We know winter has barely started, and we’re only just getting cozy in our homes as we impatiently wait for the holidays, but there’s enough reasons already to look forward to July 2023. Months ahead of time, American Airlines (AA) has unveiled its long-awaited summer schedule, which includes the relaunch of 7 popular long haul routes.

After two years of border closures, the world has finally reopened for tourism. Understandably, demand for international travel, especially among Americans, has skyrocketed. As a result, flights that had been suspended in the early days of Covid, or even prior to the health crisis, are finally making a comeback:

It’s been a busy year for American Airlines, as the carrier undergoes profound changes and tries to adjust to the new market dynamics. Besides reforming its First Class, and ordering 20 supersonic jets for shorter Transatlantic flights, the carrier is now reinstating service to highly sought-after destinations abroad.

In total, 7 flight routes are relaunching in time for summer 2023, some of which for the first time in three or more years:

American Airlines Is Rebuilding Network Following Covid

Out of those, four routes are already operational this winter, as seen on flight tracker Cirium. The remaining two, namely Charlotte to Paris, and Dallas-Forth Worth to Tokyo, are scheduled to resume from June. It’s been a long time coming: France and Japan are both tourism powerhouses, having drawn tens of millions of annual tourists in the pre-pandemic era.

Their numbers decreased drastically between 2020 and early 2022, mostly due to strict border controls and, in Japan’s and Australia’s case, an outright ban on all international travel. Interestingly, all other destinations on the list enacted pretty stringent rules rules that were only loosened in recent months.

During 2020 and well into 2021, the U.K. went through successive lockdowns and other curbs on social life and tourism, before finally reopening fully in early 2022. In line with the U.K. and the rest of Europe, Germany severely restricted travel as well, blocking the entry of non-immunized individuals until June 2022.

Naturally, American Airlines was forced to withdraw from these hubs until so,e sense of normality was achieved. Still, revitalizing services to Paris, Tokyo, Santiago, Chile, London, and Germany’s mega-hub of Frankfurt remained crucial for the rebuilding of American Airlines’ network, which had shrunk considerably in the wake of Covid.

With the exception of Chile, all of the above destinations have since lifted all restrictions. Japan is the latest to have done so in early October, in a move that prompted several airlines to resume Tokyo flights, American included. Traveling to six out of the seven countries, U.S. citizens are exempt from disclosing vaccination status or undergoing testing.

New Domestic Routes Launching

On top of relaunching these long-haul operations, the carrier announced further expansion with a slew of new domestic flights from its La Guardia base in New York. Starting May 2023, customers will enjoy new direct links to Birmingham, Alabama (BH), Buffalo, New York (BUF), Grand Rapids, Michigan (GRR), and many more.

Lastly, 4 other routes are getting a frequency boost beginning in April:
- Dallas-Fort Worth, TX (DFW) – Paris, France (CDG)
- Dallas-Forth Worth, TX (DFW) – Rome, Italy (FCO)
- Miami, FL (MIA) – London, United Kingdom (LHR)
- Miami, FL (MIA) – Sao Paulo, Brazil (GRU)
They are yet confirmed how many more flights are being added, but it’s definitely going to be a busy summer for AA as it re-enters the competition in some of the world’s most profitable markets. Frontier Airlines Adds New National And International Routes With Fares Starting At $69

Ready to fly to great destinations for a very low price? Frontier Airlines is expanding its network and recently announced new national and international routes. Travelers will get more low-cost options for exciting and practical terminals starting services right away.

Through multiple press releases, the American ultra-low-cost carrier explained the new services and shared the introductory fares for customers. These are the main routes announced:
- From Atlanta to Nassau, San Salvador, and Kingston with introductory fares starting at $99.
- From Chicago Midway to Miami and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood starting at $69.
- From Denver to West Palm Beach starting at $69.
- From Orlando to Guadalajara starting at $109.
The introductory fares are valid for non-stop travel, will be available until November 10 at midnight, are subject to availability, and blackout dates apply. Travelers must carefully read all terms and conditions, and book fast.

Just a few weeks ago, Frontier also announced non-stop flights to Jamaica. With these new routes now Americans have more options to enjoy the warm weather in Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean for Fall and Winter.

From Atlanta

Frontier will be serving 37 destinations from Atlanta by the end of the month. Besides these three new routes, the carrier will add San José in Costa Rica as a destination within the next few days.

Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial at Frontier Airlines, said: “Frontier Airlines is thrilled to become the second largest international carrier at ATL—and the only ultra-low fare carrier providing international service from Atlanta.”

These are the main details of the new routes, from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to:
- Nassau, Bahamas (NAS): route started on November 5, serving passengers once a week with introductory fares starting at $99.
- San Salvador, El Salvador (SAL): route started on November 6, serving passengers twice a week with introductory fares starting at $119.
- Kingston, Jamaica (KIN): route started on November 7, serving passengers twice a week with introductory fares starting at $99.

The new non-stop service from Chicago to Miami—one of the most popular destinations in the U.S. right now—, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood. Shruz stated: “South Florida is a popular wintertime escape for Chicagoans. Getting there is now a whole lot easier thanks to Frontier’s ‘Low Fares Done Right.’”

These are the main details of the new routes, from Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) to:
- Miami (MIA): route started on November 5 and will serve passengers 5 times a week, with introductory fares starting at just $69.

Frontier Announced 10 New Routes In Phoenix With Fares Starting At $19

The American low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has recently announced in a press release 10 new services from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) in November 2022 and January 2023.

To celebrate the new routes, the carrier will offer fares for as low as $19. With the new routes, Frontier will be serving a total of 22 domestic flights from Phoenix.

These are the 10 new destinations:
- Philadelphia (PHL)
- Baltimore-Washington (BWI)
- Orange County California (SNA)
- Seattle-Tacoma (SEA)
- Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP)
- Portland, Oregon (PDX)
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL)

Barry Biffle, president and CEO of Frontier Airlines, expressed feeling proud about the company’s expansion in Phoenix: “This major expansion of service from PHX solidifies Frontier’s place as one of Phoenix’s largest airlines”

Biffle also added: “We’re thrilled to offer these new routes serving some of the most popular destinations in America. Our commitment to future growth at PHX is strong as we prepare to open our new crew base in November and introduce this expanded array of convenient, affordable flight options for Phoenix-area consumers.”

With these new domestic flights, travelers will have more low-cost options to explore American landmarks and top destinations within the United States. To take advantage of the super cheap non-stop flights, travelers must purchase them soon. The introductory fares expire on August 30 at midnight. Prices are subject to availability and travelers must remember to carefully read the terms and conditions.

More Details About The New Routes

Phoenix, the 5th largest city in the United States, is attracting travelers for business and tourism. Travelers shouldn’t be afraid of the heat, since there are many attractions and things to do in this city.

Local authorities are also excited about Frontier’s expansion. Upgrades Go A Long Way For Long-Hauls

Long-haul flights are a different kind of flying experience. Hence, they require a different approach to make the trip as comfortable as possible. Firstly, if there was ever a time to upgrade to a higher flying class, it’s for flights like the ones above. Most travelers don’t upgrade to business or first class, especially for shorter flights. Indeed, the cost vs. benefit for shorter flights often doesn’t make it worth upgrading. However, if you’re going to be on a plane for almost 19 hours, upgrading in any way is going to make the whole experience much nicer.

Some airlines, such as Singapore Airlines, offer suites with a personal lounge chair and lie-flat bed, albeit with a hefty price tag (Over $9,000 one way from JFK to SIN). For the other 99% of travelers, it’s probably more realistic to pay an additional fee for a seat with more legroom. After 10+ hours of sitting in a cramped economy seat, paying extra for more legroom will sound more and more enticing.

Sleep Smart

An extra-long-haul flight typically entails a significant time change. In fact, those undertaking the JFK to SIN route will find the date has changed by two days by the time they land. Talk about jet lag! Since you already know what the time difference will be, it can be helpful to go ahead and act like you are in the new time zone. If you can, try sleeping during your destination’s nighttime. You’ll be ahead of the game when you land, meaning you can start exploring without jet lag much faster.

Could You Do It?

The flights above are so long that some travelers may think twice about booking. However, the flight itself could be a unique and interesting experience if done right. For travelers who aren’t up to the challenge, perhaps breaking up the journey into segments could be a better option. Plus, this would allow for more sightseeing and exploring during a stopover. Regardless, long-haul flights are making a comeback, hopefully for good.

American Airlines Suspends 4 Popular International Routes While Cutting Flights To More U.S. Cities

Out of concern they will not be able to cope with a rising travel demand, and in order to protect other important routes, American Airlines has made the painful decision to suspend four of its most popular international flights. While two of them will be unavailable during winter only, the others were either paused indefinitely – or worse, axed forever.

As if that weren’t enough, the airline is pulling out of three U.S. cities amid a major network shake-up, unceremoniously severing vital links between smaller domestic hubs and larger airports. The first post-Covid summer may be completely restriction-free, as promised, but cancellations and travel disruption continue widespread across the industry.

American’s latest scale back is yet another proof of that:

American Drops 3 U.S. Cities From Map While Suspending A Number Of International Routes

Citing staffing constraints and, more importantly, pilot shortages, American Airlines is dropping three routes and ‘temporarily’ halting service on five others, both domestic and international. Three of those are paused indefinitely, while two are unavailable through winter 2022. Below, you will find a list of all affected destinations and their current status:

Domestic
- Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT) to Alexandria, Louisiana (AEX) – Cut
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Ontario, California (ONT) – Cut
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to El Paso, Texas (ELP) – Suspended indefinitely
- Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT) to Sioux Falls, South Dakota (FSD) – Suspended indefinitely
International
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Saint Lucia (UVF) – Cut
- Dallas/Forth Worth (DFW) to San Pedro Sula, Honduras (SAP) – Suspended indefinitely
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (SDQ) – Suspended during winter 2022
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Santiago, Dominican Republic (STI) – Suspended during winter 2022
Judging by the airline’s recent announcements, which include new flights to Cozumel, in Mexico, and two destinations in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic no longer ranks high on their list of priority destinations right now, with a majority of American travelers set to fly to Mexico instead this summer.

Small Cities In The States Of New York And Ohio Will Have New Connectivity Problems

Dealing another heavy blow to regional airports, which are among some of the most affected by cuts and trimmed schedules during the worsening aviation crisis, American Airlines is also dropping a further three U.S. cities from their route map altogether. Effective September 7, the airline will cease serving the following hubs:
- Islip, New York (ISP)
- Ithaca, New York (ITH)
- Toledo, Ohio (TOL)
According to an American Airlines spokesperson, the company made the ‘difficult decision’ to withdraw from the three cities as it struggles with staff shortages, affecting not only them but every major airline in the U.S. at present. They have reassured customers they will ‘proactively reach out’ to them after September 7 to offer ‘alternate arrangements’.

Passengers from both Islip and Ithaca relied on the availability of intra-U.S. flights to access major networks, within the U.S. and abroad, while Toledo residents are left with no choice but to drive two hours to Cleveland when vital links are cut. Now that one of the largest airlines in America has given up on them, logistics could become a lot more complex.

Envoy Air, American’s regional affiliate, had historically connected Toledo’s Express Airport to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), one of the busiest in the States. Sadly, even after having established a strong presence in this market over many years, and offering Toledo’s only gateway into the world, American Airlines saw no other choice but to shut down all operations.

Similarly to Envoy, Piedmont Airlines provided easy links to Philadelphia (PHL) from both Tompkins International Airport, in Ithaca, and the Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip. Those will no longer be available come September 7, when the changes will be enacted and American Airlines is due to end the aforementioned service.

Toledo Is Now Effectively Cut Off From All Major Flight Networks

It’s not all bad for the New York cities, as they will remain connected to the networks of at least 4 big U.S. carriers. Southwest Airlines will continue operating in Islip, alongside Frontier and Breeze, and Ithaca still has Delta Connection and United Express as backup now that American is leaving for good. Conversely, connectivity has been seriously reduced in Toledo.

Once American Airlines halts operations in the city, ultra low-cost airline Allegiant Air will be the only airline present in the city. Flights are only available to a handful of other small U.S. hubs, such as Orlando/Sanford, Phoenix/Mesa, Punta Gorda in Florida and St Petersburg/Clearwater – we’re afraid the two-hour drive to Cleveland is the least stressful option here.

The presence of strategic route maps that benefit smaller airports is paramount for regional connectivity, something that has come under threat again as the industry seeks to readjust overambitious schedules following an unprecedented surge in passenger numbers. Unfortunately, local hubs should brace for far greater future challenges yet to come.

Southwest Launches 4 New Nonstop Flight Routes

Southwest Airlines announced four new domestic routes on Thursday. Starting in November, the carrier will offer new routes connecting cities in Colorado, California, and Tennessee. The new routes are open for booking through January 4, 2023.

The carrier also expanded all its flight schedules until that date. Unlike other airlines, Southwest usually allows passengers to book their itineraries only a few months in advance, and the previous date limit was November 5, so it’s great news for those who want to plan other holidays —like Christmas or New Year’s Eve— with more anticipation.

Adam Decaire, Vice President of Network Planning, Southwest Airlines, said: “Summer is heating up early this year and our Network Planning Teams are focused on holiday travel options for Southwest Customers ready to plan family gatherings and winter getaways.”

According to the statement, the carrier is working hard to satisfy their customer’s needs and provide more alternatives for every traveler. Southwest Airlines has already pleased customers with great offers for summer travel —like a 3-day sale to save 40% on qualifying base fares and a flash sale for top destinations starting at $45. Those interested in traveling low-cost should stay tuned and take advantage of the current promos and new itineraries.

Southwest Airlines announced four new domestic routes on Thursday. Starting in November, the carrier will offer new routes connecting cities in Colorado, California, and Tennessee. The new routes are open for booking through January 4, 2023.

In just a few months Southwest will start offering new nonstop routes that will benefit travelers, from those who want to visit the coast and spend some time in San Diego during cold winter to those who want to take advantage of the snow and go skiing in Steamboat Springs.

These are the new itineraries:
- From San Jose (California) to Palm Springs: beginning on November 6, the carrier will serve daily flights except on Saturdays. One-way tickets start at $79.
- From Nashville to Long Beach (Calif): Southwest will offer daily services beginning on November 6. One-way fares start at $195.
- From Nashville to Steamboat Springs (Hayden, Colorado): This route will only operate on Saturdays, beginning on Dec. 17. One-way tickets start at $148.
- From Colorado Springs to San Diego: This route will operate “on select peak travel days” from late November through January. One-way fares start at $115.
The new routes are exciting for third parties as well. Robert Garcia, Long Beach Mayor, shared his excitement about the new route including Long Beach, and said: “As passenger traffic at Long Beach Airport continues to climb back toward pre-pandemic numbers, it’s great to see Southwest connecting more travelers and destinations to our award-winning airport.”

Travelers can book and see more details about the itineraries available on Southwest’s official website. Those interested in taking advantage of the special prices should bear in mind that low fares are limited and time-sensitive.

Southwest Airlines announced four new domestic routes on Thursday. Starting in November, the carrier will offer new routes connecting cities in Colorado, California, and Tennessee. The new routes are open for booking through January 4, 2023.

The carrier has been offering great deals to travelers this 2022 and during the past few days also special promotions for its anniversary. Considering that flight prices have been increasing in the past few weeks, Southwest is making travel more affordable during peak season.

Southwest Airlines has also been making improvements in promotions, fares, and services. Canadian Airlines Announce New International And Domestic Flight Routes

Airlines are ramping up flights to new destinations around the world, and Canadian airlines are no different.

This week, the major Canada-based airlines WestJet and Air Transat announced the launch of some inaugural nonstop routes to European destinations. The new flights include services to Rome, Amsterdam, and London’s Gatwick International Airport. We’ve got all the information for you below.

WestJet’s New Route Between Calgary And Rome

Are you living in western Canada and dreaming of Italy this summer? If so, you’ll be happy to hear that WestJet’s home city of Calgary is now better connected to Europe with the launch of the new flight route between Calgary and Rome on Saturday, May 7th.

The route was originally scheduled to launch in May of 2020 but was suspended due to the pandemic.

“With its rich history and culture, it is no surprise that our guests are eager to visit Rome. We are thrilled to provide Western Canadians with increased connectivity to this incredible city. We are also excited to bring guests from Rome to visit Canada and assist with the recovery of Canada’s vital tourism industry,” said Angela Avery, WestJet’s Executive Vice President of External Affairs at the launch of the new flight.

The direct connection between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Rome-Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) with WestJet is currently scheduled to operate until November 4, 2022 and will resume on March 16, 2023.

At this time, nonstop flights between the two destinations are available two times per week. You can check WestJet’s homepage for more details.

Italy has also been dropping some of its entry requirements for travelers, so visiting the country is much easier than its been compared to the previous two years.

Air Transat Launches New Routes To Amsterdam And London

Just in time for the summer tourist season (and due to traveler demand), Air Transat has launched a new direct flight service between Montreal and Amsterdam.

This inaugural route on the popular vacation airline is the first of its kind in Canada, with Air Transat being the only Canadian-based passenger flight carrier to offer nonstop service to these two destinations.

Flights will operate on a new, more eco-friendly plane – the new-generation Airbus A321neoLR, which is 15% more fuel-efficient than other passenger carriers.

This new flight launch means that Air Transat now offers nonstop services from Toronto and Montreal to the Dutch capital city. Flights will operate three times per week, and are currently scheduled until mid-October in accordance with the high travel season.

The airline also launched another inaugural flight route this week between Quebec City (YQB) and London’s Gatwick Airport (LGW), with direct weekly flights available until late September on the airline. This new route marks the second direct connection between Quebec City and Europe on Air Transat, the other one being QC City to Paris, France.

Air Transat Ramping Up More Flights For Summer 2022

The Canadian vacation airline is also set to relaunch 25 of its routes to Europe by June 2022. Air Transat currently offers six flight routes between Canada and Europe.

With the gradual restart for summer 2022, Air Transat will provide flight services to 15 destinations throughout Europe from Toronto Pearson Airport. Destinations will include Dublin, Lisbon, Glasgow, Zagreb, and more.

16 European destinations will also be available from Montreal, including nonstop flights to Athens, Brussels, Madrid, as well as a number of destinations throughout France.

Swoop, Air North Launch New Domestic Routes

On top of the resumption of international routes to Europe from Canada, ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop has launched its first-ever service from Hamilton to New Brunswick. Flights are currently scheduled four times per week for summer 2022.

This new route is one of 11 inaugural routes that will be available on Swoop to Canada’s East Coast, in an effort to boost tourism to the region after an over two-year closure.

Avelo Airlines, the ultra-low-cost carrier headquartered in Houston, recently announced 5 new routes in the United States as part of their anniversary celebration. In June and July, the airline will be offering non-stop flights on the East Coast, connecting Orlando, Charleston, Washington, and Wilmington.

The carrier is celebrating its first anniversary —it was launched just a few days before its competitor Breeze Airways— and also announced that it will be opening a third base at Orlando International Airport (MCO).

To celebrate this accomplishment, the carrier is offering ultra-low promotional one-way fares, starting at $29, including taxes and fees! But travelers must book soon, the anniversary fares are limited and expire on May 5. Customers must also remember that this is a low-cost service, and that other fees —like carry on, checked bags, and assigned seats— do apply.

Andrew Levy —Avelo Airlines Founder, Chairman, and CEO— said, “Avelo is poised for continued growth as we add more planes, more Crew Members, more destinations, and more bases — including our new base in Orlando. I’m very appreciative of the warm reception The Sunshine State has greeted Avelo with since we began flying here last November. As part of their celebration, Avelo Airlines is currently promoting its “1 Year Anniversary Sweepstake” in which customers can win one year of free flights for two. Travelers interested in participating must follow the airline on Instagram and tag two friends in the comments. All details and rules are available on the company’s official site.

For being an airline not many have heard of, Avelo actually has quite an impressive route system, and it’s still growing.

About The New Itineraries

According to the information shared in the press release, Avelo is expecting to serve at least 10 nonstop destinations from its new third base in Orlando by the end of the year. These are the new routes and the special anniversary fares:

Connecting Orlando International Airport (MCO) to:
- Charleston International Airport (CHS): Non-stop flights will begin on June 30, three days per week. One-way fares start at $39.
- Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI): This will be a seasonal service, from June 30 to September 6. Avelo will serve this route five days per week. One-way fares start at $59.
- Wilmington International Airport (ILM): This route will begin on July 1. The carrier will offer three non-stop flights per week to Wilmington International Airport (ILM). One-way fares start at $49.
The company already serves daily flights to New Haven Airport (HVN) in Southern Connecticut from this location, and beginning on June 16 the carrier will expand to three flights per day on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) and two daily flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

After the new services begin, Avelo will be offering a total of 14 routes from HVN and a total of four destinations from Orlando (MCO).

Connecting The Wilmington International Airport (ILM) to:
- New Haven Airport (HVN): Avelo will serve flights three days per week beginning June 30, 2022. One-way fares start at $39.
- Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI): A new seasonal service will begin on July 1 until November 7 offering passengers flights three days per week. One-way fares starting at $29.
The carrier also recently announced new routes connecting Washinton to New Haven starting on May 26, will also offer very low fares starting at $29.

Avelo’s Expansion On The West Coast

The low-cost carrier has been silently expanding across the US, taking advantage of the secondary airports, and is currently also operating on the other side of the country.

On the west coast, Avelo has a base in Los Angeles, at the Hollywood Burbank Airport, and offers flights to 10 destinations: Sonoma, Eureka, Redding, Medford, Eugene, Bend, Pasco Tri-Cities, Boise, Salt Lake City, and Denver. From Las Vegas, Avelo also has three routes to Denver, Redding, and Sonoma.

Air travel is continuing to ramp up in 2022. From new sunny destinations to local favorites, here are some of the latest flight routes from the US and Canada just announced this past week.

Fort Lauderdale to Havana, Cuba

Dreaming of Havana after a two-year closure? Salsa nights and sunset mojitos might be closer than you think. Southwest recently announced that the airline will be ramping up daily flights between south Florida and Cuba’s iconic capital city, on top of a number of new round-trip flight services along the west coast and the islands of Hawaii.

Beginning May 4, 2022, Southwest will offer three daily round-trip flight services between Fort Lauderdale and Havana. Daily round-trip flights will launch between Tampa and Havana a few days later on May 7th.

Vancouver and Montreal to Dublin, Ireland

After a two-year hiatus, direct flights between the Canadian cities of Vancouver and Montreal and Dublin, Ireland are back starting in June.

The direct flight services will be on the national airline of Air Canada. Services between Montreal and Dublin will begin on June 2, with flights operating three times per week. Flights between the west coast city of Vancouver and Dublin are scheduled to launch from June 3 until September 30, with services four times per week. New York to 7 U.S. Destinations

30 miles north of New York City, you’ll find Westchester airport, the latest hub for Breeze airlines. From Westchester, passengers will be able to fly direct to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Savannah, Charleston, Jacksonville, and Norfolk.

These new routes add to the already impressive route system Breeze has in place, especially since the airline is only one year old.

New York City to Tobago

A new flight route is scheduled to launch between the Big Apple and the Caribbean island of Tobago this spring.

Beginning May 5, 2022, flight carrier Caribbean Airlines will offer weekly flight services on Thursdays between New York’s JFK International Airport and Tobago’s ANR Robinson International Airport.

According to local reports, this will be the first time in years that there will be direct flight services available between the continental United States and the island of Tobago.

Los Angeles to London

On Saturday, April 16, United Airlines finally resumed its popular flight route between Los Angeles’ LAX Airport and London’s Heathrow after more than a two-year break. Daily flights depart for London leaving LAX at 5:10 p.m. and flights from London to Los Angeles are scheduled at 4:15 p.m.

The resumption of this flight route is big news, as its one of the major connections between the US and Europe.

Toronto to Amsterdam

Canada’s sunny vacation airline Air Transat has relaunched its popular flight route between Toronto Pearson Airport and Amsterdam. Flights are currently scheduled to depart four times a week, as travel demand for Europe ramps up for the summer months.

The airline also recently announced that it will be adding a new flight route between Montreal and Amsterdam. This new route is scheduled for three times per week starting in May of this year until October.

Miami to Lima, Peru

Lima-based SKY Airline Peru, a subsidiary of Chile’s SKY Airline, just announced the launch of its sixth international flight route from Peru starting on June 7th.

Flight services between the two popular destinations of Lima and Miami are currently scheduled to depart five times per week, with services ramping up to daily flights beginning in August.
- Miami – Lima, departing Miami at 9:35 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
- Lima – Miami, departing Lima at 2:35 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Atlanta to Cape Town, South Africa

After over a year of negotiations, Delta Air Lines was finally given the go-ahead to begin flight services between its home city of Atlanta and South Africa.

The new flight service will depart from Atlanta to Cape Town, via Johannesburg. While there is no exact date set at this time, the airline plans to launch the new route in November 2022, with flights departing three times per week.

Sarasota to Austin, Texas

US-based budget airline Allegiant announced this week that it will be launching a new flight route this month between Sarasota, Florida and Austin, Texas.

Flights are scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 21, with twice-weekly services offered between the two cities. The new route will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays until at least the end of the year.

Toronto to Cartagena, Colombia

In another big announcement from Air Transat this week, the airline will be launching direct flights between Toronto and the Caribbean destination of Cartagena starting in December of this year.

Canadian travelers can enjoy flight deals for less than $600 round-trip between Toronto and Cartagena, making for an ideal sunny winter getaway.

Here are ten international flight routes from the U.S. you can take this year.

New York To Cartagena

Cartagena is one of Colombia’s hottest travel destinations (literally and figuratively) and it’s now even more accessible with the launching of Avianca’s direct flight route between New York’s JFK Airport and the Caribbean city of Cartagena.

In less than five hours from New York City, you can be exploring Cartagena’s colorful Old Town, the backstreets of Getsemani, and feasting on empanadas from a streetside food cart as you watch the sunset over this beautiful port city.

The flag carrier also resumed flight services from Miami on March 27.

Dallas Fort-Worth To Melbourne

After two years of minimal flight activity, Australian airline Qantas recently announced some new international flight routes as the island-nation begins to reopen its borders to tourists. The new flights include an inaugural route from Melbourne to Dallas Fort-Worth, which is scheduled to launch in December of this year.

Starting April 17th, fully vaccinated travelers to Australia will no longer need to show a negative Covid test result pre-departure. So, if you have your heart set on Australia’s southeast coast, Qantas is ramping up flight services between Los Angeles and Melbourne.

San Diego To Munich

On March 30th, German airline Lufthansa launched a direct, long-haul inaugural route between San Diego International Airport and the Bavarian city of Munich.

This route replaced the one between Frankfurt and San Diego, which had to pause services in March 2020. Flights are currently scheduled five times per week. Flying to Munich gives you easy access to the rest of Germany and it’s just a short car ride to the Austrian countryside, so start planning your adventure to the German Alps!

Austin To Amsterdam

KLM’s new flight routes between Austin, Texas and Amsterdam have finally launched. Flight services began on March 28 and the route is currently running three times a week.

This new international route is one in a slew of new transatlantic flight routes announced recently by major American and European airlines.

These two cultural cities have so much to offer travelers. And since The Netherlands removed all Covid-related travel restrictions this month, it will undoubtedly be a busy summer in the Dutch capital.

Seattle To Istanbul

It was announced earlier this week that Turkish Airlines will be launching an inaugural flight route between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Istanbul. Set to launch on May 27th, this will be a long-haul flight as well as the 12th US city with direct services on Turkish Airlines.

Flights will operate four times per week on the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

New York To Milan

Get ready to fly to Italy’s stylish city in the lap of luxury. European boutique airline, La Compagnie, just launched a new international flight route between Newark Airport and Milan. La Compagnie is an exclusively business class airline, and other flight services include New York-Paris and New York-Nice routes.

This new international flight route will offer travelers a menu of Italian food and drink developed by expert chefs, as well as boutique amenity kits featuring products from local Italian skin care companies. Flights depart five times per week from Thursday to Monday.

Boston To London

If your heart is set on visiting England this summer, know that you will soon be able to get there on a budget from the East Coast.

Just announced this week, low-cost airline JetBlue will be launching flights from Boston Logan International Airport to London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports this summer. The Boston to London Gatwick route is scheduled to launch on June 19 and Boston to Heathrow set for August 22.

Los Angeles (Burbank) To Edmonton

As an alternative airport to the always-busy LAX, Los Angeles’ Burbank Airport is ramping up flight services for international travel, and that includes flights to major cities in Canada.

That being said, Canadian ultra low-cost airline Swoop announced it would be increasing flight routes both internationally and domestically this past year. One of the newest international flight routes set to launch by the airline is between Los Angeles Burbank and Edmonton International Airport. Thrice weekly flight services will begin on June 23rd, allowing southern Californians an easy budget option to visit Alberta’s capital city.

Orlando To Edinburgh

First of its kind on Virgin Atlantic, travelers can swap the humidity for the highlands and haggis on the new Orlando to Edinburgh nonstop flight.

This new, seasonal summer route launched on March 30th and flight operations are available two times a week from the US. Departures from Orlando are scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays and flights from Edinburgh to Orlando are available on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Los Angeles To Barcelona

More transatlantic flights from the West Coast are ramping up in 2022, this time with low-cost airline LEVEL. The airline’s summer flight schedule this year includes a direct route between Los Angeles International Airport and Barcelona. Flight departures from LAX to the Catalan city are currently scheduled three days a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The itinerary will expand to also include Wednesdays starting on June 1st.

This new route is currently the only nonstop flight from the US West Coast to Barcelona.
