A new mega theme park is set to open near the popular tourist hotspot of Cancun – in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The news comes at a time when Cancun is already welcoming huge numbers of tourists by the day – with hotels in the most popular vacation spot for American tourists almost fully booked for the summer months ahead.

And, the announcement that there will soon be a new mega theme park opening in the state of Quintana Roo is sure to attract even more tourists to Mexico – with the country expected to welcome as many as 40 million international visitors this year.

Just a week ago we reported that Marriott is also set to open a new all-inclusive resort in the city of Cancun – which will include its very-own water park, as well as more than 1,000 hotel rooms.

What We Know So Far About The New Mega Theme Park

What we do know so far is that the new mega theme park will go by the name of Malltertainment – with the complex set to become a great spot for family and friends to enjoy time together, and boast a variety of entertainment options to choose from.

Here are some of the features that visitors to the new mega theme park – Malltertainment – can expect to find:

    A person skating on ice
    • an amusement park
    • an ice rink
    • a go-kart track – which in fact is set to be the biggest in the world
    • a 7,500-seater auditorium
    • a hot air balloon attraction

There are also plans for the theme park to feature an area of 80,000 square meters of water – which visitors will be able to enjoy – however, at this present time it has not been confirmed whether this will be an actual water park or another water-based attraction.

As well as the above mentioned features, visitors to Malltertainment will also be able to choose from a number of restaurants options on site, as well as shops and other amenities which are sure to meet the needs of all of those who enter its doors.

Who Is Behind The Malltertainment’ Theme Park Project?

Palace Resorts is the company group behind the Malltertainment project, with their new theme park complex set to open right next to one of their biggest – and one of Cancun’s most-popular all-inclusive hotel resorts – the Moon Palace Cancun.

The company behind the construction of the Malltertainment theme park is Gicsa – a Mexico-based real estate development company.

And, if the news that visitors to the Moon Palace Cancun will soon be able to enjoy a day-trip to the new nearby theme park complex, Malltertainment, wasn’t enough – there is still a huge amount of entertainment that the Moon Palace Cancun, itself, offers visitors.

That is because the all-inclusive hotel resort offers thousands of rooms, several swimming pools, as many as 16 on-site restaurants to choose from – as well as a luxury spa, fitness center, tennis and basketball courts, a selection of bars and clubs to party the night away in, a children’s playroom, and much much more.

Photo of golf putter putting the ball into the hole

It is also the perfect choice for golf-lovers – with the Moon Palace Cancun not only being a stone’s-throw away from the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, but the resort itself also offering visitors the chance to learn golfing tips and techniques at its very-own Moon Palace Golf Academy.

So, the news that there is soon to be a new mega theme park opening in the area is no doubt going to attract even more visitors – with millions of tourists already having enjoyed all that is on offer in this hugely popular part of the city of Cancun.

How Big Is ‘Malltertainment’ Expected To Be?

How Much Is The Project Expected To Cost?

The new mega theme park project – Malltertainment – is set to have an investment of in excess of 100 million pesos, which is more than 5 million US Dollars.

Malltertainment’ Joins The List Of Other Theme Parks In The Riviera Maya

Malltertainment is not the first theme park to be built in the area of the Riviera Maya, with the Caribbean coastline – which runs along Mexico’s northeastern Yucatán Peninsula – already offering a variety of theme park-based attractions to visitors.

When Is Malltertainment Expected To Open?

Although an opening date is yet to be announced for the Palace Group’s new mega theme park – Malltertainment – visitors should certainly not expect it to arrive anytime this year (2022).

However, once completed – and fully open for visitors – the brand new attraction is expected to open up as many as 5000 job opportunities – which is sure to be great news for the local economy.

Air France’s New Business Class Seats For Long-Haul Flights

Air France recently revealed its latest business class seats on 12 of its Boeing-777-300 fleet. Travelers will be able to enjoy the redesigned cabin on certain long-haul flights with the French airline, including a direct flight from Paris’s CDG Airport and New York’s JFK Airport come September.

Some of the luxuries on board will include meals created by French Michelin-starred chefs, a personal 17-inch high-def TV screen complete with noise reducing headphones, WiFi, and a bluetooth connection in case you want to connect any of your devices on board.

The redesigned seats in this new business class cabin will follow the 3 “F”s: full flat, full access, full privacy. Much to any long-haul travelers delight, these new full flat seats are designed to recline to make a two-meter long bed. For an easy bathroom break, all seats also have direct access to the aisle.

And sliding doors, but of course! In what is perhaps the most innovative new design on board, these upgraded seats will each come with a personalized sliding door to ensure optimal privacy for all cabin passengers.

Fly First-Class On Delta’s Latest Airbus

Delta Air Lines latest airbus took to the skies this month and is 20% more fuel-efficient than previous models. And, the new Airbus a321neo (neo: new engine option) comes with a new and stylish first-class cabin that makes for a tempting upgrade.

This new first-class experience on Delta features 20 seats made with memory foam and come with winged headrests. Passengers can purchase satellite WiFi streaming at $5/device or enjoy the in-flight entertainment on their personal 10-inch screens.

The airline’s new premium cabins will also offer travelers a bit of indulgence with their eco-conscious amenity kits by the socially conscious brand Someone Somewhere. Kits come with an eye mask and sustainability-focused products such as a lip balm, hand cream, and a bamboo toothbrush.

At the time, the only flight on this fleet is between San Francisco International and Boston Logan Airport. Beginning July 11, flights on the airbus will expand to Boston-San Diego and Boston-Denver, with select trips between Boston-Seattle starting July 20.

KLM Reveals Latest Business Class Seats On Boeing 777

This week, Dutch Airline KLM revealed plans for its restored business class cabins on its Boeing 777 aircraft.

Similar to Air France’s updated business class seats, the KLM model will also have fully reclining seats, full access to the aisle, as well as the innovative sliding doors to give passengers full privacy.

The seats will be offered on all of KLM’s 777-300E and 777-200 international business class flights. And on top of a revamped business class experience, a new Premium Comfort class will be added to the aircraft. KLM’s upgraded fleet are scheduled to launch in 2023.

Finnair’s latest business class experience for long-haul flights features new Collins’ Air Lounge seats with a contoured shell design for maximum movement and space. When you need to rest, the seat can turn into a lay-flat bed complete with a mattress pad. And of course, the textiles and amenity kits offered on board are exclusive from Finnish luxury designer Marimekko.

Just launched this week, travelers on Finnair can enjoy a Nordic-inspired signature cocktail on board called “Northern Blush.” The upgraded meals on board the flight offer local, international, as well as Nordic flavors served on chinaware from local Finnish company littala.

The roll out of Finnair’s renewed business class cabins for long-haul flights will continue throughout 2022 and into next year.

  • Your Next Uber is Going to Cost You a Lot More

Your Next Uber is Going to Cost You a Lot More

    [ad_1]

    Last Updated

Every day it feels like things are becoming more and more expensive. The cost of living is sky rocking across the globe. Airfares are soaring, hotels and Airbnb’s are going up by the day, and fuel costs are hitting record levels.

Everything seems to be going up. Unfortunately, transportation services are no exception. Ride-sharing company Uber has made a lot of changes in recent weeks with the hopes of expanding its business model.

    uber app

Soon, however, the cost of ordering an Uber will cost you a lot more than it did a year ago.

When Uber first broke into the market in 2011, it quickly became a rising star in the tech field as well as becoming a favorite app for millions of Americans.

People who commuted for work, traveled for business, or simply just needed a ride home late at night, it seemed like everyone wanted to use Uber – and rightfully so.

Uber car service on the streets of New York at Night. With selective focus on Uber logo

It was an ingenious idea that became popular not just because it was convenient, but also because it was affordable!

Finally, could you get around town without having to pay an arm and a leg. No more heckling with opportunistic taxi drivers for a lower fare. No more waiting outside in the blistering cold, hoping you’d get picked up by a taxi.

At last, Uber came and seemingly took over the industry by storm – it was what society needed.

And for a while Uber was just that, tremendously affordable. Unfortunately, it seems like those days are over.

Close up of UBER sign at their headquarters in SOMA district

Uber was affordable because it was heavily subsidized by investors but over the course of the past years, Uber has consistently lost a significant amount of money, including more than $30 billion the five-odd years since the company’s finances became public.

The solution? Higher costs passed on to consumers.

Rides have been getting—and will continue to get—more expensive. Average Uber prices rose 92 percent between 2018 and 2021, according to data from Rakuten; a separate analysis reports an increase of 45 percent between 2019 and 2022.

Both Uber and Lyft have added a surcharge for riders that helps drivers account for high gas prices.

A once rising star in the transportation industry

It isn’t too farfetched to believe that Uber was burning all that investor cash in order to corner the market.

Once it killed off car service, taxi cartels, and its ride-hail rivals, the company would stop charging riders less than it was paying drivers and prices would have to go up.

    taxi in new york

This week an Uber from Manhattan to JFK Airport was $100—nearly double the fixed yellow cab rate. But take a guess how long it’ll take you to find a yellow cab.

The fundamental problem Uber and Lyft keep running into is that most people are not willing to pay the fares it would cost to run a profitable taxi service with the overhead Uber and Lyft require.

    uber app

At the end consumers are the ones who are suffering

Uber fares are at a record high with no end in sight. What once was a convenient and affordable way to get around town, turned into something a lot more expensive and burdensome for people.

For years we were made to believe that one can take a 20-minute drive and only pay $7 for it.

    woman waiting for uber

Clearly that is no longer than case and consumers will have to take a very hard look at whether or not they’re willing to pay the price for Uber now and in the future.

  • Cyprus Removes All Covid Related Entry Requirements

Cyprus Removes All Covid Related Entry Requirements

    [ad_1]

    Share The Article

    Last Updated

Cyprus is set to remove all of its Covid-19 related entry restrictions from the beginning of next month. The popular island, located south of Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea, has become the latest country around the world to announce the removal of its Covid-19 related entry requirements in a move that is set to be welcomed by travelers and businesses on the island alike as we head into a busy summer of travel on the continent.

In announcing the impending removal of its Covid-19 related entry requirements, Cyprus is following in the footsteps of its fellow European countries Belgium and Germany, who made similar such restriction-ending announcements during the past week. Here’s a run down of how the entry requirements are set to change for the country, plus a look at Cyprus’ other Covid-19 restrictions that will also be on their way out in the coming days.

Restrictions Removed – Information For Travelers

Despite being much smaller than most of its European neighbours, Cyprus typically performs well in terms of tourism. Prior to the pandemic, the country welcomed more than 4 million tourists per year, making it the sixth most visited country per capita of local population in the world. The pandemic all but ended travel to the country, with strict entry restrictions making a trip not all that palatable to travelers – but that could soon be set to change.

Just last night, the government of Cyprus made the announcement that the country would be removing all of its Covid-19 related entry restrictions, much to the delight of people in the country and travelers around the world. The removal of the current entry requirements will come into effect from June 1st, and will make travel into the country the same as it was prior to the pandemic.

The new changes mean that from June 1st, travelers will no longer be required to show proof of full vaccination against Covid-19, proof of recovery from the virus or a negative test result to enter the country. All travelers will need is a passport and a valid visa where applicable – just like how travel was in the good old days. The changes are for all travelers, regardless of their nationality or their country of origin. The need to fill out a passenger locator form was removed back in April.

The Cypriot government also made another significant announcement on Friday that will affect travelers heading into the country. From June 1st, the wearing of face masks will no longer be required in indoor areas – including airports – building on the previous changes that allowed travelers to go without them when outdoors. Whilst these are small changes, they make the idea of booking a vacation to the country far more appealing to travelers.

Travelers will still be required to wear face masks in medical-related places, such as hospitals and clinics, so visitors to the country should make sure to pack a few masks in their luggage just in case. According to Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos, the changes signal a return to normality for the island – a change that several other countries around the world have also been pivoting towards in recent months.

It’s been a good week as far as the easing of restrictions around the world is concerned, with more and more countries making it easier for travelers to enter once more. In Europe, the likes of Germany, Belgium and Austria have each removed their entry requirements, whilst several other destinations around the world such as Vietnam and Israel have also made it easier to visit.

The competition for budget transatlantic travel is increasing, and travelers are benefitting the most.

Norse Atlantic Airways—a new start-up company offering budget flights between Europe and the U.S.—have announced they will begin budget daily flights between New York City‘s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and London‘s Gatwick Airport (LGW).

The service will start on August 12, 2012, with $322 introductory fares for round trips. Anyone who’s ever traveled across the pond will know this is excellent value for money. In addition, one-way flights to London are as cheap as $116!

Norse Atlantic Airways will join Play Airlines in attempting to dominate budget travel over the Atlantic Ocean.

The New Flights Between NYC and London

    • The new flight route will depart from London at 1 p.m and arrive in New York at 3.55 p.m the same day (local time.)
    • The flight from New York will depart at 5.55 p.m and arrive in London at 6.20 a.m the next day (local time.)

All flights in London will arrive at London Gatwick Airport (LGW.) Traveling into Central London from London Gatwick Airport is very straightforward.

Although the airport is situated 29.5 miles south of Central London, the train will bring travelers to Victoria Station in Central London in under 30 minutes.

Other London airports include London Heathrow, London Stansted, and London Luton. You may fly to these airports with other airlines.

London is the best city in Europe for finding connecting flights to Mainland European destinations.

All flights arriving and departing from NYC will land at JFK airport

Norse Atlantic Airways has the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in a two-class configuration, including an economy class and a premium class with a 3-3-3 setup. Like other budget airlines, Norse Atlantic Airways will charge extra for seat selection, carry-on bags, and meals at the cheapest fares.

However, the fares still work out cheap for American and European travelers, especially if they pack light.

In addition to the NYC to London route, Norse Atlantic Airways will offer a limited-time service from August to late October between London Gatwick Airport and Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (OSL).

    What Has The Airline Said?

Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, said: “We are very pleased to now be able to welcome customers looking to book great value flights between London Gatwick and New York JFK. Customers now have an affordable option allowing them to book a last-minute trip or a holiday of a lifetime with an airline that offers choice and flexibility.

“The introduction of affordable Norse Atlantic Airways point-to-point flights between Europe and the United States will benefit both local tourism and businesses. Not only are we directly investing in the countries that we operate by employing local staff but also supporting job creation across the wider tourism and service industry.”

Stewart Wingate, CEO of Gatwick Airport, said: “We are delighted to welcome Norse Atlantic Airways to Gatwick. It’s always great to see a new tail on the airfield but the arrival of a new airline following the turbulent past two years for the industry, and one that will be offering fantastic long-haul routes across the Atlantic, is particularly exciting news.

“Passengers across London and the South East will now be able to benefit from another transatlantic service from Gatwick, with Norse offering excellent value for money for those flying out for a dream holiday, or important business trip, to New York, one of the world’s most famous and dynamic cities.”

    Final Thoughts

It’s excellent news for Americans and Europeans. The emergence of budget flights between the United Kingdom and the United States will boost travel numbers, increase affordability, and connect the two continents more.

It makes London and Europe an even better destination in August.

It’s been a good few months for travelers with an eye on traveling further afield, with scores of new routes added between the United States and Europe, and this latest addition is bound to be a hit. Here’s everything you need to know about the new flight services between the two cities, including which airline it is, how frequent the flights will be plus a recap of France’s current entry requirements.

New York To Paris Flights – Information for Travelers

Prior to the pandemic, Paris was one of the most popular destinations in the world, coming third to Bangkok and London when analyzing which cities welcomed the most travelers. A significant proportion of Paris’ arrivals are from the United States, with 6.2 million Americans taking the short hop across the Atlantic to take in sights such as the Eiffel Tower, Nôtre-Dame Cathedral and Disneyland Paris.

Yet whilst the pandemic may have reduced traveler numbers, it has hardly dampened attitudes towards travel, with Paris once more seen as a top destination this summer. As a result, Air France are teaming up with their fellow SkyTeam alliance member Delta to provide 9 daily flights between New York and Paris, giving travelers a wealth of options when it comes to travel between the two travel hotspots.

The flights will be between New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) in Paris. Flights are set to leave Charles-de-Gaulle at 8:30, 10:30, 11:30, 13:30, 14:30, 16:30, 18:30 and 19:30. Flights from JFK will take place in the afternoon onwards, with departures slated for 16:30, 17:30, 18:30, 19:30, 21:00, 22:00, 23:00 and 23:55.

Both airlines are using widebody jetliners for the routes, which – if full – could see more than 2,500 passengers pass between the two cities in a single day. Whilst Delta will be utilizing its Airbus A330 aircraft for the flights to Paris, those heading back to New York with Air France will be on Boeing 777-300 jets. Each flight will be available in at least three different classes, such as economy, premium economy and business class.

In order to enter France at present, vaccinated travelers must provide proof of vaccination but do not need to take a test beforehand. Unvaccinated travelers must provide a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours or an antigen test result taken within 48 hours pre-departure. Fortunately for travelers, France has removed its vaccine passport requirements, and has dropped its mask mandates in most situations – public transport and at a business’ discretion aside.

Whilst it may be more accessible now thanks to this increased connectivity, travel to Paris is set to cost travelers a fair chunk of change. Notorious for being an expensive destination to begin with, travelers will also have to contend with sky-high flight tickets and record hotel prices in Europe when booking their trips to the city. Fortunately for Americans, the strength of the dollar against the Euro should help to soften any financial outlay.

Are we in the early days of a new global health emergency? After several monkeypox outbreaks were registered across Europe this week, and Belgium going as far as imposing a strict 21-day quarantine for travelers with a confirmed infection, the CDC has now issued a travel warning to a number of destinations due to the emerging threat.

Monkeypox is a disease classed by the World Health Organization as being of ‘global public health importance‘. Although it mostly affects countries in West and Central Africa, it is also present in other parts of the world, and the identification of new clusters in Europe and North America, where it is not yet endemic, is worrying health experts.

CDC Formally Recognizes The New Global Health Threat

Adding weight to the other health warnings issued by countries like the UK, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – CDC has formally recognized monkeypox as a potentially disruptive pathogen, and emitted its own travel alert to a number of destinations in Europe and beyond. According to the CDC, cases have been reported in the following states:

    • Australia
    • Austria
    • Belgium
    • Canada
    • England
    • France
    • Germany
    • Israel
    • Italy
    • Netherlands
    • Portugal
    • Scotland
    • Spain
    • Sweden
    • Switzerland

Besides the above, monkeypox has already reached the United States as well, less than a month after the first infection clusters were identified in Europe. For that reason, the CDC has added the affected countries to the Level 2 category, stopping short of slapping a Level 3 travel warning due to monkeypox.

This means that, when traveling to all European countries listed, as well as Australia, Canada and Israel, U.S. citizens should now ‘practice enhanced precautions’ to avoid monkeypox. This is a first for these destinations, as monkeypox had been mostly limited to a number of African nations up until recently.

Out of the CDC-flagged countries, Belgium has been the first to act, enacting a mandatory 21-day quarantine requirement for travelers with a confirmed monkeypox infection. The ECDC, the European equivalent to the CDC, is also monitoring the situation closely, as the case count across Europe exceeds 100 – with a large concentration of those in Spain and Portugal.

Curiously, recent cases have not been linked to travel to Central or West African countries, ‘where monkeypox usually occurs’, such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Nigeria. This is a strong indication there is community transmission within Europe and North American continents.

LGBTQ+ Americans Should Exercise Increased Caution When Traveling From Now On

Corroborating other findings by health authorities in foreign countries, the CDC mentions a considerable portion of cases have been reported among men who have sex with men, as sexual interaction with an infected individual increases transmission dramatically. In fact, the first European clusters were likely spread by risky sexual behavior at 2 raves.

Because of early infection trends, gay travelers should exercise increased caution, considering Spain happens to be one of the safest destinations for them, and thus a leader in LGBTQ+ tourism. That said, anyone can be infected, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, as ‘cases were also reported in people live in the same household as an infected person’.

How Is Monkeypox Transmitted And What Does The CDC Now Advises?

All it takes is coming into close contact with a person with an active infection, and particularly visible rashes and scabs caused by the disease. It can also be transmitted via bodily fluids such as pus or blood from open lesions, which are common throughout the course of infection. Scientists have not yet established whether it can be passed on through semen.

While most patients will recover without any long-term complications, monkeypox scabs can leave scars behind once they fall off, and seriously disrupt travel plans. Following in the steps of Belgium, the Dominican Republic, one of the preferred vacation spots for Americans, has also issued a preventive alert due to monkeypox.

As the World Health Organization states, people are most infectious when they have symptoms, much like Covid, and ‘normally for between two and four weeks’. Touching clothing, bedding, towels and contaminated objects such as cutlery and dishes have been equally recognized as precursors to infection.

When visiting Spain, France, Portugal, or any other destination on the list, the CDC now advises travelers to avoid:

    • Close contact with sick people, particularly those with skin or genital lesions;
    • Touching any dead or live wild animals, such as rats, squirrels, monkeys and apes;
    • Handling all materials used by monkeypox-infected individuals as they could be contaminated.

Risk To The General Public Remains Low As Of Now

Despite the warnings, the CDC maintains that the ‘risk to the general public is low’. Regardless, travelers are advised to seek immediate medical attention when developing any known monkeypox symptoms. Those can manifest through fever, chills, tiredness and new, syphilis-like lesions on any part of the body.

The latest CDC advice deals a fresh blow to Europe, which only recently started reopening following the Covid crisis. While monkeypox is not a novel virus like Covid, it has the potential to spread quickly and trigger a new era of tightened health protocols for travelers. So far, the World Health Organization has not declared it a global health emergency.

Do you fancy a trip to Greece this summer? It just became far easier for Americans. Delta Airlines is teaming up with Greek carrier SKY Express to offer tourists connections across Greece and Cyprus.

The new partnership—which began on May 19, 2022—will allow tourists to fly on Delta airlines direct flights to Athens, Greece, before connecting to 34 famous places.

    These places include:

    • Mykonos
    • Santorini
    • Crete
    • Corfu

Delta also offers a record number of direct flights from the United States to Athens—including direct flights to Athens from NYC, Boston, and Atlanta.

    The Statement From The Airlines

Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s senior vice president of alliances, said: “Greece is one of the most sought-after destinations this summer for American travelers, and with trade and tourism flows increasing between our countries, Delta’s partnership with SKY express gives our customers more versatility when it comes to planning the perfect Greek getaway,”

“Customers will be able to hold a single Delta ticket and check their bags from North America all the way to their final destination, providing customers with a seamless service to some of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean,” he added.

SKY Express operates A320neo and ATR 72600 aircraft. Delta said this “suited to the geographical environment of the Greek islands.”

In addition, Yiannis Lidakis, the commercial director of SKY express, said: “With one of the youngest fleets and an unrivaled network, this arrangement with Delta will allow customers across the U.S. to connect to the magical charm of the Greek islands,”

Which U.S Airports Will Delta Fly From?

Delta will have regular flights to Greece from Atlanta, Boston, New York-JFK, etc. As a result, U.S. tourists can fly directly to Greece instead of flying to another destination in Europe, such as the United Kingdom, then connecting to Greece.

However, the connecting flights offered by Delta and SKY Express to popular Greek island resorts from Athens are superb for U.S. tourists.

As most Greek islands don’t have international airports—even some popular ones—it can be a headache traveling to the Greek islands from outside Europe. During COVID-19 and the subsequent lack of flights, it sometimes took Americans three flights to visit Santorini and Mykonos.

This news takes away much of the stress of visiting Greece’s beautiful islands

    What Are Greece’s Entry Requirements?

Greece has removed all COVID-19 entry requirements. Therefore, U.S. travelers can visit the nation without testing, mandatory quarantine, proof of vaccination, and passenger locator forms.

Greece has also removed its mask mandate and all other internal restrictions. Greece is completely back to normal for U.S. visitors.

Although Greece reopened its borders in 2020, entry restrictions were still challenging for two years. Until recently, the nation also had a mandatory vaccine passport for almost all indoor venues, which made Greece highly challenging for unvaccinated tourists.

Other Airlines Who Fly Directly To Greece

Thankfully, Delta Airlines isn’t the only airline offering direct flights to Greece this summer.

These airlines also offer direct flights from the United States to Greece:

    • Emirates: Emirates will fly directly to Athens from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) this summer. The total flight time will be 9 hours and 10 minutes. Travelers can then arrange their transportation to the islands.
    • American Airlines: American Airlines will fly directly to Athens from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) this summer. The total flight time will be 10 hours and 20 minutes. American Airlines will also fly directly to Athens from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) this summer, with a total flight time of 9 hours and 30 minutes.
    • Air Canada: Canadians can fly directly from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Athens this summer. The total flight time is 9 hours.
    • United Airlines: United Airlines will fly directly to Athens from Dulles International Airport (IAD) this summer. The total flight time is 9 hours and 45 minutes.

    Final Thoughts

Greece is one of the best destinations for Americans in 2021. As the nation grows in popularity, more and more flights from North America are heading to Greece directly.

Stay tuned for more information on flights to Europe this summer!

Wyndham Launches New App Feature To Help Travelers Plan Road Trips

After staying at home during the pandemic for two years, travelers want to go out and explore the world. They have been planning more road trips than ever and many businesses in the travel industry know it. This is why the American hotel company Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is launching a new feature called “Road Trip Planner”.

The new mobile app feature, integrated with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts app, helps travelers plan their next road trip and includes interactive tools that allow users to book hotels, choose from different itineraries and discover new travel opportunities.

According to the information provided by the company in the press release, recent research for their American Road Trip Index revealed that 80% of Americans are planning to take a road trip in 2022, but 66% feel overwhelmed and don’t know how to plan it.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts —considered the largest hotel franchise in the world with hotels in more than 95 countries and over 6,000 in the United States— wants to provide a technological solution for travelers.

Jessica Davidson, senior vice president, digital, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts said: “With thousands of hotels across our country’s highways and byways and 22 trusted brands, there is no company better positioned to help travelers experience the road trip of their dreams.”

And added: “With Road Trip Planner, travelers enter a few details about the trip and instantly get an itinerary with all their hotel stops, bookable in one single transaction. It not only eases the stresses of travel planning but ensures the journey is as exciting as the destination.”

It is not the only business that considered Americans’ increasing interest in road trip travel. Even Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner recently launched an app called HearHere to reproduce audio with historical information related to the user’s current geolocation.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts proposes an option that includes their popular brands —such as Days Inn, Super 8, Microtel, Baymont, La Quinta, Howard Johnson, and Travelodge— to provide “The Easiest Way to Book & Go” as their service mark states.

    More About Road Trip Planner

The new digital platform will allow travelers to plan, create and book trips and multiple hotel stays at once. It offers features for different kinds of travel, from coastal road trips to national parks road trips to long-haul truckers’ itineraries.

Road Trip Planner will be integrated into Wyndham Hotels & Resorts app, created two years ago —which allows users to quickly book rooms in nearby hotels with the feature Lightning Book and check-in and check-out from the phone.

“Built upon the success and strong adoption of our mobile app, Road Trip Planner is the perfect complement to Lightning Book, which is our fastest way to book direct and enables guests to reserve a hotel in just a few taps. Now, whatever your travel preferences—be it booking last minute or planning far ahead—Wyndham has you covered. Summer, here we come!”, said Davidson.

These are the main features included in the platform:

    • Custom itineraries: Travelers can discover itinerary alternatives from location A to destination B and filter search considering the driving distance, pet-friendly locations, or preferred brands and amenities.
    • Recommended routes: after mapping a route, the app intelligence can recommend the best itinerary according to the user’s travel preferences.
    • Reservations details: travelers can view multiple reservations and make requests or lock up amenities before arriving.
    • Pay your way: the app offers different payment options, including cash and Wyndham Rewards points.

This new feature can be a great alternative for different kinds of travelers —from those who prefer carefully planned itineraries to more spontaneous voyagers—, considering that it also offers different kinds of hotel experiences. But, it is especially useful for those looking to stay at economy and midscale hotels in the United States.

During summer, road trippers will have more options to plan, book, schedule, and take advantage of technology on their next adventure.
