More American cities are now connected to Frankfurt, a top destination for adventurous travelers who want to explore Europe

The German carrier Condor recently announced new nonstop flights from Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco to Frankfurt. The first new route will depart from New York on May 6.

Condor Flugdienst, Germany’s second-largest carrier, also announced that it will resume other services connecting the United States to Germany. The company will reactivate its suspended flights from Portland, Phoenix, Boston, Minneapolis, and Baltimore.

According to the information shared at The Points Guy, it’s been 2 years since the company stopped offering these routes due to the pandemic. Recently, Condor also reactivated its services from Seattle, Fairbanks, Las Vegas, and Anchorage.

Condor is anticipating seasonal demands and has been preparing, not only with the addition of new routes and resuming services this summer, but also with rebranding strategies. The carrier wants to stand out as the main vacation to Germany option, and recently painted its fleet with color stripes inspired by beach towels, beach chairs, and parasols.

The carrier’s efforts to compete in the market will bring more options to American passengers. Now that vaccinated US tourists can enter Germany without testing, travelers can explore Germany as a summer destination or connection to different locations across the world.

    About The Itineraries And Prices

Condor Airlines operates in different airports in the US and has been serving this country since 1970. These are the main cities from where the carrier offers direct flights to Europe:

    • New York (JFK)
    • Los Angeles (LAX)
    • San Francisco (SFO
    • Anchorage (ANC)
    • Fairbanks (FAI)
    • Seattle (SEA)

They also offer connecting alternatives with partners —such as JetBlue and Alaska Airlines— from Boston, Las Vegas, Baltimore-Washington, Minneapolis, Portland, and Phoenix.

New York will be Condor’s first connection to Frankfurt starting on May 6. Travelers can board direct flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and could book one-way tickets for as low as $200.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) already informed on Twitter about Condor airline connecting this city to Frankfurt. The airline will serve three non-stop flights on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays starting on May 24.

According to the information shared on Condor’s website, direct flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Frankfurt start at $350, and travelers can even find promotional prices like $280 on Economy for the inaugural flight.

Starting on May 19, American travelers can also book tickets from San Francisco to Frankfurt departing on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, starting at $290 one way on Economy.

Condor’s seasonal service between Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Frankfurt will resume on June 4. The airline will offer direct flights three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, starting at $240 per service.

    Frankfurt Travel Opportunities

Having more options connecting the United States to Frankfurt, the carrier’s hub, is great news for American travelers. Condor offers 10 domestic services and 80 international destinations from this location to 33 countries.

Frankfurt is one of the busiest airports in Europe—it’s also known as the “Gateway to Europe”— and offers passengers incredible connecting opportunities to different destinations.

From Frankfurt Airport, passengers have multiple alternatives. They could travel to many other cities in Europe, Africa, and Asia. This German airport offers travelers direct flights to close destinations like Rome, Paris, London, Madrid, Lisbon, Dublin, and Budapest; and further, like Cape Town, Singapore, Cairo, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Hong Kong, and even Tokyo.

While in Frankfurt am Main, travelers can also enjoy and explore this city. Travelers will get to see impressive buildings, a fascinating architectural mix, and beautiful skylines. Among its main attractions, travelers can visit Goethe’s house —and see what the life of the poet looked like—, the museum Städel, or take a cruise and sail across the Main river to get a different perspective of this vibrant city.

Kicking off its highly anticipated tourist season, Bulgaria will be joining other European countries in removing all Covid entry requirements for foreign visitors ahead of summer. Once it officially scraps all remaining restrictions on May 1, this Eastern European country will become the 37th in the world to have done so, and immediately after nearby Albania.

Like many of its European siblings, Bulgaria clamped down hard on tourism during the Covid crisis. By enacting several different entry curbs throughout 2020 and 2021, at one time including a ban on all U.S. visitors, it saw its booming tourism industry reach all-time lows as travelers started avoiding overly strict countries altogether.

However, as other nations move toward treating Covid as endemic and adapting to the virus, Bulgaria has decided it is now time to follow suit and rebuild its reputation as a tourist-friendly destination:

Bulgaria Scraps All Restrictions Starting May 1

Up until recently, anyone seeking entry into Bulgaria had to observe a number of requirements, ranging from holding a valid vaccination certificate when fully immunized to undergoing Covid testing prior to entering. Some vaccinated passengers were also subject to testing, especially when arriving from the so-called Dark Red Zones.

Although those measures were certainly an improvement over the blanket bans imposed during the peak of Omicron, they still discouraged millions of travelers from visiting, especially those who are not vaccinated and feel somewhat targeted by specific restrictions.

Now, Bulgaria’s era of health screening of foreign arrivals has come to an end.

Starting May 1, 2022, American, Canadian and British visitors will only need a passport and the usual pre-pandemic travel documentation to visit this country, as confirmed by Asena Serbezova, the Bulgarian Minister of Health. While the pandemic-era EU Digital Covid Certificate will not be discontinued, it will no longer be a prerequisite for travelers arriving in Bulgaria.

In summary, entry in Bulgaria is again possible for both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated under the same rules, as there are:

    • No testing before arrival
    • No testing upon or after landing
    • No quarantines, even for the unvaccinated
    • No proof of vaccination
    • No countries banned due to variants of concern or number of cases
    • No Passenger Locator Forms to fill out

How Safe A Destination Is Bulgaria Right Now?

Back in April 1, the Balkan country also ended a nationwide State of Emergency following two years of Covid, which meant all remaining mandates, including indoor mask usage and social distancing were lifted.

To put it simply, Bulgaria is now back to what it was in 2019, prior to the viral surge, and all travelers enjoy frictionless entry again.

Cases have also been dropping consistently, with the country currently reporting an average of 60 infections per 100,000 people over the last week, or only 7% of the peak. As for vaccination rates, Bulgaria’s are among the lowest in Europe, as only 31.4% of the population is fully immunized, in stark contrast with fellow EU members such as France, Germany, and Ireland, which have all attained vaccination rates of over 60%.

Still, the country has not experienced viral rebounds since infections reached an all-time high in mid-January, even after a new variant of concern was identified in Europe. Despite the general recommendation that countries only enter an endemic phase once broad vaccination coverage is achieved, Bulgaria seems ready to bring forth the process.

Bulgaria – One Of The Most Underrated Countries In Europe?

Once a relatively obscure country in Eastern Europe, Bulgaria has set out on a path to become a distinct summer destination as strong as neighboring Greece or Turkey in recent years. With an extensive Black Sea coastline, it offers tourists both sandy beaches and seaside resorts at much cheaper rates, as well as countless cultural and historical attractions.

Sunny Beach, one of the Bulgarian Riviera’s rising stars, has just been named the second most affordable summer destination in Europe. As it is not in the Eurozone, prices are much lower than the EU average, with travelers spending an average of only USD 33.78 per day when visiting Bulgaria.

On the other hand, other EU countries like Spain and France, which are both in the Eurozone, expect visitors to have a minimum of 100 euros in spending money per day.

Popular attractions in Bulgaria also include:

    • Sofia, its Soviet-influenced capital
    • The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
    • Plovdiv, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe
    • The Rila Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
    • The Seven Rila Lakes
    • The Tsarevets Fortress, one of the largest in the Balkans
    • The Black Sea Coast, including the historical cities of Varna and Burgas

When visiting Bulgaria, travelers are advised to follow their own country’s recommendations regarding safety and health measures. U.S. citizens are also reminded that, although Bulgaria has no entry requirements in place, pre-departure Covid testing is still required when returning to the United States from abroad.

The carrier is celebrating its first anniversary —it was launched just a few days before its competitor Breeze Airways— and also announced that it will be opening a third base at Orlando International Airport (MCO)

To celebrate this accomplishment, the carrier is offering ultra-low promotional one-way fares, starting at $29, including taxes and fees! But travelers must book soon, the anniversary fares are limited and expire on May 5. Andrew Levy —Avelo Airlines Founder, Chairman, and CEO— said, “Avelo is poised for continued growth as we add more planes, more Crew Members, more destinations, and more bases — including our new base in Orlando. I’m very appreciative of the warm reception The Sunshine State has greeted Avelo with since we began flying here last November. I’m looking forward to the positive economic and community impact Avelo will make in Orlando and across Florida as we increase our investment here in the years ahead.”

As part of their celebration, Avelo Airlines is currently promoting its “1 Year Anniversary Sweepstake” in which customers can win one year of free flights for two. Travelers interested in participating must follow the airline on Instagram and tag two friends in the comments. All details and rules are available on the company’s official site.

For being an airline not many have heard of, Avelo actually has quite an impressive route system, and it’s still growing.

Located on the east coast, New Jersey may not be as overwhelmingly iconic as its neighbor New York, but there’s still plenty to do in this state! Here are 10 off-the-beaten-path suggestions for your 2022 trip to Jersey.

    1. Rent A Swan Boat At Wesley Lake

Head over to Asbury Park’s Wesley Lake to enjoy an afternoon on the water. The lake offers pedal boat rentals for $20 for a half-hour ride, and is set to open for this year’s season on April 16th – just in time for an upcoming trip to New Jersey.

    2. Island Beach State Park

New Jersey may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of getting back to nature, but the state does offer several opportunities for this. One such opportunity is Island Beach State Park, a barrier island stretching 10 miles. This state park is a great spot for hiking, kayaking, and – during the warmer months – swimming.

    3. Check Out A Local Amusement Park

Here’s a great option for families with kids! Diggerland is an amusement park in West Berlin, New Jersey with a memorable draw. Kids aren’t the only ones who will have fun at this amusement park – in addition to offering some of the more usual amusement park offerings, they also offers guests the opportunity to try their hand at driving life-size construction vehicles. If you visit during the summer months, Diggerland features a waterpark as well.

    4. Explore Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

This expanse of wilderness straddles Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is a great option for those looking to enjoy some of the serenity of nature. Not only is the area home to several hiking trails, it’s also home to several waterfalls that are gorgeous to take in.

    5. Check Out Yankee Doodle Tap Room

Head over to Princeton, New Jersey to enjoy a drink at this historic landmark. Yankee Doodle Tap Room has been a long-loved staple of the area and holds the title of Princeton’s oldest taproom.

    6. Visit Lucy The Elephant

Lucy The Elephant is a classic roadside attraction located in Margate City. Even if you aren’t on a road trip, though, this is still a fun attraction to visit. Lucy is a six-story tall elephant statue. While you can usually go inside the statue, the interior is currently closed for construction. You can still view the looming elephant structure from the outside, though, or check out the gift shop.

    7. Watch The Sunset

Sunset Beach may not live up to Jersey shore stereotypes of partying and drinks, but it does live up to its namesake of being an excellent spot to watch the setting sun. Located in Cape May, this is an especially great option for couples thanks to its dreamy atmosphere.

    8. Enjoy A Drink At The 1933 Room

This speakeasy-themed bar will have you feeling like you’ve stepped into another era! The 1933 Room features a unique ambiance as well as great drinks – everything one looks for in a bar. Currently open Thurs-Saturday, the bar is located on the upper level of the Verve Restaurant.

Head over to Asbury Park, New Jersey to check out Silverball Pinball Museum. This retro spot is home to various classic pinball and arcade games. It also features a bar, as well as live entertainment on select nights.

    10. Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge

New Jersey was once home to countless covered bridges. Nowadays, Green Sargeant’s covered bridge is one of the last historic structures of its kind still standing. Located in Hunterdon County, the bridge was constructed in 1872. Now over a century old, it still stands tall over the Wickecheoke bridge.

  • The Most Recent Changes In Southeast Asia Travelers Need To Know For May

The Most Recent Changes In Southeast Asia Travelers Need To Know For May

    [ad_1]

    Share The Article

    Last Updated

A hugely popular part of the world for both backpackers and luxury holidaymakers alike, Southeast Asia has struggled over the past couple of years as its once-strict entry requirements decimated the levels of tourism that the region had grown accustomed to.

Today however, the situation is markedly different from how it was at the start of the pandemic, with various entry restrictions being lifted across Southeast Asia on an almost weekly basis.

Now, travel to Southeast Asia is now more accessible than it has been at any other point over the last two years, for both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers alike, with many of these changes just happening in May.

Here’s a look at the most recent changes to the entry requirements of various Southeast Asian nations, plus an overview of the current entry restrictions and requirements that travelers should know for other countries in the region.

    Malaysia

Malaysia is another Southeast Asian country that is set to make several changes to its entry requirements from May 1st. From May 1st, Malaysia will:

    • Remove both pre-departure and on-arrival Covid-19 test requirements for vaccinated travelers
    • Remove all social distancing requirements
    • Remove its outdoor mask mandate
    • Remove the Covid-19 insurance requirement
    • Remove the need to check-in to premises with the MySejahtera app

Travelers who are not fully vaccinated will be required to take an RT-PCR test two days before departure and a supervised RTK-Ag test within 24 hours of arrival, as well as quarantine for five days. Nightclubs are set to be able to reopen from May 15th.

    Thailand

Thailand’s entry requirements have changed a lot over the past few months, and next month will see them face their most significant easing yet. From May 1st:

    • Vaccinated travelers will no longer need to take a test upon arrival
    • Vaccinated travelers will not need to pre-book a hotel for their first night
    • The mandatory travel insurance coverage amount will be lowered to $10,000 for all travelers

From May 1st, unvaccinated travelers face two options.

Those who do not take a test before departure will be required to register for a Thailand Pass with a 5-day quarantine hotel booking. After these five days of quarantine, they will need to take a PCR test on Day 5 in order to be able to leave.

Alternatively, those who upload proof of a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travel via the Thailand Pass system will be allowed to enter and move freely – like vaccinated travelers.

All travelers must still apply for the Thailand Pass in order to be able to enter the country.

    Singapore

Just this week, Singapore altered its entry restrictions so that fully vaccinated travelers will no longer need to undergo any Covid-19 testing to enter Singapore. With on-arrival testing already removed, that means travelers can now enter Singapore completely test-free. That means that the only requirements remaining for travelers visiting Singapore are:

    • show proof of their vaccination status – which can be verified online prior to traveling
    • complete an online SG Arrival Card prior to departure
    • download the TraceTogether application
    • purchase travel insurance which covers any Covid-19 medical expenses.

Unvaccinated travelers are currently unable to enter Singapore.

Lion Fountain In Singapore, South East Asia

    Cambodia

Cambodia removed its testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers in March, meaning that vaccinated travelers from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom can now enter without any Covid-19 testing or quarantine requirements. Easy!

Whilst unvaccinated travelers may still enter, they will need to quarantine for 7 days upon arrival into the country – with the location designated by the Cambodian Ministry of Health – and must undergo a Covid-19 PCR test on day 7 of their quarantine. Unvaccinated travelers must prove they hold $2000 in cash to cover any quarantine expenses.

    Bali

Travelers to Bali above the age of 18 must be fully vaccinated. A PCR test must be taken 48 hours before departure, as well as upon arrival into Bali. Mandatory insurance is required, along with a return ticket and, of course, the correct visa type where necessary. Fully-vaccinated travelers do not need to quarantine.

Want to know what it’s currently like to visit Bali right now? One of our writers entered a few days ago and is giving readers an on-the-ground glimpse.

    Vietnam

Vietnam boasts some of the easiest entry requirements in Southeast Asia. The country does not require visitors to present a Covid-19 vaccine certificate, or certificate showing proof of recovery when entering the country. In order to enter, travelers must either:

    • take a Covid-19 RT-PCR or RT-LAMP test no more than three days (72 hours) prior to departure, OR;
    • take a Covid-19 rapid antigen test no more than one day (24 hours) prior to departure.

Travelers must also purchase health insurance that covers Covid-19 medical expenses.

    Philippines

To enter the Philippines, travelers must take either an RT-PCR test taken within 48 hours of departing from their country of origin or a laboratory-administered antigen/ART test taken 24 hours prior to departure from the country of origin. Travelers must also fill out the e-Health Declaration Card online and register for the health pass, as well as have travel insurance with a minimum coverage amount of U.S.$35,000. Travelers must also be vaccinated against Covid-19, with valid proof of vaccination.

Malaysia has removed all of its Covid-19 testing requirements for fully vaccinated visitors entering the country – from May 1.

Other mandatory requirements for travelers – some of which also apply to Malaysian residents – are also being removed from the same date.

What Are The Current Entry Requirements For Vaccinated Travelers Entering Malaysia?

Kek Lok Si Temple on Penang island, Georgetown, Malaysia

Since reopening for tourism at the beginning of this month – April – fully vaccinated visitors have been able to enter Malaysia by adhering to the following entry requirements:

    • present proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 – with visitors required to upload the details of their vaccination to the MySafeTravel website
    • download and register your details on the Malaysian government’s MySejahtera application
    Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
    • complete a digital pre-departure form on the MySejahtera application
    • purchase travel health insurance – which must cover you for up to US$20,000 for any medical costs relating to Covid-19
    • undertake a Covid-19 PCR test within 48 hours prior to traveling to Malaysia – with a requirement to upload your test results to the MySejahtera application
    • undertake a professional Covid-19 Rapid-Antigen test within 24 hours of arriving in Malaysia.
    Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

And, inside the country, all travelers – along with Malaysian nationals and residents – are currently required to check themselves in when entering public places – which includes shops, restaurants, bars, hotels and all forms of public transport.

This is done using the MySehajtera application.

Malaysia Is Removing Most Of Its Covid-Related Entry Requirements For Vaccinated Travelers – From 1 May

In just a matter of days – starting on 1 May – entry to Malaysia for fully vaccinated travelers is set to become extremely simple, with only the following entry requirements remaining:

    • show proof of full vaccination – including uploading your details to the MySafeTravel website
    • download and register your details on the Malaysian government’s MySejahtera application
    • complete a digital pre-departure form on the MySejahtera application.

Therefore, there is no longer the requirement to undertake any testing for Covid-19 – both prior to your departure and upon arrival.

You can find out how Malaysia defines an individual as being ‘fully vaccinated’ against Covid-19 by clicking here.

The same entry requirements also apply to individuals under the age of 12 – whether the child has received their full Covid vaccination or not – as well as those who have recovered from Covid-19 within 6 to 60 days prior to their planned departure to Malaysia.

The requirement to constantly check in – using the MySejahtera app – to indoor public areas, such as shops, restaurants, bars, hotels, and all forms of public transport, will also no longer be mandatory.

What About The Entry Requirements For Unvaccinated Visitors – Are These Set To Change?

For visitors who have not received their full vaccination against Covid-19, there is still a requirement for such travelers to undertake a professional PCR or Rapid-Antigen test within two days of their departure to Malaysia.

The requirement for unvaccinated visitors to undertake a professional Rapid-Antigen test within 24 hours of their arrival will also remain – along with the mandatory 5-day quarantine, which also requires further Covid-19 testing on day 4 or 5.

The need to download and register on the MySejhatera application – as well as the requirement to complete a digital pre-departure – also remains mandatory for unvaccinated visitors.

There is, however – as is the case for fully vaccinated travelers – no longer a mandatory requirement for unvaccinated individuals to purchase Covid-related travel health insurance prior to entering Malaysia.

Outdoor Mask Mandate And Other Internal Covid-Related Restrictions Are Set To Be Removed

From 1 May, Malaysia’s mandatory outdoor mask mandate will cease to exist – with people only required to wear a face covering when inside indoor public areas, including all forms of public transport.

On the same day, those that are unvaccinated will once again be allowed to enter restaurants, as well as shopping malls – and physical distancing measures will also be removed.

And, the mandatory requirement for everyone to scan a QR code – in order to check in – upon entry to public places will no longer be enforced, and instead become optional for individuals.

Colombia and Malta Will Officially Remove Their Mask Mandates

    Last Updated

Colombia and Malta are set to officially remove their indoor mask mandates in just a few days. The two countries look set to be the latest destinations around the world to remove their indoor mask mandates, joining the likes of Spain and Portugal who also eased their mask policies last week.

The move will undoubtedly make the idea of visiting Colombia and Malta much more appealing for some travelers, as the list of countries with a mask mandate still in effect continues to shrink.

Dropping the mask mandate looks to have come at just the right time, with a bumper summer of travel expected over the next few months, Here’s a look at both Colombia and Malta’s decision to drop their indoor mask mandate, including why the decision has been taken, when the new rules are set to come into effect and what the entry requirements are for both of these countries at present.

Colombia Removes Mask Mandate – Information For Travelers

Colombia’s decision to repeal its indoor mask mandate was announced by the country’s President Ivan Duque, on Monday. The change is set to come into effect from May 1st, and will see people in Colombia no longer having to wear a mask in places such as bars, restaurants and shops – but the change will only apply to municipalities that have more than 70% of their population fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

There are set to be exceptions to the rules, with masks still required to be worn in “care homes, hospitals and clinics, public transport and enclosed spaces at educational facilities,” according to the President. Colombia is also set to scrap its proof of vaccination requirement for entry into bars, restaurants, and large events from May 1st, as the country takes a huge stride back towards normality – a move that should see the country continue to grow in popularity

In order to enter Colombia, travelers that are fully vaccinated will need to show proof, but will not need to take a test in order to enter – providing their vaccination occurred more than 14 days ago.

As of May 1, 2022, unvaccinated travelers will be allowed to once again enter Colombia providing they bring a 72-hour PCR or 48-hour antigen test.

Malta Drops Masks – What Travelers Should Know

According to Malta’s official tourism website, the country is set to drop the use of face masks – both indoors and outdoors – from May 2nd, making the experience of vacations in Malta almost the same as they were before the pandemic. As well as dropping the mask-wearing requirement, Malta is also set to remove the requirement for travelers to fill in a Passenger Locator Form prior to travel, with that change also coming from May 2nd.

Of course, like several other countries that have repealed their mask mandates, there are some circumstances in which travelers will still be required to wear masks in the country. These include on flights and in healthcare establishments, such as hospitals and care homes.

In order to be able to enter Malta at present, American and Canadian travelers must be able to show proof of vaccination, proof of recovery, or a negative test result. This must be a PCR test, with the results obtained no more than 72 hours before arrival. Until May 2nd, a Passenger Locator Form will also need to be submitted prior to arriving in the country.
