United flight evacuated after teen AirDropped photo of air gun

 

 

A teen precipitated a United Airlines flight to be evacuated after he AirDropped a picture of a gun to different passengers. Passengers had been far away from the aircraft and rescreened, NBC Bay Area reported. It was decided that the picture wasn’t new, and the gun wasn’t within the teenager’s possession.

A United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Orlando was evacuated on Thursday after a young person despatched a photo of an airsoft gun to different passengers on the aircraft.

United Airlines Flight 2167 was getting ready to go away the gate at San Francisco International Airport when a number of passengers obtained the picture of a duplicate weapon through Apple’s AirDrop characteristic, airport spokesperson Doug Yakel advised the media outlet.

The pilot introduced a “threat on board” after a number of complaints had been made to flight attendants, in keeping with SF Gate.

The passengers had been far away from the aircraft, rescreened “out of an abundance of caution,” and the plane was inspected, Yakel mentioned.

It was decided that the picture of the airsoft gun was taken at a previous date and that {the teenager} didn’t have the imitation firearm in his possession, the spokesperson added.

The aircraft was then cleared for reboarding, NBC Bay Area reported. The teenager was not allowed to get again on the aircraft, the media outlet mentioned.

The airport’s flight tracker confirmed the aircraft was scheduled to take off at 2 p.m. native time, in keeping with Newsweek. The flight was delayed by virtually three hours and didn’t take off till almost 5 p.m., the media outlet reported.

A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed that the flight was “delayed due to a security issue involving a customer on board,” SF Gate reported.

“Law enforcement officials were notified, and our teams are working with them to review this matter,” the assertion mentioned.
