Bali is more expensive than other parts of Indonesia, and it’s one of the relatively more expensive places to travel to in Southeast Asia, but compared to Europe or North America, it’s a dream!

For long-stay tourists, the cost of living in Bali is that it will vary depending on where you’re staying. According to the website Nomadlist, the average monthly cost of living in Canggu is around $1,500 USD per month. Ubud is just a little less at $1,376 per month on average. If you head north to the town of Lovina, costs will be much lower. It depends on where you want to visit and what you want to experience in Bali. Let’s break down the costs to give you a better idea.

Hotels: A mid-range hotel (sometimes with a pool) can range between $25-50 or more per night. If you want to stay longer in Bali, there’s a possibility to rent a villa and this will help cut some costs in the longer term.

Food: A local meal can be found for less than $4, and you can also splurge at a beach-side restaurant on a $20 meal (appetizers included).

Transportation: Being an island, the main way to get around in Bali is by motorbike. A scooter rental will set you back anywhere between $40-70 per month, and daily rentals shouldn’t cost you more than $5.

How Friendly Are The Locals In Bali?

In general, Balinese people are friendly, open, and welcoming people. Their traditional culture and way of life means that there are lots of customs and etiquette to abide by, but travelers to the region typically feel safe and welcomed on the island.

This is a tricky thing to generalize because everyone’s travel experience is different. But if you are respectful to the locals you will be given the same treatment right back, which is similar to most places around the world.

This is probably the most important section on our list! Bali is a sacred island with lots of customs that locals live by every day. While there’s been a massive influx of travelers and expats arriving on the island for decades now, the Balinese try to preserve their culture. 87% of the people in Bali currently identify as Hindu and it’s also the only place in Indonesia where the population is predominantly practicing Hindus.

Here’s a rundown of the top customs and etiquette practices to follow when visiting Bali:
- Don’t point at anyone.
- Don’t touch the head of a local (so, like, don’t go patting random kids on the head even if they are super cute).
- Take off your shoes when entering a local’s home.
- Don’t let your foot soles show while sitting.
- Don’t cross your arms or put your hands on your tips (these are seen as aggressive postures).
- Be mindful of the offerings on the ground and don’t crush them.
- Don’t engage in a political discussion or activity, especially with any locals (you might be in the clear, but it is much more serious for the locals).
Temple etiquette:

Temples are superfluous in Bali, so following the right protocol when visiting a temple is super important.
- Take off your shoes before entering.
- Dress modestly. Keep your shoulders and legs covered.
- Put on a sarong to cover your legs when entering a temple.
- According to religious teachings, women on their periods can’t enter any temples or other sacred places of worship.
Top Trending Things To Do In Bali

The Monkey Forest Sanctuary: You’ve probably seen it on Instagram, and it’s also a must-do when visiting Bali. After visiting Monkey Forest, you can easily fill your days in Bali enjoying the island’s many beautiful beaches and temples. Some of the most notable temples are Gunung Kawi Temple near Ubud and Pura Lempuyang Luhur, which is located along the eastern tip of the island.

If you want to get a little under-the-radar, the West Bali National Park covers an area of over 70 square miles and serves as a sanctuary for over 100 species of birds, endangered plants, marine life, and so much more. Is Bali Safe For Travelers?

The biggest safety issues that most travelers experience in Bali is actually with transportation. Bali is filled with narrow, winding roads that aren’t great for walking and can be tricky when driving a scooter. Make sure to be careful when walking along a main road and when driving a motorbike because lots of accidents do occur, especially among tourists.

Bali is also a safe destination for women travelers. Just make sure to respect the local customs and don’t dress too immodestly when venturing outside of the beach or pool area. Grab is the Southeast Asian version of Uber, and this app is essential when visiting Bali. Use Grab to find a motorbike taxi to take you to your destination.

Very popular in Bali, Go-Jek is your all-in-one ride share and delivery app. This app has a handy list of restaurants and grocery stores and you can order anything for delivery straight to your door.

Insider tip: Travelers should be aware that in some cities of Bali, only local taxis are allowed. Make sure to ask an experienced traveler or local before requesting a ride share because the driver might not be allowed to enter the area.

For messaging, WhatsApp is the main app used on the island. If you haven’t already, download this app to your phone before your trip.

How’s The WiFi Situation?

Especially amongst the digital nomad community, Bali is well-known for its buzzing coffee shops and co-working spaces with excellent WiFi (and strong coffee to boot). That being said, the WiFi connection in Bali depends on where you are on the island.

According to Nomadlist, the average WiFi speed in Bali is 6 mgps. In general, the towns on the southern tip get much stronger connections than towns in the north.

If you really need a strong WiFi connection, consider investing in a pocket WiFi for your trip. Check with local providers XL, Telkomsel, and Smartfen and inquire about their pocket WiFi rentals.

What Are Some Of The Top Experiences?

From fire dances at sunset to sunrise hikes on volcanoes, Bali is filled with unforgettable experiences. And now that the island has finally reopened to international travelers, it’s time to get out there and enjoy them all.

How Long Can I Stay?

According to the latest guidance, your 30-day visa can only be extended once, which would give you 2 months in total in Bali.

These Are the European Airports Travelers May Want to Avoid This Summer

If you’re planning a trip to Europe this summer, you might be in for long travel delays and there are a few airports across the continent you may want to avoid.

Europe has been inundated with travel interruptions that have caused headaches and frustration for hundreds of thousands of people in the past few weeks alone. Things aren’t getting better either. In fact, it may be getting worse.

Airports in Europe are struggling to keep up with traveler demand.

There are a few European airports travelers may want to avoid this summer if they want to steer clear of the chaos that is looming over the travel industry.

Every day it feels like there’s another issue at a major airport across the globe. From flight cancellations, and hour-long delays, to airline strikes that cripple entire operations.

Traveling in the summer of 2022 is back but it’s not going to be easy.

In the front of it all is Europe, home to the 5 most visited countries in the world. Each year Europe welcomes north of 700 million tourists, and this summer is bound to be a record year for international travel to the historical continent.

London Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted Airport

Airports throughout the U.K. including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, and many more have been hot-spots for thousands of cancellations over the past weeks.

British Airways has been forced to cancel around 8,000 flights between March and October.

This decision was largely affected by the government’s involvement, urging airlines to cancel flights preemptively in order to prevent further chaos across U.K. airports.

The government wasn’t the only one asking, Heathrow airport which is the U.K.’s busiest airport with 1,300 daily flights, asked airlines to cancel around 10% of flights just earlier this week.

This isn’t even the worst of it, just this past weekend, travelers at Heathrow had to wait for hours to retrieve their luggage, ruining and delaying entire trips.

Meanwhile, Gatwick Airport, Britain’s second-busiest airport, announced that I will put a cap on departures and landings this summer. 825 departures and landings will be permitted in July, and 850 daily operations will be allowed in August.

The airport is hoping that with this limit, airlines will be able to better handle travelers during the peak summer season.

Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport

The Netherlands’ biggest airport is putting a limit on how many passengers will be permitted to fly out of the airport this summer. This comes after passengers have had to wait for hours outside the airport just to make it to the ticket counters, let alone make their way through security.

The airport and airline cited staffing shortages as the culprit and will also put a limit on the number of daily flights in and out of the airport.

El Prat airport in Barcelona, Malaga, and Palma de Mallorca

Easy Jet, a popular low-cost airline in Europe is facing difficulties with its Spanish cabin crew. Unions have urged cabin crews based in Spain to go on strike for nine days in July over ongoing pay disputes.

Despite the airline’s assurances that a strike would not impact airport operations throughout the country, it is unclear how a staff walkout could not impact flight operations given the already low amount of staff airlines have at their disposal.

Staff at El Prat airport in Barcelona, Malaga, and Palma de Mallorca are expected to go on strike from 1-3 July, 15-17 July, and 29-31 July.

Other European airports are at risk as well.

Lufthansa has also announced that it will cancel almost 1000 flights in July due to staffing shortages. This will mainly affect Germany’s two major airports in Frankfurt and Munich.

Travels may want to avoid those two airports, especially on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as the airline announced cancellations will be affecting the weekends.

Brussels, Belgium’s capital, and home to its largest airport is also facing severe travel interruptions with thousands of employees taking to the streets and striking the country’s labor laws. The airport has already seen the cancellation of at least 315 flights, affecting around 40,000 passengers.

Similar strikes can be expected this summer.

The immediate future of aviation across the globe.

It turns out that in order to operate airports you need proper staffing, something that has been in short supply over the past 2 years. The global aviation industry lost around four million jobs since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Getting the right people to fill those jobs takes time – time that airlines thought they’d be having more of.

No one predicted such a high demand for travel in a post-covid world. Airlines certainly didn’t.

It is unclear how long airlines and airports across Europe and beyond will need to get their staffing to proper levels, some experts believe it can take up to 12 months.

The only thing travelers currently have control over is what airports they fly in and out of. Avoiding the major airports in the U.K. , Spain, and The Netherlands will be your best chance to lower the possibility of having to deal with flight interruptions.

French Bee Airline Announces $281 Nonstop Flights From Miami To Paris

French Bee Airline, France’s first budget long-haul carrier, will be launching new direct flights from Miami International Airport to Paris Orly Airport beginning this December. Fares will start at $281 each way for a basic economy ticket and $641 for a premium economy ticket. The flight will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with plans to scale to four flights a week by the following April.

Travelers will leave Miami at 9 pm and arrive in Paris at 11:40 am, allowing those who can sleep on planes the opportunity to adjust to the new time zone quickly. There is no need to rush to the airport for the trip back as the return flight from Paris will leave at 2:30 pm and arrive in Miami at 6:45 pm. Total flight time from Miami to Paris will be 8 hours and 45 minutes, while the flight back to Miami from Paris will take 10 hours and 25 minutes.

Those who travel light will love the prices of French Bee‘s basic economy tickets, starting at $281 each way. If flying in basic economy, passengers are allowed to bring one 26lb carry-on bag. While this sounds very small, a 26lb bag can be more than enough for a quick getaway to Paris if packed correctly. For those who need more luggage, French Bee allows passengers to customize their ticket by upgrading to a ‘smart’ ticket which allows a 50lb checked bag and includes an in-flight meal. For those with even more luggage, upgrading to a ‘premium’ ticket allows for two 50lb checked bags and includes two in-flight meals, complimentary drinks, premium seats, and priority boarding.

The new flight addition comes after four years of success in the U.S. market, which began with a direct flight from San Francisco to Paris and Tahiti in 2018. After several years of successfully operating flights out of San Francisco, French Bee added two more routes to Paris, flying out of Los Angeles and New York. With the latest flight offering coming out of Miami, French Bee is gaining a better foothold in the U.S. market as a wonderful option for those seeking nonstop flights to Paris.

“Paris remains one of the most desired international destinations in the world for South Floridians and with the continued growth that Miami is witnessing, we are confident that this is the best market for our first Southeast route. We are excited about this expansion as we know that passengers will find value in booking competitive prices in the market,” said French Bee President Marc Rochet in a press release. And while the company may be excited about the new flight, travelers are sure to be even more eager for the new offering.

CDC Lowers Covid Health Risk For 6 More Countries

With Covid finally on course to become an endemic disease, and no longer a particularly worrying threat to public health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is making some important updates to its travel advisories. Now, six more countries have had their health risk levels downgraded, enjoying a new Level 2 status.

Throughout the pandemic, the CDC has classified different destinations based on their epidemiology. Level 1 means the circulation of Covid is low, while on Levels 2 and 3 it is deemed ‘moderate’ and ‘high’, respectively. Level 4 is usually reserved for ‘special circumstances’ when the virus is rampant, or a new variant of concern has been identified.

The six new countries that are now in the CDC’s good graces had been placed on the ‘high risk’ list for months – even after cases subsided and pandemic restrictions were dropped. As of June 21, they are no longer perceived as risky destinations:

Bolivia

An unsung Latin American country, Bolivia had been stuck in a Category 3 limbo up until yesterday, June 21, when the latest CDC guidance was published. Following the update, it was moved down to the ‘Moderate Risk’ grouping, meaning that although Covid transmission is still possible within the country, the viral spread remains within acceptable levels.

Despite being a safer destination than it once was, at least regarding Covid, Bolivia is not yet fully open for travel. Local authorities may have allowed international flights to resume as early as 2020, but they still expect air passengers to satisfy certain health requirements ahead of traveling to Bolivia for tourism.

Entry Requirements For Bolivia In 2022
- When fully vaccinated, visitors must present a printed or digital copy of their certificate
- If they are yet to be immunized, undergoing a PCR in under 72 hours, or a Rapid Antigen test 48 hours before boarding
- All arrivals must register their local address online prior to flying
Ethiopia

Lower-than-average vaccination coverage aside, Africa as a whole seems to be moving past the critical stage of the pandemic, and Ethiopia is a clear example of that. Once one of the hardest hit in the continent, the nation has now been granted a Level 2 placing, outpacing other major tourist spots like South Africa and Seychelles.

Visiting Ethiopia may come with a set of restrictions, including mandatory testing for the unvaccinated, but at least it is far from being overwhelmed by Covid. According to latest data shared by Reuters, this Eastern African jewel is currently recording 656 new infections on average per day, or only 16% of the highest case tally reported on December 31.

Entry Requirements For Ethiopia In 2022
- Travelers who are not vaccinated must present a negative Covid test for entry, either a PCR (72 hours preceding travel) or a Rapid Antigen (24 hours)
- Alternatively, recovery certificates issued within the last 3 months are also considered valid proof of entry
Kenya

An up-and-coming tourist destination, Kenya is considered by many the ultimate Africa trip: perfect for slow-paced travel and safari adventures, it is home to some of the continent’s most emblematic wildlife, and arguably its most welcoming people(s). On top of that, traveling to Kenya does not involve particularly high Covid infection risks, as assessed by the CDC.

A Level 2 nation, Kenya is welcoming all vaccinated travelers, including American, without testing, quarantine, or any other health-related requirements. As long as incoming passengers can produce a vaccination certificate at the border, they are free to explore the region’s natural immediately after leaving the airport.

- A vaccination certificate is required
- Vaccination certificates must be uploaded to the Global Haven website
- Unless exempt, unvaccinated tourists are not allowed to enter; those who qualify for an exemption must present a negative PCR test result obtained up to 72 hours in advance
Morocco

North of the Sahara Desert, Morocco is joining both Ethiopia and Kenya as one of very few nations in Africa where Covid risks are understood to be ‘moderate’. According to the CDC, visitors are simply advised to make sure they are up to date with their vaccination schedule when visiting Morocco – indeed, it remains an official requirement for entry.

Morocco is one of the most touristy nations in the North of Africa, with cities like Marrakech, Fez, Rabat and Tangier dating back thousands of years, and a spotless Mediterranean coastline that rivals those of neighboring African and European countries. Luckily, flights into the country have been authorized again since February 2022.

Entry Requirements For Morocco In 2022
- Passengers must present a three-dose vaccination certificate, or then a two-dose vaccination certificate less than four months old
- When unable to satisfy the above requirement, they may present a negative PCR test result (72 hours before boarding)
- Recovery certificates will not be accepted
- All travelers must fill out a Passenger Locator Form
Romania

Over in Eastern Europe, Romania’s infection rates have decreased fast enough for it to attain a Level 2 classification this week. A mystical land dotted with castles, medieval citadels, remnants of bygone empires and even a coastline – Black Sea summer, anyone? – the country’s tourism sector will surely benefit from the CDC revision over summer.

Unlike every other destination mentioned so far on this list, Romania is open with no restrictions whatsoever: both the vaccinated, and unvaccinated, are allowed to come and go as it pleases them, since Romanian border authorities ceased checking Covid documentation back in March.

Sweden

Last but not least, Sweden is now the first in Scandinavia to be moved back to the Level 2 bracket. Out of all the new Level 2 entries, it has to be the safest nation overall, reporting a nearly negligible 226 new infections per day – only 1% of the January 27 peak. Fortunately for travelers, the CDC has acknowledged Sweden’s success in managing the health crisis (at last).

More importantly, Covid levels are now so low in the country that Sweden recently scrapped all entry requirements, reinstating travel guidelines exactly as they were back in 2019. Since late March, Americans visiting Sweden have no longer been subject to Europe’s infamously strict Covid regulations, vaccine requirements, testing, or quarantine.

With millions of Americans looking to travel to celebrate Independence Day (4 July) – in the coming week or so – these are the most popular domestic destinations for U.S. travelers.

Now that millions of Americans are thinking twice about traveling this summer, due to the crippling price hikes for both fuel and flight tickets, Uber is relaunching an old feature many thought had been permanently removed – and one that may help travelers on a budget save money on short trips. Uber Pool is official back, with a few twists.

The Covid-induced inflation and its long-term impacts have changed the travel landscape abruptly in the last couple of months. We went from post-pandemic excitement to a full blown fuel and aviation crisis in only a matter of weeks, pushing up the price of travel and casting doubts on the long-anticipated economic recovery.

Fortunately, Uber is doing its part in easing the burden currently shared by all travelers:

Taking An Uber In 2022 Is About To Become Much Cheaper

Two years after having suspended the Pool feature, as a result of the conflicting Covid regulations across different countries, and the need for social distancing, Uber is bringing it back under a new name: UberX Share. Besides the rebrand, the service provider has also made some major upgrades to the feature.

Between 2019 and 2022, Uber fares rose by a staggering 45 per cent, as confirmed by Bloomberg, largely due to the rising cost of fuel in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Even though the tragic events in Europe are an ocean away from the States, the embargo on Russian oil is hitting Americans in the pocket.

Under the current circumstances, filling up a car can easily cost over $100 in several U.S. states, affecting both drivers and customers relying on platforms such as Uber. With the return of the Uber carpool – re-titled UberX Share – passengers will be able to share a ride with other commuters to save on cash, making trips much more accessible again.

Uber Pool 2.0 Has Some Major Improvements Over The Original

Starting this summer, riders will be able to ‘Share a Ride, Get Savings‘: in simpler terms, they will be entitled to an ‘upfront discount’ when choosing to travel with UberX Share, or up to 20% off the fare when succeeding in matching with a co-rider on the way. Taking an Uber to and from the airport has never been easier – or cheaper.

Besides the discount, Uber is guaranteeing drivers will ‘Stay on Schedule’. Unlike the extinct Pool, UberX Share will only match co-riders traveling on the same route, allowing both drivers and passengers to optimize their time, and preventing the dreaded pickup, drop-off delays associated with carpooling.

Additionally, UberX Share drivers are being instructed to arrive no more than 8 minutes later than their UberX counterparts, further improving service reliability for the summer season. While there is no way of predicting whether a flight will be axed or not amid the ongoing travel chaos, one thing is for certain: your Uber driver will be there.

Besides the aforementioned improvements on co-rider matching and wait times, UberX Share will be limited to two passengers at a time. You read that right: no more sharing the car sandwhiched between three other strangers all heading in completely different directions. With this update, Uber rides are set to become a lot more comfortable.

Lastly, by improving the carpooling experience and fixing a few of Uber Pool’s most common errors, the company promises to match ‘more people in fewer cars faster’. Coupled with the discounts, this will help lower fares drastically, as less fuel will be required and gas emissions per passenger will be curtailed.

Where Is UberX Share Available?

So far, only a handful of cities in the U.S. have the feature available at the time this article was written. However, as summer rolls in and more travelers hit the road, more spots across America will be getting the long-awaited upgrade as well. For now, only commuters residing in the following cities can use UberX Share:
- New York City
- Los Angeles
- Chicago
- San Francisco
- San Diego
- Phoenix
- Indianapolis
- Portland
- Pittsburgh

American Airlines Suspends 4 Popular International Routes While Cutting Flights To More U.S. Cities

Out of concern they will not be able to cope with a rising travel demand, and in order to protect other important routes, American Airlines has made the painful decision to suspend four of its most popular international flights. While two of them will be unavailable during winter only, the others were either paused indefinitely – or worse, axed forever.

As if that weren’t enough, the airline is pulling out of three U.S. cities amid a major network shake-up, unceremoniously severing vital links between smaller domestic hubs and larger airports. The first post-Covid summer may be completely restriction-free, as promised, but cancellations and travel disruption continue widespread across the industry.

American’s latest scale back is yet another proof of that:

American Drops 3 U.S. Cities From Map While Suspending A Number Of International Routes

Citing staffing constraints and, more importantly, pilot shortages, American Airlines is dropping three routes and ‘temporarily’ halting service on five others, both domestic and international. Three of those are paused indefinitely, while two are unavailable through winter 2022. Below, you will find a list of all affected destinations and their current status:

Domestic
- Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT) to Alexandria, Louisiana (AEX) – Cut
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Ontario, California (ONT) – Cut
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to El Paso, Texas (ELP) – Suspended indefinitely
- Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT) to Sioux Falls, South Dakota (FSD) – Suspended indefinitely
International
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Saint Lucia (UVF) – Cut
- Dallas/Forth Worth (DFW) to San Pedro Sula, Honduras (SAP) – Suspended indefinitely
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (SDQ) – Suspended during winter 2022
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Santiago, Dominican Republic (STI) – Suspended during winter 2022
Judging by the airline’s recent announcements, which include new flights to Cozumel, in Mexico, and two destinations in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic no longer ranks high on their list of priority destinations right now, with a majority of American travelers set to fly to Mexico instead this summer.

Small Cities In The States Of New York And Ohio Will Have New Connectivity Problems

Dealing another heavy blow to regional airports, which are among some of the most affected by cuts and trimmed schedules during the worsening aviation crisis, American Airlines is also dropping a further three U.S. cities from their route map altogether. Effective September 7, the airline will cease serving the following hubs:
- Islip, New York (ISP)
- Ithaca, New York (ITH)
- Toledo, Ohio (TOL)
According to an American Airlines spokesperson, the company made the ‘difficult decision’ to withdraw from the three cities as it struggles with staff shortages, affecting not only them but every major airline in the U.S. at present. They have reassured customers they will ‘proactively reach out’ to them after September 7 to offer ‘alternate arrangements’.

Passengers from both Islip and Ithaca relied on the availability of intra-U.S. flights to access major networks, within the U.S. and abroad, while Toledo residents are left with no choice but to drive two hours to Cleveland when vital links are cut. Now that one of the largest airlines in America has given up on them, logistics could become a lot more complex.

Envoy Air, American’s regional affiliate, had historically connected Toledo’s Express Airport to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), one of the busiest in the States. Sadly, even after having established a strong presence in this market over many years, and offering Toledo’s only gateway into the world, American Airlines saw no other choice but to shut down all operations.

Similarly to Envoy, Piedmont Airlines provided easy links to Philadelphia (PHL) from both Tompkins International Airport, in Ithaca, and the Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip. Those will no longer be available come September 7, when the changes will be enacted and American Airlines is due to end the aforementioned service.

Toledo Is Now Effectively Cut Off From All Major Flight Networks

It’s not all bad for the New York cities, as they will remain connected to the networks of at least 4 big U.S. carriers. Southwest Airlines will continue operating in Islip, alongside Frontier and Breeze, and Ithaca still has Delta Connection and United Express as backup now that American is leaving for good. Conversely, connectivity has been seriously reduced in Toledo.

Once American Airlines halts operations in the city, ultra low-cost airline Allegiant Air will be the only airline present in the city. Flights are only available to a handful of other small U.S. hubs, such as Orlando/Sanford, Phoenix/Mesa, Punta Gorda in Florida and St Petersburg/Clearwater – we’re afraid the two-hour drive to Cleveland is the least stressful option here.

The presence of strategic route maps that benefit smaller airports is paramount for regional connectivity, something that has come under threat again as the industry seeks to readjust overambitious schedules following an unprecedented surge in passenger numbers. Unfortunately, local hubs should brace for far greater future challenges yet to come.

These European Hotspots Are Limiting Tourists Due to Overtourism

Tourism and travel have made an astonishing return over the past few months. Crippled to it’s core by a global pandemic, tourism around the world grinded to a complete halt for 2 years. Now with an overwhelming amount of tourists visiting European hotspots, countries are taking steps to limit the number of visitors and prevent overtourism.

With the successful help of vaccination efforts around the globe, dozens of countries have loosened entry restrictions, some nations have even taken a ‘post-covid’ approach and learned to live with the virus – removing entry restrictions entirely.

People more than ever are willing and eager to travel, and many destinations are feeling the pressure. The numbers are so high in fact that popular vacation spots in Europe are unable to manage the number of tourists that they receive.

Marseille initiates a permit system.

Marseille located in southern France is one of the most popular tourist destinations in France. Filled with beautiful beaches and romantic quaint streets, Marseille is often considered the heart of the French Rivera.

This port city has been hit by over tourism for a while now, in recent years however it has gotten a lot worse. Now the city is trying to make a change.

The famous Calanque de Sugiton and beach nearby will now require visitors to apply for an online pass prior to arriving. Visitors will have the chance to make an online reservation up to 3 days prior and at 6pm the night before, the registration will be closed.

City officials will be patrolling the area and doing spot checks to ensure visitors are compliant with the new policy.

Daily numbers for visitors will be restricted to 400 people and one person can only visit the site 8 times for the duration of the summer.

This new approach will go into effect from the end of June all the way until the end of August.

Amalfi Coast to implement alternate plate restriction.

A few hundred miles away the Amalfi Coast is implementing their own rules to combat excessive tourism.

Local officials are beginning a new system that alternates who can access the famous 35-kilometer road between Vietri sul Mae and Positano.

On odd number days, only cars with odd number ending license plates are allowed to drive on the road. On even number days, cars with even number ending license plates can take to the famous street.

This new policy will run from the middle of June, all the way through the end of September 2022.

10am to 6pm on weekends, as well as during the Easter Holy week holiday.

However, residents of the region are exempt. So are public buses and taxis.

This isn’t the first-time officials in Europe have tried to combat over tourism.

Venice who at the height of summer receives up to 150,000 tourists per day has stopped cruise ships from docking in its ports because the city could not sustain the number of tourists it was receiving.

Local businesses were overrun with tourists, the canals overfilled, and locals were outnumbered 50 to 1.

The dangers of overtourism

Overtourism can wreak havoc on local municipals and the people that reside there. From hour-long traffic lanes, high cost of living and too many people in a limited space will always create challenges.

Europe has some of the most visited countries in the world; from Spain, Germany, Italy, and the U.K. everyone of these countries has their own challenges with over tourism.

One thing is for sure, restrictions on over tourism needs to be at the forefront of these nations in order to preserve the quality of life for locals and their surrounding environment.

Bahamas Drops All Testing For Vaccinated Travelers

The Bahamas has become one of the latest destinations around the world to drop its Covid-19 testing requirements for travelers who are fully vaccinated against the virus. The Caribbean tourist hotspot, famed and adored the world over for its pristine, palm lined white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, made the announcement during the week, and will be hoping that the easier entry requirements will lead to a surge in the number of travelers heading there over the summer.

The move will be warmly welcomed by travelers and businesses on the islands alike, with The Bahamas previously being one of the few Caribbean islands to still have such strict entry requirements in place and suffering as a result of it. Here’s a look at what exactly is set to change regarding entry requirements in The Bahamas, and which travelers are affected by the country’s latest changes.

Bahamas Travel Made Easier – Information For Travelers

For decades now, The Bahamas have been the byword for the perfect Caribbean getaway. Featured on the front covers of travel guides and magazines the world over, the 700 plus islands of The Bahamas have welcomed tourists in great numbers, with more than 7 million taking the trip back in 2019. Whilst the pandemic and the restrictions that came with it have seen travel figures shrink, recent changes by the country could see that change this summer.

Last week, the government of The Bahamas revealed that they would no longer be requiring fully vaccinated foreign travelers to present proof of a negative Covid-19 test result to enter the country – making vacations to the country much easier and much more attractive for millions of travelers. The change of policy went live just yesterday, meaning travelers can now benefit from the change of restrictions and will only have to show proof of vaccination prior to boarding their flights to the country.

For unvaccinated travelers, there are still some hoops that need to be jumped through in order to be able to enter the country. Unvaccinated travelers aged 2 and above will be required to obtain a negative Covid-19 test result and present it check-in before being able to travel to The Bahamas. Travelers may use either a negative RT-PCR test or a Rapid Antigen test, but it must be taken within 72 of travel to be valid.

Thankfully, there are some exceptions to the rules that will be welcome by travelers with families. Children under the age of 2 are exempt from any testing requirements and can enter freely without needing a test. Travelers will also be glad to hear that the requirement to take a Covid-19 test in order to take part in inter-island travel has also been scrapped, with travelers now able to travel freely between the country’s 700+ islands and 2000+ beaches without taking a test beforehand – regardless of their Covid-19 vaccination status.

The removal of the testing requirement for vaccinated travelers isn’t the only change The Bahamas made to streamline entry for travelers. The government also removed the requirement for travelers to apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa in order to enter the country – saving prospective travelers time, effort and money. This change applies to all travelers, regardless of vaccination status, and is effective now.

Speaking about his country’s changes, Chester Cooper,the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation in The Bahamas, said:

“The Bahamas is adapting to the continued evolution of this pandemic. We want to streamline the entry process for travelers as much as possible, all while ensuring we are protecting public health. We hope the changes to the pre-travel testing requirements combined with the elimination of the Travel Health Visa will reduce friction for travelers and further the recovery of our tourism sector.”

Now that a beach close to Cancun has been named the best in all of Mexico, we expect these impressive numbers to rise even higher.

But how has Allianz been able to establish that? In sum, researchers looked at data from over a million trips to be taken by their own customers over the summer season, especially those who purchased an Allianz Partners travel insurance between 5 and 8 days. Unsurprisingly, Mexico came out ahead of all other competitors with the most planned itineraries.

For the restriction-wary, all of the destinations above are welcoming American tourists with no health-related requirements, with the exception of Nassau in The Bahamas and Providenciales Island in Turks & Caicos. Those two countries require travelers to be fully vaccinated, or present a negative Covid as valid proof of entry when unvaccinated.
