in Missouri, while Ha Ha Tonka State Park is home to a dozen hiking trails, crystal clear springs reminiscent of Mexico’s cenotes, and even a castle.

It’s definitely not a laughing matter.

Waterfront Resorts

Who says you have to go to California or Florida to enjoy a nice waterfront stay?

With familiar names like Margaritaville and many others just as notable, an awesome vacation awaits.

In the lovely lakeside town of Osage Beach, rumors are buzzing regarding the highly anticipated $350 million waterfront resort rightfully named Oasis at Lakeport.

This resort behemoth will include its own amusement park, water park, and ritzy hotel as part of a broader entertainment district.

Until it opens at an undisclosed date, there are ample accommodation options for gorgeous lake views and even all-inclusive stays, such as the charming Cobblestone Lodge.

Underrated Spring Break Getaway

While many vacationers are chomping at the bit ready for Spring Break in the household names of Cancun, Cabo and more, the Ozarks make for an optimal alternative.

As winter winds down, the seemingly endless trees begin coming back to life as warmer weather returns.

Spring is a great time to hit the water and explore the Ozarks’ stunning natural sites. Locals say it’s “the season of wildflowers and waterfalls”.

But when the sun goes down, the neon lights turn on. Lake of the Ozarks is party central for vacationers to let loose at local bars and Party Cove – one of the liveliest places in spring.

Who Doesn’t Love A Road Trip?

Many tourists find themselves exploring the Ozarks by boat, but taking the backroads isn’t just a lyric in a country song from the Ozarks staple of Branson.

In terms of its safety reputation, Mexico is hit or miss, depending on who you ask.

However, any trip abroad comes with its risks as we go out of our comfort zone away from home.

Mexico has long battled mainstream news as any violent act or serious offense seems to overtake headlines and leave an impression that all of Mexico is dangerous.

Despite the media’s best efforts, 99.9% of travelers who have been to Mexico surely disagree, as the beautiful country is teeming with welcoming locals, vast cultural cities, delightful pueblo magicos, and, of course, incredible beaches and resorts.

That being said, there are always ‘bad apples’ who can change the narrative, and there are always a handful of tourists who push the envelope.

So, what does the U.S. State Department think with their intel?

Ranging from Level 1 to Level 4 to determine safety levels, the government agency has issued travel advisories for every state in Mexico.

Campeche

Surprisingly, the coastal city of Campeche is trending with travelers this year, and one key reason it’s become a big hit is that it’s one of the safest cities in Mexico.

Beyond the safety aspect, next in line for the ‘trendiest’ title would be the highly-anticipated Maya Train.

Campeche is one of the stops and travelers are loving it! A mix of captivating cultural sites, affordability and nice beaches along the Gulf of Mexico is luring in tourists this year.

There are only 2 states in Mexico designated Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions and Campeche is proud to be in this exclusive club.

Yucatan

The only other standing member in the club is the Yucatan state.

Super safe, gorgeous, and offering ample historical sites, such as Chichen Itza, travelers can’t go wrong visiting this side of Mexico.

Delta Introduces 2 New Flights Between The U.S. And This Iconic Italian Destination

Italy is a bucket list destination packed full of incredible culture, delicious food, and charming natural vistas.

There are so many beautiful Italian cities that it can feel impossible to choose just one.

And now Delta is introducing 2 new flights between the U.S. and this iconic Italian destination:

Delta Flights To Venice

Venice is one of the most iconic cities in Italy.

Travelers in New York can now fly with ease between New York JFK and Venice Marco Polo Airport.

This flight will operate every day, departing from New York at 8.55 pm and landing in Venice at 10.15 am the next day.

The return leg of the journey will depart from Venice at 12.15 pm and arrive in JFK at 5.05 pm.

For the plane geeks among us, this flight will operate using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 216 seats.

If that’s not enough, then for the first time, Delta will also offer 2 daily flights between Venice and Atlanta too.

Later this month, the airline’s nonstop service between Venice and Atlanta will resume, and then in the summer months, this will increase to 2 flights per day.

What does this mean for U.S. travelers to Venice?

This summer, Delta will operate 17 flights a week between Venice and the U.S., making it easier than ever to visit Venice for a summer vacation packed full of culture and romance.

The Popularity Of The Floating City

Venice is one of the most beautiful and iconic destinations in Italy, and it attracts millions of visitors each year.

In fact, it attracts so many visitors that this year, travelers will have to pay a tourist tax to enter the city in a bid to combat overtourism.

Don’t worry this won’t break the bank. You’ll have to pay 5 euros per day to enter the island of Venice between 8:30 and 16:00.

Although this fee won’t be officially introduced until 2025 it will be tested throughout 2024. The current test days will be May 11, 12, 18, 19, 19, 25 and 26.

You have to pay this tax in advance of your arrival, but the good news is that it is incredibly easy to do. Just visit the dedicated website https://cda.ve.it/en/

Why Visit Venice?

Venice is a captivating, breathtakingly beautiful city. Its waterways have captured the hearts and minds of tourists for generations.

It is a small city of grand palaces and old buildings that seem to emerge from the water.

There are no roads in Venice, so traveling by boat (or, if you can afford the luxury, a gondola) is one of the best ways to navigate the city.

There are around 177 different canals to explore in the city, and each offers a unique perspective.

Because Venice is such a compact city, it’s easy to explore in a relatively short period of time.

The Eiffel Tower Of The Midwest

Unmissable among the pretty skyline of St. Louis is the famous Gateway Arch. Standing tall along perhaps the even more famous Mississippi River, this American icon received more visitors than it has in a decade.

Over 2.4 million people flocked to the Arch in 2023. Although famous arches are known for serving billions, this particular Arch’s feat is still impressive.

All U.S. cities have their own unique attractions, but it’s fair to say this is the Midwest’s version of the Eiffel Tower. It’s certainly not Paris, Texas.

It is one of the most Instagramable sites in this region of the States. Tourists are coming in droves for sweeping views of the waterfront park and scenic cityscape.

Over 1,300 acres of open fields and walking trails make this beaut St. Louis’s version of Central Park, if you will.

More Culture Than One Might Expect

As far as world travel goes, St. Louis is easily passed over when thinking of booking your next trip. However, this city is full of surprises, especially when it comes to culture.

The Hill, as it’s known, is one of the most authentic Italian neighborhoods in the U.S. You can skip Olive Garden’s Tour of Italy and head straight to the hill for savory Italian cuisine perpetually on any street in this charming district.

Soulard is another cultural neighborhood worth exploring. While the most famous event, Soulard Mardi Gras, has already passed this year, mark it on your calendar for next year.

Until then, enjoy this historical area of St. Louis lined with charming red-brick buildings and, of course, the Anheuser-Busch brewery, as you are in America’s heartland for brewskis.

Stunning Nature Within Close Reach

St. Louis is a city worth exploring, but it is relatively small compared to other major cities. One might be surprised the city’s population is under 300,000 according to the latest census.

Finish In An Underrated National Park

With many destinations getting more and more expensive, you can still save money on a road trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Your main costs will be a rental car (if you don’t have your own vehicle for the trip), gas, and food. Accommodation is something you can save a lot of money on by camping or even sleeping in your car!

Of course, you can also spend money on hotels, with plenty of options for every budget along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I would recommend at least 5 days for a Blue Ridge Parkway road trip, but you could easily spend 7 to 10 days driving it depending on how many stops you want to make.

The best time for a Blue Ridge Parkway road trip is late spring through fall — it’s one of the best fall foliage destinations in the United States!
